Hey HPSPers,

I would like to buy a pair of TTL loupes during my D1 year. I have heard that loupes can be covered regardless of whether they are required or not, assuming you are OK with not receiving a pair upon graduating.

Does anyone know how to go about getting the loupes reimbursed when they are not required by the school? Do you still use the cost data worksheet as you would when getting books and scrubs reimbursed, or is their other paperwork/processes to go through?

Thanks guys.

If they are not required, you are not going to get them reimbursed...that was the last I heard...if I am incorrect...someone jump in here...

You're 100% correct Sir.

I see... I must have been misinformed. That's a shame.

I guess it's a cheap pair of $70 eBay loupes for me then.

Thanks for the input guys.

at some schools they are required. i would think at most schools they are. get a letter from the dean of student's office or the clinic director authorizing their purchase.

If you are in the Army don't bother. The HPSP office KNOWS if it is required of all students. You can get a letter signed by the Dean, the Registrar, your Congressman or the Man-In--The-Moon - if it is not REQUIRED OF ALL STUDENTS plan on spending your stipend.

Mine were not on the list of required equipment initially sent out by my school, however, they do expect every student to purchase them and our practicals are graded with loupes worn by professors and they expect us to wear ours during them. That being said, my dean had no issue signing a sworn statement that they were required because they are a mandatory part of the program and I was reimbursed about 2 weeks after I paid for them.
