Hello,

Just got my new scores back and I figure I might as well get some advice.

I'll start with stats:

AACOMAS stats: 3.71 non-sci 3.42 sGPA 3.59 cGPA
AMCAS: 3.5 cGPA 3.2 sGPA (I failed a class and retook it, got an A, and TAed the class)

First MCAT score: 4 VR 7 PS 8 BS L = 19

Next MCAT: 8 VR 8 PS 8 BS M = 24M

Bio:

married, disabled military veteran, 27 yo

interdisciplinary in: music, IT, and science

6 strong LORs: 2 from TA sessions 1 from chief of pain management at Roswell Park Cancer Center, 1 from general surgery DO, 1 from a class professor, 1 from dept. chair of biology where I work as a bio tutor.

200+ hrs of volunteering/shadowing

Certified EMT, A+ certified

Planning on applying to Carib big 4, DO, and UAG (wife is from Mexico).

So, what are my chances?

Honestly, I think you have a good chance getting into DO schools if you apply early and broadly. Everything looks solid except your mcat score but still, you've made a +5 improvement.

I just got mine in the mail today. I did 7th and 8th grade in like....1996 lol. I kinda have to apply to make the wife happy =p
Same year for me.

Don't worry. a 3.59/24 is still good for DO schools. You had a 5 point improvement and you made your MCAT balanced. If I were ADCOMS, I'd be happy to see that.
