I have searched this forum a lot but it seems I'm learning about a new SMP everyday on here and I am not sure which SMPs are suitable for me. My question is: given my stats and information listed below, what would you recommend?

As the title says, I'm a nontraditional student and reinvented myself by doing a DIY post-bacc. I retook 8 classes which are highlighted (at bottom) in the excel spreadsheet below. I was originally aiming for DO to take advantage of their grade replacement policy but as we all know that has changed so I am now looking at SMPs to help me get into medical school. I'm hoping that admission committees take notice to my upward trend. I'm capable of doing well in school but just went through a rough patch during undergrad.

Summary: Wanted to be doctor, did bad in undergrad due to death in family, spent 2 years after graduating in programming and audio engineering industry, realized what I still want is to be a doctor, retook 8 classes including some prereqs (3.7 GPA DIY post-bacc), ACOMAS changed policy and now I'm looking at what SMP to apply to.

I am a FL resident but am open to OOS programs. So far SMP's I have in mind are NSU, Barry, and VCOM's.

GPA Excel Sheet
AMCAS GPA 3.13
AMCAS sGPA 2.80
AACOMAS GPA 3.37 (What it would of been with grade replacement)
AACOMAS sGPA 3.41 (What it would of been with grade replacement)

I am still debating on whether it's worth applying to medical schools in June given my stats and that grade replacement doesn't exist for DO anymore.

Took MCAT 1/28/17 so I am still awaiting scores.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to help me out.

I don't think Barry's program is a SMP and other ones in the south that you can consider are PCOM-GA's, LECOM-B and LMU-DCOM's but do more research on them. I know the NSUCOM and VCOM ones, if you do well in them, dont bomb the interview, and have a certain MCAT, you're guaranteed into the program. The ones at Touro-NY and LECOM are similar to these, but more north.

If you get a great MCAT score, it might be worth applying, but make sure you know which ones screen or not. Check the CIB under secondary for that information.

Good luck!

I'll look further into Barry to make sure. Thanks for providing some other programs to look into, I'll definitely be checking all of them out

Take a look at Mississippi College. They had one graduate go to FSU, if you're looking there. It's cheap and has growing respect in the region. Another would be Tulane (they have several).

Thanks! I'll look into both of them

May I ask why you specifically recommended PCOM-GA as oppose to their PA campus?

I just listed ones in the South because he was a Florida resident and seemed to be looking at ones closer to his residence.
