Non-traditional aspiring MD need help in NMAT preparation

I've been 9 years post premed program and have since been in practice in my profession here in the USA, married with 1 kid, and planning to apply to med school in the Philippines in the next 2 years. Would like to seek advise or tips on how to prepare for NMAT-subjects to review as I have been out of school for a long time now. Also, are there a lot of nantraditional students in Medical school in the Philippines? I'm in my early 30's now.

There are lots of non traditional fil am med school aplicants out there. I am one of them. You can search this forum or just browse the numerous topics that have been posted to get more information about the application process.

To prepare myself for the NMATs I took bio, chem, physics, and anatomy and physiology as a post bac non-degree student at a local university. I had a limited science background since my undergrad degree is in Antrhopology and Historic Preservation. Since you had a pre med track during undergrad, I'm sure you'll be ok if you just pick up one of the numerous MCAT reviewer books. The NMAT is not as in depth as the MCAT. I might be able to scan the practice exams and post them later.

Dont feel like you are too old to apply. My 29 year old sister who is a 4th year med student in UERM has an american batchmate who is well into her late 30s maybe even hitting 40 this year. Don't mind the traditional pinoy students that start the program at the age of 20-21.

Use the search function and read all the old posts. ALL the info you need is there. If you still have questions....then we can help. But take care of the basics first please.

The NMAT belies the actual difficulty of medical school in the Philippines. While you should try to do well on the NMAT, I strongly encourage you to take even one semester of undergraduate medical subjects in the Philippines, preferably at the same school as the one you'll attend for medicine proper. Most of your filipino classmates already have Anatomy, Histology, and Microbiology under their belt. These are not a part of US pre-med requirements, but are crucial to surviving the first year of med school.

can i take the nmaat even if im still in 3rd yr of my pre-med course? and also i read from the cem site that the pre-requisites of being admitted to a med school are 9 units on mathematics and 10 units on chem.. when i revwd my prospectus i only have 5 units on chen and 6 units on mathematics.. how does that round up? does that mean i need to get more units on those subject areas?
