So has their class size dropped below what its supposed to be yet? I wonder if there is room for movement and they're just waiting to take people.
Wrigleyville said:If any of you cats have specific questions I can bring up with the admissions department, I'd be glad to stroll over there and ask them. I assure you they are not stringing people along. It's just a matter of opening up spots as they come available.

pnasty said:im not sure if mdapps is a good measure or not, but there are a lot of people that withdrew from there. I was sitting in this boring lecture a couple of days ago and counted 8 out of 34 people were going to NU. Thats about 24%. The number of acceptances was 312, so the number of people who would be going at that percentage would be 74. Leaving about 36 spots i think. Not sure how representative mdapps is tho.
It was a three and a half hour long lecture, so I had a lot of time hahahaha
SmoothNC said:36 spots??? No, if your sampling is correct, there would be more....aren't there 170 spots in the class? And, of those, probably 10 MSTP's and this year there were supposed to be less HPME's.....I would say around 40-50 (with 50 stretching it) spots....which bodes very well for us waitlistees....but who knows.......Last year, people started coming off the MD waitlist before May 15th...so maybe there won't be much movement....oh well, hopefully somebody gets in soon!
pnasty said:I thought it was 170 at first too, but then realized that includes the HPME kids and some other special people. I got the 110 number from Lizzy M's previous post:
"Last year ~50 matriculants came from the waitlist (out of about 110 students who were admitted through the regular admissions process, not MD/PhD or BA/MD). In other years it has been 2 or 3."
Yeah, I noticed people had already gotten off earlier than May15th last year, but things may be delayed with the way you said they were accepting people this year (ie..the geographic stuff). If that region thing is true, they will need to figure out where they are missing the most people from etc, to even everything out. Eh, I hope I get in.
eastsidaz said:I think he's saying that there are less HPMEs this year, leading to 120 or so free spots rather than 110. I heard that the HPME class that started at Northwestern undergrad in the fall of 02 was especially big, and that they're getting smaller.
pnasty said:yeah but it doesnt it take three years for that to matter. are we talking about acceptances or when they actually start at feinberg?
pnasty said:definitely good news! i wonder how many NUPSP people they accepted this year, but it cant be twenty!

Keep the faith. It seems like a very real possibility that the school is going to sit tight for a while before offering up waitlist spots. I've been in contact with the school, and I was told by several higher-ups that they don't plan to look at the waitlist for a while yet.eastsidaz said:Hate to say this, but this is not looking good--NU doesn't seem to have any movement, and there's no indication there's going to be any anytime soon. Anyone else think this implies that very few will come off the list?
eastsidaz said:I get the feeling that HPME is being phased out, or at least marginalized...perhaps LizzyM can confirm this?
I did notice that a lot of the other interviewees had already graduated when I was there.Wrigleyville said:I think the med school has been trying to balance them out with students who have post-college work experience of some sort to up the "life experience" factor among the students. I'd estimate ~1/3 of our class had at least a year of work under their belt when they matriculated at NU.
stay positive! without knowing all the rest of your app, it's impossible to say. I'm sure you realize that those numbers are below their averages, but they wouldn't have invited you for an interview if they didn't think you were academically capable! you're in the same boat as the rest of us now - sitting and waiting. 😳lemur said:hey alternates, i'm one of you so i thought i'd join ya. good luck to everyone! northwestern is my top choice so i'm hoping it comes through. if it doesn't i've got one other waitlist, otherwise i'm reapplying 😡. from my interview day, i felt like the dumbest one there, i was very impressed with the other applicants, do i have a shot with 3.56/33?

What did she say? When (Central Standard Time) did she call? How long did she give you to reply?
And why were you watching Oprah?

keedz said:Oh I'm sorry 😳 . It wasn't my intention to make anyone feel bad. I just wanted you all to know that the line is moving.
No, no, it's totally your right to be ecstatic. If I get in, I'll be super pumped.keedz said:Oh I'm sorry 😳 . It wasn't my intention to make anyone feel bad. I just wanted you all to know that the line is moving.
Not so fast - waitlist movement very often stretches out for up to a month. But I'm also just telling myself that so I don't lose hope 😳pnasty said:So are both of you planning on going to NU? Seems like it would make sense for her to call everyone in one day....
luhando said:i got a voicemail from dean brown too...but missed it. i hope that means i got in.
