I would be missing these prerequistes/important courses
Physics II
English II
BioChemistry
Immunology

I recieved a C for intro to Bio 7 years ago but ever since I returned to school I have gotten mostly A's with a few B's lightly littered throughout bringing my gpa up from 2.75.

Volunteering and Shadowing could be at 200 hours combined evenly by summertime.

GPA o 3.6
s 3.5

My question is, with only 79 credits and those 4 important classes not taken, would you still take the DAT and apply this summer?

you're golden. go for it

well, physics & english aren't even part of the DAT

Biochem and Immunology, sure they are cool subjects that enhance your biology.... but I don't think they'll make THAT much of a difference in your Bio score.

I say you are golden, go for it

I know the school I hope to get into requires 2 semesters of physics along with 2 semesters of English in addition to the Bio and Chem.
You may have to apply next round?

You just need to have prereqs complete before you matriculate, not necessarily before you apply.

how could you ask random ppl to tell whether or not you should go for it. I appreciate that our opinions but...don't worrry. just apply and study hard for the DATS. you have the prerequisites.

Wow I didnt think everyone would be on board to go for it. I am extremely happy you guys are. Thats exactly what I was wondering too maygyver. I appreciate the opinions a lot and thanx.

Definitely go for it. All of the schools will require two semesters of physics (except Louisville and Kentucky I believe), but they only require that they are completed before you actually get to school. One other thing to be aware of is making sure that the you have enough completed credit hours prior to matriculation, because some schools require a certain amount. Then, as long as you feel comfortable and feel prepared to take on the DAT you should be in great shape!

Oh wow, I'm misinformed then.
Thank you....that actually takes the stress off what I was planning for fall and spring ( :

Glad you asked the question!!!

I was planning on taking Physics I and II fall spring, along with Organic I and II and 3rd level biology........3 labs....
I'll be meeting with an advisor soon to clear this all up.

If the sum total of your college experience tops just 79 credits then you should recognize that they do not go very far; perhaps, you should be thinking about obtaining a degree. On the bright side applying this summer will have a positive impact on the economy.

Sorry to bring this topic back up but I just read doc's response.

The reason I am so adamant about applying sooner than later is because im already 25 years old (maybe young to those older than me but Ill be 32,33 by the time i would finish d-school). I know i would have a remaining 45 credits to complete in a year in order to receive my bacc. However, thats the amount of credits im doing this year.

The courses left would be mainly electives and philosophy and so on...easier courses in my opinion.

I plan on getting my bacc before d-school so i can keep the option of specialty schools open.

I looked at your links and they are self-explanatory of your position. Yet I am still going to ask

If you where in my shoes would you apply or not? And more importantly your opinion, because you have been there and done that.
