Uh no.. if med schools used orgo 2 grades as a metric, then a significant amount of med students shouldn't be where they're at now.

You don't need to prove anything. Organic chem is hardly used in med school and in real world medicine.

Take the C+ and move on.

Disclaimer: this is something that is bothering me PERSONALLY for reasons I will explain in the post. I do not need sarcastic comments but advice that considers everything I say. Thank you!

So, during COVID-19 my organic chemistry II lab (which is 3 credits btw) switched online. In summary, it was a **** show and I ended up with a C+. I got a B in organic 1 lecture, and A- in organic 1 lab and an A in organic 2 lecture. So, the C+ certainly looks out of place... I know I would do better if I retook it, but I cannot retake it at my same school. I kind of want to prove I can do organic??? I even liked it! my GPA is great so it is not about that (3.8c, 3.7s) it is just about how I know MD schools sometimes use organic to see how you'd do in med school, and this is my only C and it is bothering me! I also wanted to be competitive in Texas, and I am worried that this docked me a bit (ignoring how I do on the MCAT I know I need to knock it out of the park). Any advice on this is needed because this was my LAST chem course so there is no "take an upper level chem course to prove it." Thank you!

Honestly, you will do FAR more harm demonstrating your neuroticism than good demonstrating your mastery of a retake. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!

An A on any retake is less than impressive, and anything less is bad!!! This is not a sarcastic comment -- it is heartfelt advice. Work out your personal issues personally, not on your med school application. JMHO, but I'd never even consider retaking a passing grade. Prove yourself by doing better in upper level courses.

I had multiple Cs (think I had 3) and 1 D. Still got 7 MD interviews and acceptances. Your GPA is fantastic (my gpa according to amcas was 3.5 when I applied)

I had 1 C, 7 F's, and a few W's and did just fine. As other posters have mentioned, schools don't really care about a specific grade in a specific class.
