We sure do, and i hope they are the ones i mentioned before, because they are pretty cool. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
it hurts me to see this thread on the 2nd page...just bringing it back up. Have any of the Canadian students got their orientation package yet? I still haven't. Is there anything different that is not on our Class of 2008 website?
Boyan, welcome back.
Boyan, welcome back.
I finally went to find a dentist to get me some teeth! She promises me many. I have no idea how many, but at least I can scratch that off my list. I also found another dentist to collect too. I imgaine he'll get me around one or two teeth.

All the oral surgeons around here that I tried have UIC students that have beat me to the job. However, one of the dentists said she could get me a lot of teeth. She was really busy, so I am not sure if she's a specialist, but she goes between two offices. I'm pretty sure she's going to get me quite a few. Thanks for the tip. If I see other oral surgeons around, I'll definitely stop by and see if they can help me out.

Hey Jessica how are you? Are you still in Chicago ?
Hey B, I'm here until June 23rd. We should get together. I'm free most of the time in the evening...Let me know what your schedule looks like.
jes
B-OK, I think what would be best is next Sunday (or Monday or Tuesday). I'm booked up for the rest of this week except Wednesday. If you tell me what L stop is close to you, I could come to your neighborhood too. E-mail me and we can discuss this [email protected]
Hey Incoming D1s:
Nova Dental Student Government Association (SGA) just had our first lunch meeting today and we have some pretty cool stuff planned for this year. One thing we did finalize was that I will be speaking to you guys at your White Coat Ceremony on Sunday, August 8th. Traditionally, the SGA President speaks on behalf of the student body, but since he will not be available, you guys will have to put up with yours truly, SGA VP, moi!
I've spoken at many Nova Dental Open Houses in the past couple of years to potential dental students, their family and friends, but this will be my first White Coat Ceremony appearance to an incoming class. It will be fun. Well, I knew I was going to meet you all during your orientation weekend, but I did not know that I was going to speak to you all as a group. I look forward to finally meeting you all in person. Should I give a shout out to the SDN group during my little speech?
It's crazy that all this is still two months away!

Has anyone gotten their Finacial Aid package yet? They keep promising that I will get something in the "next couple of weeks" but it's been a long time and I have gotten nothing. Webstar still says my award is $0.00. I was just making sure that I wasn't behind the game. Also, for those who have the get a private lender loan, does anyone know which private lender they will use?
Jessica

Jessica,
Don't worry, b/c we're in the same boat. 😕 I am somewhat worried about the whole financial aid/loans process b/c Webstar is also telling me that I have nothing, b/c I haven't been "fully admitted to the program", pending my final transcripts, which I sent last week. I asked Andy about all of this and he said that the last week of July, first week of August, just about when school's about to start, the government directly disburses funds to your account (it's done behind the scenes, he said); that is if you applied for federal loans. I am also totally in the dark about private lenders. I would like to find out more about them, but Nova hasn't really been too helpful. The financial aid office is great, but then when they run out of answers for my questions, they tell me to contact my college's office for more details and that's where I get stuck. Oh well, hopefully everything works out in time. Let me know if you hear anything...Bianca

To get private lenders you have to fill out an additional form at this website...
http://www.nova.edu/cwis/finaid/information/alternativeloan.html
Once this is comleted i am pretty sure you find out how much you get along with the stafford loans, all in the same package. At that point you can decide to take it or not. Hope this is what you all were looking for.

jack604 said:when do we pay tuition?
before August? what about second semester's tuition?
anyone have any idea?
They most certainly cannot make us pay tuition without giving us our financial aid packages first right?
Hey all, from what I understand, tuition will be split according to however many semesters we have for that year. So, this coming August, I was told that half would be due in the beginning of August and the other due sometime in the beginning of the winter semester. Oh by the way, since the majority of us will be taking out private loans, how about we put our minds together to find out a really good lender?
Just a thought... 🙂

When applying for the private loans, the Nova website has an online form we have to fill out- 2004/2005 Request for Lender/Loan Funds. The only problem is that they ask what amount you wish to borrow and I don't know that yet. Should we just wait until Nova contacts us with info/financial aid package? Maybe all this stuff will be explained then...Thanks

Hey Bam,
I just wrote on my sheet "The Remainder of Fees and Tuition (approximately $10,000)" for how much I wanted from private loans. I couldn't think of a better answer.

When is everyone planning on making the move and where from?
I am comming from Tallahassee, so i don't really have that far to go, about 400 miles. My lease at Palm Trace starts August 2nd, so i think i will be headed down the night before and stay with some family. As far as how i am moving, i think i am getting a U-Haul trailer and hooking it up to the back of my Rodeo. I don't have that much stuff, so hopefully the trailer will be big enough. Anyways, what is everyone else doing?

Hey Josh et al,
Sounds like you got your move all figured out. I'm moving from Chicago to Kansas City in around two weeks. From KC, I'm going to be loading up my little Honda Civic with whatever I can cram inside and driving myself down there around the 27th of July. I can officially move into Cedar Key at 4PM on July 31st.
I just looked on Mapquest....It appears the drive from Kansas City, Missouri is 1,441 miles to Fort Lauderdale, estimated time around 23 hours. I will probably split the driving up over three days. I'll stay somewhere in the south, maybe Nashville for a night. I have a good friend that lives in Orlando, so I'll stay with him for a night or two then make my way on down. 🙂 I'll spend the rest of time before classes buying furniture.

I'm moving (flying down) from Toronto, Canada about a week b4 orientation starts. I think I'm only going to bring my clothes and a few essentials like my George Foreman Grill and my Playstation II. Everything else I'll be buying down there. Cedar Key will be my home for atleast the next year.
I'm coming down from Toronto too! I think I'll be driving with all my stuff sometime in mid-late july. i have a ton of stuff, i don't know how i'm going to get it all there!! my bike might have to wait a bit. we should all exchange numbers before we go down and plan a pre-party!
Hello all,
It seems like everyone has some sort of idea on where are they living and how they are moving in. I have been lagging behind. As of yet, I am still looking for a roommate. I have also post up my profile on the nova roommate search website.
I wish I could have kept up with you guys earlier, I have recieved a lot of good information from reading these forums. But, unfortunately i haven't been able to keep up lately b/c my dad had an almost life threatening surgery done last week. The good thing is he is okay and now i can finally get back on track with things soon. Please let me know if anyone of you is still looking for a roommate. Also, what places are you all staying at? what is the rent and are there any cheap apartments?
thanks
Chin

For those of you who will be living in Cedar Key and haven't seen the apts yet, let me tell you that the complex is very nice and literally across the street from the Dental building. I went by the school yesterday and saw it...I didn't actually go into any of the rooms, but just drove around the parking lot. I would love to live there, but like most of you already know, it's full probably until next August (2005). Right now I live in Miami (the Kendall area) which is about 35 minutes from Nova. I'm just gonna stay there until something opens up at Cedar Key, whenever that may be...hey, it's one less year of extra student loans for living. I figure if I'm going to move from where I am now, might as well be right across the street so that I won't even have to take the car to school, even though I'd still need the car to come home on weekends and stuff. I also visited Cameron Cove and Poinciana Lakes, which are also nice and close to the school. I guess if anyone has anymore questions hopefully I can help out...good luck to all who are still looking for a place to live.
