First interview woohoo!! I'm so shook because this was the first school to reject me last year lol 😉

Has anyone had an in person interview yet? Curious as to how it went. Heard a pretty negative experience about it.

Does anyone know any information about NOVA's residency match rate? I can't find that info on their website or brochure.

The interview was pretty chill. The interview was like a conversation and no one knows how they grade the interview. Only 118 out of 733 interviewees got into the program last year which means it is pretty competitive. Since you can't control whether they like your answers or not, just be yourself in the interview I guess. 🙂 Good luck!
That 118 number is actually the number of students enrolled, not the number of acceptances given out. I'd guess that around 250 people are accepted and half decline because they get in to a cheaper school.

The person at the interview site said they give out about 180 acceptances on decision day.

seems weird considering they could end up with more then expected acceptances.. Would they be willing to bring in all those students if they accepted?

That's why most schools set up the deadline to accept the offer or pay the initial tuition. First come first serve. Once seats are full, they will not accept more.

That sounds about right. Maybe 70-100 more acceptances given out in the following months.

The chances are extremely low that they would all accept the offer because Nova is pretty expensive. If for some reason they ended up with more students than they could take, they would probably ask some students to defer their acceptance for a year with some kind of incentive.

How much is nova annually? I know a lot of people think MWU is crazy at an estimated 130k a year but I’ve seen state schools with those estimates if you aren’t a resident
If you use loans for everything, about 600k total including interest on the day of your graduation.

You mean to say that if you are given 30 days and you decide on the 29th, if all the seats have been reserved, you may lose that seat for the year? <--sounds like a confusing sentence... But yea i understand its pretty unlikely
No, I think your seat is safe so long as you pay by the 30th day. They can have more deposits down than students who enroll because many students won't go on to put down the 2nd and 3rd deposits.

They may give an incentive to defer acceptance, but if the student wishes to attend that year, the school is legally obligated to take you in.
Professional schools cannot deny you if they extend an admission offer. Even if they exceed their target enrollment number, although it may cause some complications with the scheduling.

Some schools have different approaches to this. Some give out 40 acceptances in December for 30 spots, then hold interviews post-December for the rest of the remaining spots. This way if all 40 happen to accept, they are still under target, and have the flexibility to accept/waitlist the people who interview post-December.
And other schools like Nova, just hand out 180 acceptances in December and cross their fingers not all of them accept the offer.

Credibility: Asked current practicing Dentists, dental students, current dental school admins, and father who is a current Vet Med School director/professor who oversees the admissions process

The interview was really relaxed and upbeat. I enjoyed it! Just a 1-on-1 with a faculty member, about 15-30 minutes, and really stress-free. You also get to tour the facilities and I loved seeing all the dental clinics and the students in the middle of class.

For those who had online interview, did they send the link to the interview closer to the interview date? I only have scheduled it but haven't received any link for the interview

Hey guys! So I’m wondering if they decide on acceptances right after each interview batch, or for all applicants, they decide prior to dec 15th (this cycle).
My interview for Nova is in December but the before the 15th, should I try to reschedule for a sooner date (possibly virtual) or stick with it. I have a feeling the sooner, the better chances but I see someone said the first virtual date is December 1st (close to my original date).. .Thanks for any advice!

They will decide right after the moment you walk out of the interview room. Dec 15th is just like an announcement day.

Anyone else interviewing virtually with Nova tomorrow at noon?!

Hi guys I interview in person next week. Is there any way that someone could tell me what it’s like? And is it open or closed file?

Does anybody know if Nova still sending out interview invites? It's been 3 weeks since I receive the call from them that my application is completed. I feel like I'm low key on the rejection list 🙁

Just give it some time! 3 weeks is not enough time to expect to hear back from a school.

Any info on how many seats for OOS
out of state ...

Good luck. I did my virtual interview few days ago. Was ok ... they said my S GPA 3.06 was not competitive.....
O GPA 3.2
DAT. 21

Oh thats great! I'm sure you got it especially since you got offered an early interview. My UG science and overall weren't even at 3.0 so you're in a way better position. Best of luck to you!

I asked this from the admission and they said they have no preference for IS over OOS. The only reason that the number of OOS is small is that few OOS students want to pay the high tuition, similar to some other private schools.

^This. 19 of 118 is the number of students who matriculate, many more are given acceptances.

Who was your interviewer?? Mine said the same to me only about my DAT...said it was very poor and not competitive at all (I've had multiple interviews BTW :eyebrow: )

I had Dr. Galka and although I only have a 3.1 overall GPA, she said my masters program (3.8 GPA) "really put me over the top." Also if I'm not mistaken, she told me that if you have a masters/graduate GPA they'll consider only that and ignore your undergrad GPA.

Oh great
That’s very good news in terms of a future plan. Good luck

What did you guys bring to the interview/ advice to bring ?

I didn't attend nova in person but my other in-person interviews I just brought a notepad and pen, and some drawings that I discussed in my application. any manual dexterity skill should be brought or at least pictures of. No need to bring anything other then these two things IMO
