Nova Class of 2025 Interview/Acceptance Thread

I actually agree with them. I interviewed last year with the same setup and found it very weird. They didn't seem to really put much effort into it, especially with the interview questions.
I agree. I was asked too surface level questions and only 15 minutes. I used to get distracted as well since the interviewer was busy reading my application.

What type of questions do you think they should be asking?
Anything really. Like why dentistry, why nova, etc. Pretend you haven't seen their personal statement so you can start a conversation. I literally got zero questions in my interview and was told there's nothing they could ask me since I had a high GPA and knew the school.

Still to this day have no clue what that school costs cause they hid it.

Exact same thing for me.. they told me you have great academic record and that was it. I felt they have already made their decision and they are not looking for much in this interview. Btw did you end up being accepted?

Nope. Got the reject letter in July of this year after I had already started dental school elsewhere. Lol. Sucks cause I lived there, but it was probably for the best with seeing how non-serious they took covid and that whole hiv thing awhile back.

My interviewer was very stiff and nonresponsive. At all of the other schools I thought I could get a cadence going with my interviewer but at Nova it felt robotic

I personally was not very impressed with Nova's interview. You just talk to current students, some faculty/staff, and then head in for a 30min chat with a faculty member. That's it. Very standard set up.
yikes and that is for the virtual interview?

on a different note I am a little bit worried about getting accepted in dental school. I only had 3 interview invites so far and I applied to way more schools. Do dental schools offer interviews past December? On the bright side I have not received any rejections yet lol

Hey, I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat, as I haven't heard back from a majority of my schools too. Just gotta hope for the best! Waiting is definitely stressing me out though lol

Schools usually at least do a few interviews after Dec. I would expect that to be even more common this cycle.

yes... I feel hopeless about to start calling every school and asking them for an update 😀

Does anyone know if Nova calls on the 15th along with sending a letter?

No you get that in the mail a couple days later. I never got an email about it. They don't reject those that interviewed until class starts for the new class. If you don't get a call, you're waitlisted.
Yeah I second this. I heard someone didn't get a waitlist notification until February. So, if you get a call next week, great, but if you don't then you are either waitlisted or rejected.

Would they leave a voice message if I missed the call that day?

Dude you sit there with your phone in your hand all day picking up every ring. One school call popped up right as I was swiping something and it registered as me declining the call. No voicemail. Had to wait for them to call back. Lol

I have no clue if Nova leaves a voicemail. I was waitlisted and never got pulled off.

Last year's thread shows people were getting acceptance packets early in the mail lol do you think that'll happen again this year?

It happened over the weekend last time so it's still a possibility, but if no one has said anything yet then they probably changed their mail out policy.

I'm curious... do you know what are the chances of getting off the waitlist?
Depends how many they interviewed. They usually interview over 500 people (including post-December interviews) for a class size of about 120. Since pretty much everyone who interviewed is "waitlisted," chances aren't super great. However, because they have many acceptances that are declined due to the high tuition, their waitlist moves a lot more than most schools.

I didn’t get a phone call yet 😂 but someone posted in the DAT admissions facebook and her last name started with an A

ACCEPTED!! omg I’m going to be a dentist!!! I was so sleepy I didn’t even know what to say!
Congratulations! How long ago did they call you? How long did it last? Did you also get something in the mail?
