It baffles me that they can charge 20k a year for a distance learning program, insanity. No offense to anyone using the hybrid program as it IS a means to an end and does serve a purpose.

BOODLES, if you get into a cheaper school, do that. I'm a first year at NSU and i didn't really understand the financial strain i'd put on myself by coming here. Having said that, if you take out all loans and have zero help, you're looking at about 130K when all is said and done. However, it's totally doable to pay that back in b/t 5 and 10 years post-grad if you live within your means and you work hard. There's a few other threads that talk about loan repayment etc that actually provide a numbers breakdown that may be of some help. Let me know if you have other questions.

Does anybody know when the ft. Lauderdale program starts?
 
Well I got my rejection letter to Nova a couple days ago. I've been avoiding acknowledging it because it shot down my confidence a lot. My stats are mediocre and I think that had a lot to do with it but I might call just to see if they can explain further so I know what to fix for next year. I don't know if it's good or bad that I got this news before my interview at Midwestern. I only say good because I would know how hard I truly have to try (not that I wasn't already going to) and bad because my confidence is really torn down right now. Good luck to all of you!
 
I got a phone call from Nova this morning telling me that I've been accepted🙂. I'm so relieved! Hopefully more people on this thread get accepted soon!

Don't get too down. I literally have a pile of rejection letters that I've collected from last year. You'll get there. The interview is a great opportunity. Just relax and be honest and show them who you are and you'll be fine. Whoever interviews you has been in your situation🙂

What were your stats on applying if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking into NOVA's program also

Pre-req: 3.43
GRE: 147V 146Q 4AW
116 observation hours in two different outpatient clinics and in one inpatient setting.

Does anyone have a general idea of the time-frame for each semester? Not the curriculum, but the actual time between semesters that you have off. Also, do y'all know how the rotations are divided up? It seems like the biggest chunk of time is given the last year. Thanks!
 
Time off is limited, one week between summer and fall and then three weeks between fall and winter (spring semester), and a spring break during winter semester...but thats it. As for dividing up clinicals you do a few observation days starting in the first fall semester and spring semester and will continue each semester that you're on campus then between April-May you go out on a month long rotation, then the second year you go out on another month long rotation in the same time frame. Your last three rotations start in August of your third year and I believe you get a week or two off between each of those final rotations.

I got a call from NOVA, Ft. Lauderdale last week that I was accepted! Exciting feeling...I went ahead and paid the deposit. I am trying to decide if I should go to an interview for Miami University or commit to Nova. Miami is about $19,000 more expensive tuition wise.

Hope the best for everyone still waiting!
 
I got accepted today!!! I'm so excited!! I can't wait to meet all of you! I live here in south Florida in Boca Raton..DPT Class of 2018!!! 🙂
