I'm checking the LOR requirements for nova for those applicants without a committee letter (my undergrad does not have one) and I was wondering if anyone can comment on the "liberal arts" LOR in addition to two science letters. I went to a liberal arts college, but more familiar with my science professors of course. Would another science letter count or do I have to get a non science professor for this 3rd letter? Any thoughts?

Do you have a contact email? I tried searching the faculty database on the website and I get no results for him/her.

Sundarban1,

I would stick with what is asked of you...two science and one non-science. They look at more than just your science classes when you apply to see if you're a well-rounded student; hence wanting more than just science LOR's.

Does anyone know the average stats of last year's accepted class? I'm just curious about what your stats would need to be to get into Nova....I went on their website and found nothing. Thanks!

Students entering class: 236
In state: 61 Male 64 Female
Out of State: 53 Male 58 Female

Those that are entering class of 2009:

Avg undergrad gpa: 3.40

It's supposed to be a non-science, but I wrote the admissions office explaining that I couldn't get one. they said ok, we'll make a note of that, but I had to send another science letter in its place. No biggie.

You can replace a liberal Arts LOR with a letter from your employer (or your ex-employer). As a matter of fact, it could be from anyone BUT another science professor.

the thing is that i checked NOVA's website for the requirements in regards to LOR. It states that they want "2 sciences and 1 non-science or a pre-medical commitee letter". where does it say that we need a liberal arts LOR? MAybe that's why i haven't heard from them!!!!

Taken from here

The following supplemental application materials must be received by the College by March 1:

A supplemental application, which will be accessible AFTER completion of the AACOMAS application is received by NSU-COM. Please make note, it takes approximately 4 -6 weeks for NSU-COM to receive the AACOMAS application.
A non-refundable application fee will be required when completing the NSU online application.
A letter of evaluation from the pre-professional committee, or, if such a committee does not exist, then three letters of evaluation: two from science professors, and one from a liberal arts professor
A letter of evaluation from an osteopathic physician

liberal arts = non-science

so i have a pre-committee letter, shouldn't that suffice? no need for the liberal arts letter?

if you have a committee letter..you will be OK...i had 3 science 1 MD 1 DO..but thankfully it was in a package with the pre-med committee...and they didnt say a thing..
