Nova Southeastern University (NSU) - Class of 2018

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
On the same boat as you too. Haven't heard anything yet & it's making me so nervous and almost sick to my stomach just waiting
Sorry you haven't heard either, but it makes me feel better knowing that they haven't gotten back to anyone. Interviewing early in the month means a long wait until the end of the month for a reply.

I interviewed on Thursday and they told me that they'd probably be making calls today, but I also haven't heard anything. I'm so nervous.
Lucky you to not have to wait long for a reply. Three weeks is agony! Keep us updated on when and what you hear!

The wait was definitely brutal but congratulations to everyone who got their acceptance today! && like everyone else before me said....good luck to future applicants!!!

Do you mind sharing your stats with me? I also applied here but haven't heard anything although I got into lecom already 🙁

I haven't heard anything too. I applied at beginning of Sep but my app is pended until my pcat score is available on Oct 22. Until now, I still hear nothing. How long your app go further once your pcat score is updated?

I did average in my undergraduate years & average on my pcat but I have been working at a pharmacy as a tech for almost a year now so that might have helped me a lot during this whole process. Hopefully you'll hear good news soon!

I just got my acceptance email too!! 🙂 Im so excited right now! Congratulations to all who got accepted and best of luck for future applicants.

Congrats!!

Hello everyone, can you please give me some opinions about the two campuses Ft. Lauderdale, FL and West Palm Beach, FL? I am not from FL so I am not sure which campus should I prefer. Thank you so much!!!

Hey guys. I'm here to ask to the applicants who've been interviewed/awaiting one: Did you have a bachelors before applying to pharmacy school? Nova is my first choice, and I'm confused as to if a degree marks extensive competitiveness to them. Experience also? Thanks

I haven't been to the Ft. Lauderdale campus, but the Palm Beach Campus is just a simple bulding, the pharmacy department is in the third floor, which is the top one, i think the class for WPB is around 50 students and most of the classes are broadcasted there from the main campus in Ft. Lauderdale. I've heard that sometimes the professors go visit the WPB campus and teach there, but thats only a few times. What I know about Ft. Lauderdale is that its the main campus, so its a big one, i THINK there is housing available for students and it it offers many other degrees and stuff. The class is much bigger around 130 and most of the classes are taught there.

hope that helps 🙂

I interviewed this Wednesday, got my acceptance the day after. I guess I got lucky. Good luck to everyone!!!

I have a PCAT score of 36 and 2 something GPA, over 6 years of work experience CPhT (retail and hospital), and community service as well. . .do I have a shot at an interview?

2 something and a 36? Ill be honest and say more than likely you don't have a shot.

Hello everyone, I am going to have my interview on Jan 7 (yay I am so excited). I am not from Florida. Can you please tell me which inn/hotel is good and has reasonable price? Thank you 🙂

You're gonna have to rent a car. I wouldn't do taxis cuz they end up more expensive than renting a car. There really are no hotels right by nova. If you want to stay in a cool place stay at the Hard Rock, which is about 10 minutes away, or you can stay on the beach which is about 15-20 away. If you just want something cheap then you can find a Holiday Inn Express down the street on University which is about 10-15 away.

Hey guys, first time poster here!

Wondering if any of you could give their opinion on my chances of getting an interview, as Im about to apply soon. Do you think it will hurt my chances that im sending out my PharmCAS this late?

I have a 3.52 in all course prereqs with a 3.55 in math and science.
I worked a summer job in a major pharmacy production plant, and I am just starting to shadow a pharmacist at a local hospital right now and will be throughout the spring semester.
I havent taken that PCAT yet but about what percentile do you think would get me an interview considering my above stats?

Thanks, and heres to hoping we all make it in!

I scheduled mine for the 9th, also not from FL but really excited to visit the school! It's one of my top choices since I have friends who are currently attending. Best of luck to all of us!

can anyone tell me which hotel they stayed at for the interview and how much it was? did the hotels provide a NOVA discount? money is definitely a consideration for me. thank you all and good luck.

I really think you will be fine. I have a 3.3 gpa with a 3.1 science gpa, 61 on my pcat with a 91 in chemistry. Currently working at a pharmacy. I had an interview in November and was accepted two weeks later. 🙂

Hi 🙂 did they tell you you needed to wait a month? They told me it will be a month before I would get something in the mail. Thanks!

Hi guys! Im planning on applying to NOVA next cycle and its one of my top choices. I have heard mostly good things about the school, but I have also heard a few bad things (like it was on probation a few years ago). I will go to their open house in March, but until then, Im trying to research as much as possible about their school (haven't been able to find "much" on the internet). So I was wondering if any of the students that are already part of NOVA, or that got accepted this cycle can enlighten me about this school 🙂 For example, how are their rotations? what is the normal schedule for a P1 student?, Is it true we use Ipads to take tests? . I mainly want to work as a clinical or compounding pharmacist after I graduate, so how easy is it to get a residency after you graduate? If you know the answer to any of these questions it would help me a lot! Thanks for reading and have a nice day 🙂

Hey guys,
I have an interview in February and wanted to know what the interview was like ?? Thanks so much and congrats!!!

It was very chill. What they do is the time they give you to arrive you sign in and are greeted by a couple of students who serve as your tour guides. Mine was about a group of 10 candidates. You meet with someone on staff who tells you how the day will go. Then you get taken on a tour where you have a chance to ask questions of the students that are showing you around. They give you a boxed lunch and after that you start having your interviews one by one. So if you are scheduled to be there like at 11 be prepared to be there until about 3. The interview was very relaxed. Its two people (professors), open file and its more of a conversation. My interviewers were extremely nice and they will ask you obvious questions. If there are any issues in your transcript or file be prepared to answer that but its pretty straight forward. For example my GPA was a bit on the low side so of course they asked me about that and my study habits and if I think I can succeed.

Overall though it was very very relaxed. The candidates I was with were extremely nice and we all bonded a bit. The student tour guides were great kids and the interviewers were extremely nice people. I was really impressed at how everyone was just nice, decent people. So I would just go dressed as if you were going to a real business job interview, you don't have to worry about much preparation just look over your application and be ready to answer questions to obvious things. Of course be ready for the Why Pharmacy questions but other than that just be relaxed and think of it as a conversation and you should be ok.

Good Luck!

Oh my gosh thank you so much! You gave great advice and I really appreciate it! I look forward to my interview now without being too nervous! Good luck with everything and again thank you for taking the time to reply 🙂
