Simply fantastic school.

Congrats KevinBaker and Gibtone!!! When were your interviews?

We all interviewed on September 14th, 9 days for the status change. But we were told that our files would be submitted to the committee on Monday so it was really about a 3-4 day turnaround time.

Anyone recently get these boxes on Webstar?

Requirement Received Note Status
MCAT Score
Recom Ltr, Non-Science
Recom Ltr, Science 1
Recom Ltr, Science 2
Supplemental Application

None of mine are filled out and they should have been a looooong time ago. No interview for me yet. Anyone's filled out that got an interview or acceptance?

I have the same new boxes now with nothing entered in them, but I have been invited for an interview.

well poop

My husband has his MCAT box filled out but none of the others

I honestly think they auto-invited anyone that had a 27 or better MCAT. Not that that's a bad thing, just sucks for the rest of us with 26's lol

Shoulda retaken!

congrats to all who have been accepted. i am a M1 here at NSU, so shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Accepted! Super pumped! Saw the status update this morning, got the email this afternoon. Interviewed 9/16.

Mine are all filled out with the name of the person that wrote each letter, but my thing still says "pending"

Grats to all that got accepted, I really hope we all have a place in NSU this year.

just got the email and ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 interviewed on 9/14

I think you're right. What really sucks for me is that I did re-take it in August and got a 28. However, I think they already gave out all of the interview spots before they updated my score. So now, even if I eventually get an interview, it won't be for a very long time which kinda defeated the purpose of applying super early like I did 🙁

Oh well, everything happens for a reason! Seriously congrats on all of the acceptances! I am really jealous!

Oh that sucks vmorel...I hope you still get one eventually 🙂 It's an awesome school/location, so everyone getting in is super lucky! Congrats everybody!

I am sure you will get an invite soon =)... I am in the low 20s and praying lol..I will retake it in Jan but was hoping to never have to do that again =)...

Congrats everyone, NSU is an awesome school. I hope I get in two weeks from now, too. I can really see myself having a blast on the way to becoming a physician and having a sweet place to call my second home when all is said and done.

Same here. It seems like an awesome place to be at for four years. My interview is in exactly 2 weeks. Excited and nervous for my first one. Congrats everyone who is accepted! =)

Thanks Bigboosting! Good luck to you! All we can do at this point is hurry up and wait haha

I have a 28 but I also retook it a year ago! so I don't understand!

what do you not understand sa22?

That if the cutoff was a 27, then having higher than that would mean i'd get an interview. So I think there were more factors than just the MCAT.

I don't think there were automatic invites based on mcat score. I've heard of people with 27+ not yet receiving invites. Although I think apps may have been reviewed in the order of descending mcat scores. The invites seemed to come in waves, with those with higher scores getting invites first.

Waiting for an invite from NSU was really nervewracking. I was complete pretty early, but plenty of others who were complete later were getting invites earlier, and even some who didn't have all their LORs were getting invites before me. So their process for handing out invites is really confusing, but I think they did actually review each app at least a little. Not sure exactly what they were looking for though.

I was lucky enough to have received an invite on the first day they came out, and I have a 27.

agreed

Mine's all filled out with the names of my letter writers, but still says decision pending. My secondary was sent in July and LOR's sent in mid August. I haven't sent a DO rec letter yet, but they sent me an email on September 20th saying my file was complete and under review. Are they seriously out of Fall interview spots? How does that happen? I have a 33S if that helps anyone's theory about going in order of mcat scores. Good luck to all of us!

lol I honestly hope they R looking for more than a high MCAT score or what was the point of all the shadowing/community service hours and the rest. Also with my less competitive score my only opportunity is that they are looking for a lot of health care xp and DO shadowing as well.

Good Luck all of us pending =)

wow sounds like everybody who interviewed early got accepted! congrats to everyone. wish i coulda gotten one of those early interview spots

Anyone going to be interviewing here on 10/7? The turn around time for decisions seems real fast, hope it continues.

31 and no interview yet

Maybe they're afraid of clowns...? :meanie:

I seem to recall you submitting your application later in the cycle... late August/early Sept. if I remember correctly. I'm guessing that has more to do with it than your numbers. 😉

haha 🙂 maybe. but I got an auto-interview from DMU about 2-1/2 weeks ago. since I am complete and have nothing from NSU, that makes me think that there might not be auto-interviews at NSU, especially for about a 28

If you're the guy who gave me my tour, you were extremely chill (and informative). We were the group the admissions lady went searching for because we were running maybe 5 minutes late, and you had a doc you were shadowing a few minutes after. I was afraid med students would be just as neurotic as most pre-meds I've met. You convinced me otherwise 🙂

Thanks.

yes sir, it was me. congrats on getting accepted! a lot of you got accepted apparently! you have my info if you have any questions!

Ok, so here's my brief NSU review for those who are interested.

The first thing we did upon arrival was meet in a conference room where we all waited for the last guy to come in for about 15 minutes or so. First thing I noticed was how talkative/friendly everyone was. It was awesome getting to know everyone on our own and just cracking jokes/having a good time. Then we watched a semi-dated video with the famous dean and his handlebar mustache, followed by a speech from one of the adcom members.

Then we got split up in two groups where one went for a tour and the other stayed back to interview. I went on the tour first and it was amazing. Our tour guides were brutally honest about everything and didn't feel the need to sell the school at all. They told us about the bad things (which there were few) without reservations and that made a big impact on me because it really showed how happy they were and that they had nothing to hide or play up. What I really liked was they have this system of breaking down the pretty big class into like 5-6 'families' or something where each one sticks together does a lot of the academic stuff together. It's a really smart idea and apparently each 'family' (forgot the actual term) becomes tight-knit a la Harry Potter and Griffindor/Slytherin/etc. One of my tour guides was part of the Burns family and he was sporting a shirt with Burns on the back and I just thought that was pretty cool and fun.

We toured the facilities and the usual stuff and then went back to do our interviews. The interview was 2 on 1 open file and was really short - only about 20 minutes. They told us to forget all of our rehearsed answers and be honest so they could just get to know us personally. I think they're just looking to see if we fit their mold of a social/personable/passionate person to go with the numbers. One thing I really liked about the school is that they have like dozens of SCHOOL-SPONSORED international trips to places all over the world. It's really established and the fact that its not run completely by students makes it seem more legitimate to me as compared to international trips other schools have.

Then we went up for lunch and had a really nice personalized lunch in another conference room with sandwiches and wraps. The whole day we had students with us answering questions and just chatting with us, the lunch was no different. Then we had another serious speech by one of the vice-deans who broke down the whole Nova experience from start to finish with all the nitty-gritty details of the program. It seemed the whole staff really understood that we'll be getting accepted to a lot of places and to look deep down and choose where we would really be happy and not just go to a school thats all numbers driven with no personality or chance to develop non-academically.

Then we were let go and had the opportunity to take some shuttles to tour the rest of the campus if we wanted to.

The main thing I liked about Nova is that I feel like its a place where I WANT to be and where I'll ENJOY studying for two or more years. I really believe you'll be the best student you can if you enjoy where you are. There's so many things to do around campus it's awesome, I would love to explore the place as a med student. I also liked how my tour guide said after midterms everyone gets together and hits south beach or something at night to celebrate. I just cant help but think how much I'd WANT to get to exam days knowing south beach is waiting for me after lol. Also our interview group was just awesome, we all had a great time and grew together and I almost wanted to get everyone's numbers at the end to keep in touch. It would be great if we all got accepted and a lot of us ended up attending together.

Anyways, that's about it, I'm really hoping for an acceptance now 👍
