That's a relief to hear. 🙂

Have any of you guys that have been accepted to Nova gotten your acceptance packets yet? How long did it take after the phone call?

I got the call not last monday, but the one before that. Rachel said that they were going to be sent out later that week. Still havent recieved anything though

managed to reschedule for jan 4th...hopefully the weather is nice!

I interview tomorrow but never received the packet in the mail. The invitation e-mail says the day begins at 9AM. Is that right? Also, I'm staying at the Comfort Suites. They said their shuttles leave on the hour, so I guess I'm taking the 8AM shuttle. Hopefully, I won't get their way too early. Anyways, any info on the schedule, important info in the packet, etc. is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey MrMister, goodluck on your interview. I interviewed there in late october, so I may be able to helpya...

they want you to check in by latest 8:45am, so that they can start at 9am. Read the more recent interview-feedback on Nova in the Interview feedback section...it has a good breakdown of the schedule for the day.

The packet also has parking info, but you'll be taking a bus anyway. It also had a few handouts and newspaper clippings about the university..some good info, but its not necessary for the interview. The packet also had hotel info, etc.

Remember, you have to meet at the Health Professions Building. If you call Nova in the morning, they should tell you exactly where that is on their campus...im sure the Comfort Inn people already know as well, considering other students have already used them before...

hope that helped.

Just flew back from my Nov 9th interview. Went relatively well I would say. I think I definitely impressed 2/3 interviewers (not sure about the third).

If you send in your acceptance letter, along with the $750 deposit, does NSU send you an email or anything, verifying they have received your Acceptance and will hold your spot for the following fall?

Thanks!🙂

Since the adcoms meet every Wed at Nova and the dean makes a decision on Friday, do you guys think if I called in on the Monday after my interview (technically when the decision should have been made already) that Rachel would let me know over the phone?

yeah I think maybe wait for Rachel to call you... interviewers said wait about 2-3 weeks! Plus it could be more exciting getting that "you are accepted" call! Call her back if you haven't heard from her in more than 3 weeks!

P.S. I think I know which one of the NYorkers you are from our interview day! 😛

when they called my house my dad picked up the phone and answered. My dad then called me and told me i was accepted, it was kind of surreal.

Wait they meet every Wednesday? I'm guessing that means I'm unofficially on hold. It's been about three weeks. Maybe I should call.

I haven't interviewed. I was told three weeks ago that my app was "currently being reviewed". Nothing since.

Just relax!!!!😎 It took over a month for me to hear!😴

I was accepted by phone on 11/02, Anyone else around this time get the acceptance packet in the mail? I just want to see it in writing. Thanks guys

Are you sure you are being honest? Because Rachel assured us she wouldn't tell the results of the interview to ANYONE else besides you, and that would be including Belichek's dad.

And still -- you confuse me. You first say you got a 23Q, and then later post you attended a Tier 1 school.... then say you have accepted at NSU and will be attending... and then on an allopathic thread say you are going to Dartmouth next year.

Frankly, with a 23 I'm surprised NSU accepted you, let alone Dartmouth....

You seem to be a shady person. 👎

Does anyone know the cutoff numbers for first round interviews gpa and mcat?

I had a 3.8 cum 4.0 science, from a top 20 school, and a 23 MCAT, and I got in into NSU. As for cutoffs, when i interviewed i was told by the admissions that the cutoff was a 23, but now that the class is filled i assume the cutoffs will increase to a 25ish.

If that's true then I hope they just reject me soon instead of dragging it out and making me wonder.

Can anyone tell me if it's a bad idea to call Rachel this Monday and ask her if I'm in or not? I interviewed 11/9 and according to what she said, adcoms should have met 11/14 and the dean should make a decision 11/16. I know it's freaking early, but I can't take the waiting. My interview went well, in my opinion, and I really need this acceptance for my sanity at this point (who doesn't?).

the aacomas handbook says nsu minimum gpa is 3.0 and mcat is 24. if you dont believe me see for yourself on the aacomas website

I believe you. That is what it says on the AACOMAS NSU page but not what NSU had listed on their website otherwise I wouldn't have bothered submitting the secondary.

from things i have heard, NSU is more selective in giving interviews rather than rejectnig people after they have been interviewed. So if you get an interview you have a really good shot at getting in.( i was told 80% at my interview but even that seems extreme) If you havnt heard in like 3 months, odds are your application has been tossed.

Three months from submitting my secondary or three months from being complete? 😛

since NSU sends secondaries to everyone without a screen, i would say after being complete. The screening takes place only after the aacomas app, MCAT scores, signature page, and online secondary are submitted. (LOR's arent requiresd for the screening the process)

Well I sent my secondary and signature page around the first or second week of September. They have had my LORs for just over two weeks now. I think what is making me impatient is that they said three weeks ago that my app was currently being reviewed. I'll give them a call after Thanksgiving and see if I can get an update.

there is a good possibly that they are simply waiting until after the dec 14th deadline. Once NSU realizes that several people have declined their acceptance, they will open up interviews for more non-trads.

Yeah to be honest I'm very excited about December 14. How late into December do you think schools interview?

Well, decemeber is kind of a wierd month with christmas/hanukah/new years/quanza etc. so i wouldnt expect too many people to have interviews in decemeber. I would expect that right after dec.14 all the schools will send out interviews really rapidly to those that have been ignored for the past few months. So basically its like the application cycle is starting over from scratch, except now more seats are filled, and the acceptance rate post interview will decrease due to that.

you seem like a decent person EEL08, and i wish you the best. i think you will get into a school,(not sure which one at the moment) but in the end i think you will end up somewhere. you seem like a very motivated, headstrong individule, and with those traits you can never go wrong.

Thank you. I know there's still time in the application cycle. I'm not expecting to get any December interviews but I was curious.

I'd definetley call. just say that since you have to make a decision by dec. 14th, the sooner you hear the easier it will be for you to make a decision.

(Rachel called me about 2 weeks after my interview, my answering maching got the message saying that she had news for me regarding my status, so i called her back and she told me i got in)

good luck to you

Hey all...I had to pick up my acceptance packet at the post office today b/c they sent it certified mail. I was the only one able to sign for it. So, if you haven't gotten one yet and should be getting one, check the post office!

I suppose that you could call on Monday, but if they are on schedule, they would notify you on Monday anyways. I had to wait four-five weeks for my call because the Dean was out of town. The Dean must approve of any acceptances made by the admissions committee.

On a general note, congrats to everyone who has gotten acceptance.

Once the class is full, the standards for GPA and MCAT do increase. If you attend Nova, you will soon learn that the class is comprised of individuals from different backgrounds.

I'm IN!

I just called Rachel a mere 1 week after the interview and she told me I'M IN! I'll be getting the packet next week. w00t!!!!!! <333 NSUCOM <333

that first one feels SO GOOD!

for those that got in, dont forget to join the facebook group NSUCOM class of 2012.

i've been complete for about a month - when i call all they say to me is "Applications are being reviewed right now".

i always just talk to some random seemingly uninterested guy though - do any of you know anyone in specific i could call who may be more helpful??
thanks..

I would call to check the status of my app asap if I were you. Calling can do nothing but help. Things fall through the cracks sometimes.

Yeah I'm sure it couldn't hurt. I'll probably try to call Monday as long as NSU doesn't have a week long Thanksgiving break.

anyone else interviewing on 12/4?

I'll be there 12/4. It'll be my first interview. I'm a bit nervous but very excited.

OK this isn't really an interview question but rather a competitiveness question...I'm JUST now submitting my AACOMAS (today, I know super late ugh). Anyway, I'm in-state, have 30Q, 2.945 ugpa (From a top 20 university and will be ~3.05 after this semester), 2.72 science, and tons of pretty good EC's including running my own business, volunteer in south america (pretty standard these days though), and a bunch of other stuff.

Do I have a change? any advice? THANKS!

just looked at my bcpm gpa and it's 2.95. overall 3.22. can i even get an interview with those numbers?
