Who else is interviewing on Friday (11/30)? Would love to meet up the night before if you're free. I'm local so I can pick you up if you're not staying too far to the south or east of the school.
Hi All,
Just wanted to see if anyone else was interviewing on January 11th. Does anyone have a ball park estimate on how full the class is? I really like NOVA and love the idea of going to Medical School in Florida (I'm from Chicago, and right now it is 30 degrees outside 😡). I've got pretty good stats: 3.4gpa, 27O MCAt, lots of research and healthcare related experience, but my concern is that I will be interviewing too late in the cycle. Can anyone shed some light on the situation. How full is next years class?
Has anyone who interviewed on Nov. 14th heard anything back from Nova yet?
I'm not sure how full their class is for next year, but i know if you are granted an interview they accept around 70 percent of those people according to the admissions counselor at NOVA.
I would email them if they haven't sent you a confirmation of your interview. They send a packet of materials in the mail once you have set your interview date.
hmmmm...
has anyone that interviewed on Nov 9th other than Eudjinn hear back from Nova at all??
I called today to ask and left a message on one of the admission staff's voicemails but i heard nothing back 🙁 boo!
Has anyone who interviewed on Nov. 14th heard anything back from Nova yet?
Nope. Not a peep...
Nope, and I just mailed my deposit to LMU today. Oh well.
What's going on with the admission people? I've tried calling Dev for the last three days and no one has picked up. I also emailed Rachel on Mon. and it's now Wed. and there's still no response. It's been almost a month since I've interviewed (11/14). I was really hoping to hear something before I send out the rest of my secondaries.
Yeah I know what you mean, i interviewered on 11/9 and haven't heard ne thing yet! I guess all we can do is wait, and call.. haha
maybe they're just really busy now
That's weird...I interviewed on 11/7, received a packet in the mail 2 weeks ago saying I was accepted. You should definately bug the admissions people. Good luck!
Nope, I got that letter too, and I was accepted.hmm so then maybe it just means that I'm not accepted... 🙁
shouldn't they send out a rejection letter?
and is their sending out a confidential letter telling you to get a NSU email address their way of telling you that you're placed on hold?
Okay guys, I found out why I haven't heard anything from Nova yet. Since I go by my middle name, they had my letters of recommendation under my middle name instead of my first name. So my LORs were not in my file which prevented me from going before the committee. Now that I've talked to Marla, and straighten everything out, my file is ready to go before the committee. Only problem is that the committee won't meet again till next year. 🙁
I interviewed on Nov. 14th, it would have nice if they would have emailed or called me and told me that my LORs were missing. I called Dev a couple of weeks after my interview and he didn't mention anything about my file missing anything. 😡 I really want to go to Nova but the admissions people seem very disorganized. LECOM, on the other hand, has made the process very smooth.
Cheating will only lead to your demise. You may be able to cheat in your classes (I'm speaking in general at any institution), but your board scores are YOUR board scores. If there is cheating at NSU and you want to make it aware, there is an ethics committee for each class. You may present that information to them and they will be able to speak to a higher power on the matter. If you go through the proper channels, things will get done.there are some interesting comments about the school in the osteopathic thread. One person said that EVERYONE who graduate in the last three years is unhappy and has nothing nice to say about the school.
Its kind of weird because a DO who graduated two years ago said she loved it. But the consistent thought among all was the administration problem.
Most shocking was some comments about people who were cheating and school didnt do anything about it.
I am not a hater ( i am applying to school here) but just wanted to bring it for thoughts from others who interviewed there or know people at the school
Hang in there. Enjoy your vacation.Okay guys, I found out why I haven't heard anything from Nova yet. There was good movement off the waitlist. There were individuals in the first year class that were accepted a week or two before classes actually started.i found out yesterday that i was invited for an interview but the earliest date that works is 12/25. just from reading the posts above that seems to be very late, almost too late, for any chance of admission??? any thoughts? (to make things worse, i'm oos 😕) does anyone know if the class has filled or when it filled last year? how many people get off waitlist? any help will be really appreciated. also, any advice on a hotel to stay in as close as possible to nova?
My suggestion is to be prepared for the interview and let them know, in a subtle way, that Nova is your first choice and to explain why.yes, my interview is on1/25. would you think that this pretty much puts me on the waitlist? i called dev to speak to him about this and at first he was a little defensive and said that it is a little late but then he said that i should be fine. i asked him specifically if there were spots still available, and if historically people got in after january interviews and that was his response. i'm going away for the break and not returning till 1/20. not sure if i should change my plans and return early for this (flying out of the us)?!?!?!?
I believe the package comes through certified mail, which requires a signature of some kind. I hope you were able to pay your deposit by the deadline. Yes, the package could have gotten lost.i'm getting kind of worried because I found out I was accepted 11/16 by phone and was promised the packet for the longest time and I have still yet to receive it. December 14th came and went and still no packet. I'm going to call tomorrow since I coudn't reach anyone in admissions Friday, but could the packet have gotten lost somehow?
You're right about the dates. You should be covered by that clause. I will still find out where your acceptance package is as soon as possible. Forgive me for not mentioning, congrats on your acceptance!the catalog says that applicants accepted before nov 15th have until dec 14th to pay the deposit... i only found out on nov 16th and that was by phone only (and I was the one that called Rachel). so I do think that everything should be ok. at least I have technicality on my side.
I was going to mention that you should find out about your deposit date, cuz it's usually three weeks after the acceptance letter is sent out. You're on top of it though... awesome! Congrats again!thanks very much! i did call rachel today and she said it was just recently sent out and if i don't get it by the end of the week i should call again. she also said my deposit is due by jan 7th (that's really what i was trying to find out anyway). phew!
