NSU-COM Interview Discussion thread

I interviewed on Thursday and they said that committe normally meets on Wednesdays then a day or two later the dean reviews the committe recommendations and makes the final decision.

2 caveats:
1. IF your file is missing something, won't go to committee
2. Dean travels a lot, (he told our group he was going to London this week), so even if committee has already decided, they still have to wait on the final word from the dean.

how was your trip home? I just got back tonight and the airline didn't load one of my bags because the "plane was too full!" I was rather upset, but happy it happened on the way back not there!!!

Give me a clue so I can know who you are 🙂

lol i havent emailed them the thank yous yet...but I will either tomorrow or Monday. That sucks that your plane didnt load one of your bags...thats weird..how can the plane be full!?

do you NEED letter from a DO for NSU?? I have an interview nov 9th but I never gave a DO letter..only one from an MD..but I dont know if this matters?

Nope...not me....I must say that I think I slept through lunch so I don't remember you bringing someone in. Nor do I remember seeing any hugs...must have been the head cold!


I really liked the school. It was really nice, I love the cirriculum and I even agree with the deans attendance and dress code policy. (During my MPH I only missed class due to national conferences or having a nasty Norwalk or Norwalk-Like Virus and I work at a University right now that is a jeans and T-shirt atmosphere, and sometimes I forget that certain people have PhD's!) I'm just not sure that I would like living in Ft. Lauderdale area for that long (I love the autumn, spring, winter and just about ALL winter sports).

The school was really nice...awesome facilities and curriculum...the 3rd year OMM fellowship looks really good! But I'm not sure I can stand the heat and humidity...other med students told me that I'll be inside a building for most of the first two years, so i guess it'd be okay. Also, im used to a big city...and ft. lauderdale/davie is kinda small, and I was thrown off by the large number of grandma and grandpa joints around lol.

Lol anyway, students are great, atmosphere is good too...overall i liked the school.

p.s. i dont remember anyone hugging anybody! i was proally sleeping too

hahah! yeah you proally have the right person if you found my post. hopefully the adcom doesnt find out! but there were a few people who had intense interviews that day as well. I got one coming up at WEstern next month. I hve to submit my KCOM secondary application...i keep procrastinating!!! I hope it isnt too late to apply there?

You can find any and all requirements on the website medicine.nova.edu, but you are not required to have a DO LOR, but I do know that it was looked highly upon that I had shadowed several DOs. Good Luck!

I couldn't wait any longer, I had to go ahead and call again this time she answered and she told me I was in! It feels good to know that no matter what I will be in medical school this fall 😀. By the way once they accept you is there any way they can take it back? (I already have all the pre reqs done). just wondering how relaxed I can be now.

in the packet NSU says that you cant get less than a C in any of your core requirements after acceptance. You also have to send in all offical transcripts from every institution you ever attended. Failure to do so will result in a rejection

Got a interviews invite today. Really stressing about the extra LOR, I have not taken a non-science course in probably 3 years. Anyone know if a letter for a psychology professor would work? I know its behavioral science but, its all I can think of. I plan on taking with them when I call to schedule but for now, anyone got suggestions?

I think that would work fine. Mine is from one of my Counseling professors, not exactly the same as psychology though. When did you submit your secondary and other LORs? Oh and congrats!

i've been complete here for about 3 1/2 weeks...and not a peep. the trend seems to be that ppl get interviews within a week or so..

the adcom meets on wednesdays. So if you interviewed on a Tuesday, Rachel said you should hear back the following Monday (if all your LOR's are in)

my fellow 10/25ers...

I called Nova today and asked them whats up. They said that my application has come out of the admissions committee, and there are two steps left...a signature from the dean about the adcom's decision, and a signature from teh executive board as a final decision.

I asked waht the adcom decided, but they said they would not tell me. The lady said the process will proally be done by about monday, so she asked me to call on Monday to see if it is indeed complete. That lady was so nice!!

I'm nervous and literally shivering... 😱
