Do Podiatry schools count a BSN as a bachelors degree? Although it may seem like an obvious question, I'm honestly not sure of the answer.

Yes they do. It is an unfortunate fact of the profession though a bachelors is not really needed so you are covered either way.

You don't need a bachelor degree to apply to most medical schools.

I will concede that there are a number that do not explicitly require it (there are a number that do) one would have just about zero shot at getting in without one without going through an accelerated program. I know Loyola chicago had a 6 year offering where they took 4 students every year after their sophomore year and got them into the MD program. These people where creme of the crop and could probably get into some better programs to be honest if they waited 2 more years.

I know 2 current P3 students, and they said they know a number that do not have a bachelors, that is too many IMHO.

What about every single applicant who is offered acceptance during his/her final year of undergrad? Didn't they all get into med school without a bachelor's degree? There is nothing to stop most of those kids from dropping out as soon as they have acceptance and never getting their bs.

Of course, there are probably a higher % of med students who have a bs when compared to pod students. But your above statement is still incorrect.

Pretty sure once you matriculate they'd ask you to send an updated transcript of your final semesters (maybe even a scan of your diploma). If you got accepted then dropped out, you'd have a hard time explaining that to the admission committee.

BSN definitely counts, as long as you have the pre-reqs for the application cycle. The patient contact will probably even benefit you in your acceptances. good luck!

Unlike many podiatry applicants, most MD/DO applicants have their pre-reqs complete and not in process. Only reason an allo program who doesn't require a bs would ask for an updated transcript. Pod schools don't even ask for an updated transcript if you've completed required courses and have a better than average GPA/MCAT.
