The title says it all, really. I have been accepted to the above 3 (in addition to other schools which I have turned down) and the time is fast approaching to make a decision.

I like PCOMs tuition, history, location - just about everything. Would anyone have any strong recommendations that I reconsider MSUCOM and its horrific OOS tuition or NYITCOM?

If your OOS I would knock MSU off pretty quickly unless you're okay with the debt load.

I would choose PCOM. Their OPTI is very strong and it seems like most of their programs are successfully moving over to ACGME. Good teaching hospitals an the ability to work with other strong medical institutions for research (UPenn, Temple, Jefferson) is really good. I'm sure you could do the same at NYIT as well but I am not too familiar with how strong their clinical training is.

Thanks, Altered. I have no debt to date, but I do think MSU's OOS price is just egregious.

All three are great programs! I've heard from current students that the administration at NYITCOM isn't the best. So it's a toss-up between PCOM and MSUCOM (if money isn't a biggie).

PCOM is about half the price and only two hours from home. I think it seals the deal

You're absolutely right, and if a school's location is important to you, then I think you've made a decision!

See you at PCOM too! (If I decide to attend) [emoji846]

MSUCOM is the top do school IMHO.
It is a nationally known system. Yes the cost is higher, but you could apply for IS tuition.

What are you talking about?!?

I haven't paid a cent in taxes to your state..... But can I have IS tuition?

yeah, call the school and ask how you could establish IS residency and pay IS tuition.

They're experts on it. They have a financial aid department, whose sole purpose is to help students finance paying for school, applying for loans, filling out the fafsa, handling matters of residency and tuition.

Call the school and ask..., not rocket science here @WhereMyLiberalsAt

Pahaha! You're right it isn't rocket science because residency guidelines are a google search away.

But you're making it sound like the school will go out of its way (or even help) to give someone IS tuition. OP has done nothing for the state of Michigan economically.... That's why there's OOS tuition in the first place. OP is obviously a strong applicant with the schools they have to pick from... So maybe a scholarship..

You can't do that. You pay OOS the full time. Establishing IS residency in most states involves working in said state for a while and paying taxes.

But you don't understand! I like really WANT IS tuition! Like really bad! I also feel like I deserve it! Because I really want it.

Try this at OK State @AnatomyGrey12 I bet it will work

PS. I know this attitude doesn't reflect OP.

There is such thing as obtaining IS tuition post matriculation. I'm not sure about MSUCOM, but OU-HCOM does it. You pay OOS tuition for your first two years while you change your residency to Ohio and get your Ohio license. Then you pay IS tuition for your last two years.

OP, you should inquire MSUCOM about this, if you're still interested in attending the school. Tell them you're torn between a few schools and getting IS tuition from them could be a huge deciding factor.

I should have specified above in my comment, I was speaking specifically for MSU. There are some other schools that will give you IS tuition after second year, first year, etc. It just varies, my comments were just specifically for MSU.

I will restate my advice again.

OP CALL THE SCHOOL.

^^^^^This is true OP(for michigan), I believe you have to live here for a year not including time spent enrolled in a professional school.

You can call the school if you wish to have reassurance though i guess.

Strongly concur. PCOM is probably your best option.
