NYCOM class of 2006

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am living alone, 900 is very reasonable for a person living by themselves and not sharing. I used lots of realtors. You don't have to pay them unless they find you something. So it works out well to call 8 or 9 realtors and have them all work on it. That will maximize the number of apartments you see, and help you find the best deal.

I'm a first year at NYCOM. You guys are in for a treat. I have a 3 bedroom apt. in Glen Cove, great location, and one of my roomates is moving out. So, we are looking for a roomate. Rent is very reasonable at $450 a month + utilities. The only thing that sucks is that you need to leave a 2 month deposit. We have reserved parking. If interested, E-mail @ [email protected]
Good luck to all future victims, I mean physicians, of NYCOM. I look foward to meeting all of you in the fall.

Please don't joke about the victim thing. I am a little freaked out about the Comp thread, and how one of their students recently committed suicide. I hope there aren't any serious internal problems at NYCOM.

wow andy that sounds like a great deal...now if only they can make a deal for this freakin pathology exam...........

HAHAHA just found out about this thread. Congratualations to everyone!!! I too will be attending NYCOM in the fall, and am concerned about housing. I have no clue as to when to start or where to look. Since I'll be coming from Michigan, I guess the best route is to get a realtor?

I suggest you start looking ASAP. Although I am from the area, I heard (from classmates) that it becomes difficult trying to find housing for a decent price.

I guess I will add my name ,since I payed 1500 bucks now. 🙂

how about a ballpark figure of what's a reasonable price in that area. I'm planning to be in NY in july, will that be enough time?

Now that the hard part of getting in is over and done with, now comes the hard part of surviving. <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

The realtor I used said that after July 1 it is very difficult to find something period.

hey all Im going to chime in once more tonight. Im going to be starting with you this fall. Being from the area...sort of, and having commuted from brooklyn to NYIT for three years (same campus as nycom) here is my plan. where i live is about an hour to an hour and a half away. So i get up early, and drive to school before traffic makes the local highways into a parking lot. then i will stay late in school to study...like around at least till ten. The drive home at that point should be about a half hour to 45 mins, depending on how much you like going 80-90 miles an hour. 🙂
Thats a living alternative some of you should consider. Queens and brooklyn are a bit cheaper with appartments, as are slightly further from campus areas of nycom...
just a thought...

commuting from BK can be hectic....especially when the year picks up (1st yr gets a little rough from february onwards)....but if you can do it..more power to you....
