yea i'm originally from hewlett (near valley stream in nassau) but now I am living in west babylon. are you definitely going to nycom?
Hey, first-time poster, long-time reader.
First of all, I must say that this site has been nothing less than an incredibly useful resource for me and it has gotten me past much of this strenuous period called the application cycle. 😀
Anyway, NYCOM is my first choice and I interviewed there back on November 11th. Long story short, I can't say my interview went too well; I didn't feel too good afterwards, to say the least.
Fast forward to yesterday. My brother (an alumnus of NYCOM) called the Admissions Office to speak on my behalf. He was told by the lady he spoke to that a letter was sent out to me the day before (Wednesday). After being a little persistent, he managed to get her to say "it's not bad news".
Now normally I would be very happy to hear that, but I thought into the wording. "Not bad news" doesn't mean an acceptance, it means no rejection, so now I am dreadfully afraid of a waitlist. So my question is: does NYCOM send out waitlists this early in their admissions cycle? Or am I just being the usual neurotic pre-med?
Sorry for the long post. Thanks for your time! 🙂
probably reading way too much into it. i don't think anyone got waitlisted so early in the cycle last year. "not bad news" sounds like a nice unofficial way to say "youre in" without blatantly saying it so as to keep it "official." good luck let us know how it turns out.
why was your interview bad btw?? our interviews are usually ez mode...

I'm very upset; I just checked my mail and there wasn't anything from NYCOM today. If they sent it out Wednesday, it should have definitely been here (I'm from Brooklyn). I guess it's called "snail mail" for a reason.
This wait is killing me!
Just got the letter, IM IN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
I think they're mistaken. They only just made decisions on Thursday so my thoughts are that they started printing up decisions that afternoon and threw them in the mail but the post office didnt even pick them up until Friday morning.

So I'm in Brooklyn and the mail came and nothing. Are you sure I would have gotten it today?Actually, Semicolon was right.I just got my acceptance letter and it written on December 3rd.
Semicolon, you should be receiving letter today. Those in NYC will get their's today. Unless you were waitlisted of course....
There's a good chance, but I'm going to NSU-COM on Monday for an interview the following day, and I love that school so if I get in there, that may change things.
You interviewed at NYCOM on the 12th too, right?? If you wouldn't mind, please describe yourself so I can put a "name" with a face lol.

Also, if I was waitlisted, would they at least have the courtesy to let me know so I can end this dreadful waiting? I have already almost come to terms with the fact that I didn't make the cut, just have that little glimmer of unsubstantiated hope that I am sure will be wiped out when I get the waitlist letter. Also, although decisions were possibly made on Wednesday, the Dean has to sign off on/approve every decision afterward.

That's ridiculous. Perhaps decisions were made on Wednesday and were dated as such. However, if you look on the previous page, they specifically told us at the admissions office that they were starting to send out letters Thursday afternoon and would "continue to do so" the following day, on Friday. Just because someone did not receive their letter yet it does not mean they were waitlisted. Please don't start freaking out people unnecessarily. No offense to you at all. I just know how it feels to be completely freaking out and I'm confident that those who interviewed during the first two weeks have an excellent shot. They interview their top picks those two weeks.
Semicolon, I'm sure you will receive something soon.

Hey what about drwilson? The letter was personalized and signed (by the Dean) on December 3rd. I don't know how they would have done that if the Dean had not approved of the adcom decisions earlier not afterwards.
Secondly, I wasn't aware that NYCOM sends out their letters in batches. If they are, then I will advise Semicolon to wait till Tuesday to see if the letter arrives. If it doesn't, then he should call to find out his stats. Being in-state, I think he has a great shot.

The 6th. The only possibility that I can think of is that the letters just simply didn't get to us yet. The lady told you that "it's not bad news," so I am assuming you are in and just haven't recieved confirmation in the mail. Then again if other people in Brooklyn got it then we should have too, I guess. I don't really know how the postal service works. I am from Coney Island, which is kind of far. I don't know. I am going to go get drunk tonight. This is too much for me, lol.I assume you and me might just be in a similar situation. When did you interview?
Ah, I see. My mistake. Carry on.Already replied you. Couple of posts above.....👍

I would think that is the case. I live in Sheepshead Bay, which is relatively close to Coney Island, so perhaps our part of Brooklyn simply didn't get any love today. You can't really trust the postal service to be too efficient.
i probably know you
You do? lol
drwilson, I interviewed on the 11th.
well im russian so by default i know everyone on sheepshead
Sorry, Ukrainian here. 😛
I thought most Russians were in Brighton Beach still? Do you live in Sheepshead Bay, too?
relax people. I didn't recieve anything yet either. Just relax and be patient. In the mean while, go out and get some wine to relax urself🙂
Btw congrats tournnn~!
