Their website is not at all informative and I would like to answer the secondary prompt of reasons for applying to NYCOM.

Hi All,

So I applied for an account with the email that used for AACOMAS. I started glancing over the questions/inquiries by just clicking "Save & Continue" without filling out the space with my answers. Now I have no way to go back to the previous pages. What can I do? Does anyone encounter this kind of question like I do? Do I need to apply for another account?:scared:
Plus, I don't remember seeing any question like "why you're interested in applying to NYCOM"..... Where did you guys see this prompt?

Great Rotation Sites in NYC and Long Island
Systems based curriculum

I really stressed location when I wrote my prompt last year because that was the main reason why I chose NYCOM over PCOM.

Had an off-topic question for you, since I see you are in the Class of 2014...are you guys using "Gray's Anatomy for Students"? I already have a copy of the Rohen and Netter Anatomy books, but wondering if I bought the wrong thing - are you using those books at all?
 
hey guys, i'm also an applicant for the fall 2011 class. i just called admissions and they said interview invites will be going out next week.

Yeah, we use Gray's Anatomy for Students as our Anatomy book. It's good you have those other 2 tho... Rohen's is an awesome atlas when studying for practical exams because it uses actual pics. My roommate has Netter's atlas of human anatomy and I consult it for anything I can't see in Rohen's. You'll be in good shape for next year 🙂
 
i submitted my secondary and paid about 3 weeks ago with a credit card and never received a "complete" email. when i log into my account, i can still "edit' versus "add additional info." should i just call or email admissions and see if they actually got my supp app? i wasn't sure, by not using paypal, the processing got delayed..

I would definitely call. I got a complete email 2 days after I paid and then I could no longer edit my app. Good luck!
 
I am from OHio with a very good GPA and decent MCAT score and I'm debating whether I should add NYCOM. Would anyone happen to know they accept a good amount of people that are OOS?

one of their admissions representative came to my school this week and i asked him about that. he told me that they have to take 60% from new york. good news for me haha. you should apply if you think you got a chance.
 
can you guys update asap if you get invited to an interview? i want to know if they started sending out invites yet.
 
Just got an interview invite today.

"Phase I: Wait for invite" is now complete. "Phase II: Develop anxiety disorder" is now under way

Location is important for me too, and if I had to choose between the 2 you listed, I'd probably pick NYCOM over PCOM as well.

Quick question: do you remember around when you were complete and when you got interviews for the two? You're also in-state for NYCOM, correct?

How long after submitting your secondary and having LORs sent did any of you receive complete emails? Or is there no such thing at NYCOM?

I haven't received any emails from them and when you call and ask them about it, they tell you they're swamped and that they can't check it for you
 
Got the interview invite on 10/13! I'll be there 11/4.

I'm a NYS applicant with my primary application complete in mid June. I didn't submit my secondary until after I got the interview invite so it looks like they only review your primary application for interviews.

This is true. Read the invite e-mail. My secondary wasn't submitted at the time of my interview invite because I was still hunting down one of the past DO's I've worked with for an LOR. The only catch though is you can't schedule the appointment until you submit.
 
Did anyone get an invite this week? I'm a New Yorker and this is my top choice so after I heard they were sendin out invites, I've been checking my email everyday haha. Anyone got good news?
