• More established
• Closer to home (8 hour drive)
• No mandatory attendance, lighter dress code
• Pass/Fail
• Affiliated with a larger University/ shared campus
• Clean and new looking campus
• Resonates with my wanting to provide medicine for the underserved
• Telemedicine certificate and other programs that are offered
• Research opportunities
• Cheaper cost of living
• Cooler looking white coats 🙂

Cons

• Hasn't graduated a class yet through the Jonesboro campus
• Difficulty in finding rotation sites within Arkansas due to "state favoritism with ARCOM"
• Jonesboro has no social life
• Moving to Old Westbury for rotations?

ARCOM

Pros

• Community driven
• Very new school
• Cheaper tuition
• Cheap housing
• Established rotation sites

Cons

• Hasn't graduated a class
• In the middle of nowhere
• Not affiliated with a university
• Mom doesn't like this school
• Still not completely accredited
• Far from home
• Mandatory attendance and dress code

VCOM (Louisiana)
46k tuition
Pros

• Driven faculty
• Cool looking
• Cheap tuition
• Mother VCOM network is very established
• Inaugural class
• Waived student health insurance
• Dining hall access with tuition
• Halal food nearby in Louisiana
• Loved the faculty and staff here
• Very fun time interviewing and meeting the interviewers
• Resonates with my wanting to provide medicine for the underserved
• To my understanding, lighter dress code
• Cheaper cost of living

Cons

• Inaugural class so no older students to get advice from
• No established rotation sites
• Super far from home - would need to fly out which is pricey
• Louisiana is broke
• Mandatory attendance

Summary: Mainly, I am stuck deciding between NYITCOM and VCOM. I am waitlisted at LECOM - Erie and have an interview at UIWSOM in February which might end up being an interview for a waitlist since it's so late in the cycle. I also have loads of questions about NYITCOM that I would love to ask a current student so if you are one please reach out to me, make yourself known!!!! Thank you for all the help in advance.

I wouldn't even consider NYIT JB or VCOM-LA. The education at JB is very poor from talking with a student there, and LA has pitiful resources. The fact the state doesn't want JB there is very telling.

Honestly of the schools on this list I would choose ARCOM and not even blink twice.
