Did you get accepted?

I was saying that we should receive the letter by tomorrow if they were sent Monday. I have not received anything yet. It's already been 14 weeks for me.

for those of you waiting on mail from new york medical, i believe there is another thread that talks about this

Interview: First week of January
Email: Acceptance, 3/20/06. Email says official letter will be sent today to my permanent AMCAS address.

Good luck everyone!

I interviewed on January 10th and I haven't heard anything yet.

Same thing happened to December people.

The admission people don't review all January's files in one day. It takes about two weeks for all files to be reviewed and acceptance e-mails sent out. If you did not get an acceptance e-mail today, you may get one later. Call the admissions office and they can tell you if a decision has been made (the person on the phone does not know the actual decision, just that one has been made).

Don't worry if you didn't get an e-mail and feel you should have. Same thing happened to me. Although I'm waitlisted, after they sent out the initial batch of acceptance e-mails to everyone, I called them and they said that my application was still under review, one week later, I called again and they said that a letter had been mailed (if they say that, then it's not an imediate acceptance).

Interviewed early Jan, just got the e-mail yesterday that I was accepted (apx. 10 wks).

When did you interview exactly? I called yesterday and they said that they had not yet gotten to the 2nd week of January interviewees (Jan 10th for me), and that it could be 2-3 weeks before I hear anything.

oddly enough, i int first week of feb and just got an acceptance, march 22. Holla

I got an email today with the news, good luck to everyone else.

Are waitlists and rejections coming in via e-mail?

No, they come via regular mail

After 22 rejections (Too many Ivies and OOS schools), a pending divorce and a mood disorder, my Jan. 10th interview paid off. I'm going to be a doctor!!!

Congratulations. On the acceptance, I mean, not the pending divorce. I was hoping that you would hear good news.

Tough times. 🙁

You've earned this one! Congrats.

for those of you wondering if no news for a long time = bad news, i have some good news 😉

interviewed 11/21

accepted via e-mail 4/3

that took them a hell of a long time, huh?

I interviewed on Jan 31st and also received an acceptance email this morning! I think I am still in shock...I am really going to be a doctor! I wish all of you the best that are still waiting. I know what it feels like because until today I did not have a single acceptance to med school, only a spot on two waitlists. I hope for those still waiting that you have happen to you what happened to me...that you get an acceptance offer on the day you least expect it! 😀

I interviewed on jan 30th and just received an e-mail acceptance today. Hope the acceptances keep rolling in for everone, good luck.

Congrats BOBODR!!! That is so awesome!!! I know when I started reading this thread several months ago that you were waiting then so I am happy you finally got that acceptance letter!

Seeing that people who interviewed the same day that I did (Jan 10.) have received email acceptances and I wasn't as fortunate, am I wrong to assume that now I'm waitlisted at best? Or is it possible that they don't review a day's entire group together and I still could get good news?

It is possible that they do not review everyone's apps for that day. Although I am waitlisted, my app was reviewed one week after some other people from that day and cycle got their acceptance e-mails. Call them and ask if a decision has been made. If a decision has been made and you did not get an e-mail, then you are probably waitlisted, but if a decision has not been made, there is hope.

Thanks Caligirl! Feels good to be part of a class.

interviewed in october, waitlisted in december, accepted 4/4!

those who got accepted off the waitlist, did you send update letters or a LOI?

I realize Im piggybacking off of this thread - but just wanted a few opinions on NYMed. I have an interview coming up and wondering if I should even go (would save me a bunch of ben franks if I dont go). Anyone have good/bad things to say about the school in general??

Thanks in advance.

I was not really impressed with the location (seemed a bit dull) but the facilities were quite nice (lecture rooms and especially the anatomy lab [however the lab is only good for your first year really]). I would say if you hold an acceptance somewhere else, don't bother since I see you are from California and the hotels in the area aren't the cheapest (NY is expensive). White Plains/Westchester county is very white-collar and there isn't much to do, however the city is only 30 minutes away by train (express metro). Another positive is that on-campus apartments are available and are relatively inexpensive and parking is easy/cheap (something in the neighborhood of a $20 deposit). I couldn't find alot of restuarants in the area (big turn-off for me ). However, the school seems to train you very well in the field of medicine (I think they boast a 100% Step 1 pass rate for the last couple of years) but the surrounding area may be suspect if that is a priority for you. I dunno where you are from in california but growing up in Brooklyn\Los Angeles\Huntington Beach\Irvine, I am used to having alot of things around me to do and go to and I take the surrounding area to be one of my top priorities in decision making. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks chrishuynh for the info! - At least now I'll be prepared when I go there - Yes, I decided to go check it out. Besides a few ben franks I dont have much to lose. It sounds like a great school and I could be missing out on it if I dont go. Im used to having the convenience of a store being at .25 mile away but think I might need the peace and quiet of a suburb area to keep my sanity and would be a good change. Hey, the inexpensive parking is a big positive! 🙂

By best advice, is don't take anyone's word for it. Go see it for yourself. You may save by not going...but think about what you might be losing.

I got my acceptance on 4/4 after interviewing 10/15 and being waitlisted by 12/17. I was pretty sure they'd forgotten all about me. And it being my first interview, i didn't think it went all that well....BUT I DID send a letter of interest, and to my utter amazement, my acceptance email magically appeared...it really works!
