Interviewed 3/26. Waitlisted this morining. I pray I get in. I love this school.
same here, waitlist letter. Its strange as it seems they haven't rejected anyone and accepted less ppl who interviewed in march. Anyway gluck to you all. We're back at square one.me too
Has anyone gotten straight up rejected post-interview or are they just adding everyone to the WL?
Also, is it just me or is it ludicrous to not have a ranked WL, my guess is that we are all ranked, but they choose not to tell us?
Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard back!

I was just speaking about this over dinner with my parents. To me, with an un-ranked WL, I fear that I am just at the bottom of some huge pile due to the fact that I was added 5/5. What do others think?
It also concerned me that people who had been on the WL since, say, October were just coming off of it within the past month.
I tend to think that the person pulled off the waitlist depends in large part upon the person who has turned down a spot. So the waitlist is not a straight-forward seeding arrangement because certain factors, whether this is the male/female or trads/non-trads ratio, must be taken into account each time a spot opens up. I'm sure there's some sort of score given to the person, but it's not as cut and dry as a single ranked list. I also think the date of entry is less important than other factors.
Agreed, sorry if I wasn't clear.
What I meant is that they should have a tier system where they can tell you top 1/4 or bottom 1/2 or something like that.
I'm guessing there are over 200 ppl on the WL so it'd be nice to know at least in general how we compare to other applicants, not necessarily a fully ranked list. It seems improbable that they will look at all applicants when someone declines an acceptance, they obviously will look to a small pool of WL'ers (aka a tier) and select from there.
Sorry if this dragged on. I really liked NYMC and I'm not digging the fact that after 9 months of waiting we get a vague 'somewhere on the WL' position.

There's no doubt that this is a frustrating process. But multiple waitlists is nothing to shrug off. It means that you are competitive and that medical schools are interested. If it works like I've seen it in other schools, then it should be 300-400 acceptances for a class size of 200 and a waitlist about the same size, which gives maybe 600-800 people playing in the nymc pool. What I'm struck by, and this is limited info coming out of mdapplicants, is the number of nymc accepted that decide to go elsewhere. It was maybe 1 in 8 or something on nymc. Now, as you get lower on applicant numbers, obviously that ratio is going to go up, but I do believe there is large movement on the waitlist. To quantify that movement from year to year has to be a pretty difficult exercise.
Has anyone interviewed in March and still not heard back yet. I interviewed March 12, and still have not heard anything.
people who were waitlisted/accepted, did your status change online?
I interviewed on 4/9 and just got accepted through e-mail.
Stay Cheery! Interviewed 4/15 accepted 5/12 no waitlist. So I think there are actively spots available or people are moving. I'm not a super awesome candidate and I had, what I thought anyway, a bad interview.
I dont know if I should call nymc to get a status check. I interviewed early-mid march and a lot of people on this forum who interviewed in march and april have heard back. however, the secretaries also get pretty annoyed when people call in. any advice? still wait a bit longer. when i interviewed, the guy had said we would prob hear back by may 15th.
interviewed 5/5, accepted today (e-mail at 8am)...will be withdrawing, though🙂 goood luck!!!
You interviewed a week ago?? That must be a typo
nope, not a typo...definitely interviewed a week ago--their second-to-last day of interviews...
👍Thank you to those of you who have freed up spots!
