Has anyone heard anything recently?
they seem to do it every thursday, hang in there.
Has anyone heard anything recently?
So I have a question for those of you waiting on NYMC and not accepted anywhere else. If you are reapplying and plan on submitting soon, do you also send your primary to NYMC? What if they see that you are reapplying before they even give you a decision for this year? Would they look at that negatively in a sense that you have given on this year even though you really havent? Thoughts anyone?
Guys---as far as reapplying goes (I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone). How much do you have to change your personal statement and the way you write your activities on AMCAS? Can you modify your personal statement slightly, use your old activities verbatim, and add a few more from the last cycle? Also, what if you still aren't sure what your plans are for next year? Ugh, this is so stressful!
Also (last question, I swear!), as a wait list candidate at NYMC, what are the most amount of steps you can take for financial aid? So far all I've done is fill out FAFSA. Do I need to fill out any school-specific forms?
sorry this might not be the best place to post this ...but for those who withdrew, did nymc send you back your deposit refund yet? i withdrew a month ago and still havent gotten anything....i wonder if i should call them.
What was the date you withdrew? I think you only get deposits back if you withdraw before May 15th. You should call.

hi guys, sorry this is so late -- i was on vacation!
i withdrew from the waitlist a couple of weeks ago, but still received an accept on 6/17. i declined it yesterday (sorry again, on vacation and wasn't checking my e-mail.) so there's a spot open![]()
hopefully theres some good news for some of us on thursday.
For those who got off the waitlist, does NYMC email or call you to notify? How much time do they give you to decide?
Hey Guys,
Just to let you know I'm really hoping you all get in, this was my second time applying so I know how hard it is. I got the email at 12:08 est. I had a 30 MCAT, and a 3.4 UGPA and a 3.3 science GPA. Though I also had a 3.7 from Loyola's SMP. If there's anything else you guys want to know just ask. My advisor at Loyola said most waitlist movement for NYMC comes in July, so theres still plenty of time/hope left!

gplex...you really think so??? I am beginning to lose all hope... 🙁
GeorgesStPierre...keepin my fingers crossed for us too!
and congratulations chulhoe...hope we are classmates!
I know just how painful this waitlist business is....I'm a third time applicant
I'm currently waitlisted at NYMC and would love love love to go there...I'm also waitlisted at UC Davis and UPitt, also both wonderful schools I'd love to attend as well. I'm accepted at UIC- which is exciting, and I know I'll like it- but a girl can dream for other options.
3.54 GPA with a 3.3 science, 35 MCAT- activities and such were plentiful.
In 2004 I applied...late....very late. And got no interviews.
In 2005 I applied early, interviewed at 3 schools and was waitlisted at at UC Davis and USC and didn't get in anywhere. (I did get an interview at NYMC and must have blown it- I was so sad!)
I did a 1 year MS program in Nutrition at Columbia (beautiful program, and they're still accepting apps for this fall- shameless plug) and did very well there. I had to re-take the MCAT because they were older than 3 years and got the exact same score and breakdown (sweet relief).
3 times applying isn't really anything to brag about- or be ashamed of- so many well-qualified applicants just don't get in the first time they try- and so many more get in off the waitlist.
....searching for a point to this post...I guess I just want to say to the people who are waitlisted and haven't had an acceptance yet- you can have hope, but don't wait to re-apply or find alternatives for the fall! I applied for my MS program when I was waitlisted, and I was so glad to have a fall-back plan when things didn't work out for me. Also, don't give up- it might seem like it's too much work to re-take the MCAT, have the expense of re-applying, or make plans to go to a medical school that isn't your top choice, but in the end, if it's what you really truly want to do, it's worth it to do the time and expense.
And keep updating for acceptances- I probably look at this thread a bajilliion times a day to reassure myself that the waitlist hasn't been forgotten!
congrats to both of you on your acceptances. I dont even know what I would do if I got accepted but Itd probably go something like a kid in a candy shop.
I got my first MD acceptance last week at Albany Medical College which i had written off cuz i had peaked at my file at the interview and my raw score (preinterview) was about as low as it could get. I suppose I was reviewed favorably at the interview.
In any event, if I got into NYMC, which im still hoping for it would give me a choice between med schools, something I thought I would never have. and NYMC has a big advantage of being only 45 min away from home.
I wouldnt even know where to begin in comparing these two schools.
For all of you accepted elsewhere but on the NYMC wait list, please go elsewhere!!! haha j/k. (sorta). I was just doing some research on Columbia's MS in Nutrition program per your suggestions, and it looks really interesting. Do you have to take the GREs or do they accept MCATS?
I heard Albany has a terrible campus. Is that true?
