Hey Waitlisters,
Just wanted to let you know if you think that you might be getting off the waitlist and joining the class of 2011 there are some things you should do so so that way you jump in with us, rather than have to go through a lot of bull**** in 10 sec.
1) Fill out a FASA form online, it takes about 2 weeks to get processed
2) Have a physical, dig out your immunization records and see if you need any new immunizations or booster shots.
3) Start reading up on how your going to finace this thing called med school because you need to find $250,000 for four years (not including the 6% interest rate that will be accumulating while you are in school).
Hope you guys get in, I was in your position last year so I send all my good vibes to you guys!!! 🙂

so I guess no one's got anything...🙁
Not yet
Why would you choose NYMC over other med schools?
I guess I am waiting to do the cost/benefit analysis until after I have choices.
yeah, well after my state school kicked me in the nuts, nymc is looking like my best option.
someone on facebook reported that they got accepted this morning... ugh 🙁

hey everyone - just wanted to let you know that I was accepted off the waitlist yesterday...I interviewed in March then got waitlisted in May. I sent them a letter shortly after I got waitlisted just expressing my interest in the school and I think that really helped. My stats are: 29Q, 3.6GPA, 3.5 BCPM. I wish you the best of luck and definitely keep hope alive!!
and once again i have nothing today🙁
I'm starting to think NYMC is not going to accept me anymore...ughh...this sucks...I just want to know how many spots are available still and if the waitlist is going to move much more!....gluck to everyone that's still waiting (I feel your pain)!!!
i also feel your pain. looks like i might be chair person of the 2008 reapplication party!
that would be the shiznit. every morning i wake up and think, ok if i don't have any email from nymc, then i won't let myself be disappointed... and it NEVER works. but i guess reapplying isn't the end of the world. it might be some other cliche, but it's not "the end of the world."
I'm tired of reapplying, I want to be someone's Dr. already!
still waiting...i interviewed early January waitlisted March.

Well for some odd reason (Even though I sent them an email to remove me from the waitlist) NYMC sent me an email yesterday with my acceptance, which I politely declined via email as well (Going to Downstate)...Which means that hopefully one of you SDNers will get my slot! 😀
Good luck to you all still waiting!!

Good luck to you all still waiting!!

I know that they did that just to annoy those of us still waiting.
i want to pimp slap somebody
I assume that you brought the baby powder for that.
another day goes by... and i feel like crap!
i thought june was supposed to be the busiest month for wait list movement... so there is like one week left in june. wtf!!

i submitted the texas application last month but I gave myself till the 20th of June to hold off in submitting AMCAS... it's the 20th now and it has come time to submit my life savings AGAIN 🙁
have you all already re-applied for the 2008 application cycle?

I sent mine in last week. It just got verified, and now my first choice school out of my waitlists is telling me I will probably get an acceptance during the next week or two. There goes close to $1000...though I doubt I'll care about the money if I get an acceptance, it would have been nice to have that money for a 3000+ mile move.
Good luck everyone.

hey nka, so was that not nymc saying you would probably get an acceptance next week? my premed advisor send not to submit amcas until july 31st, when i absolutely know nymc will not take me...

No, that wasn't NYMC that told me I'll get an acceptance soon. My premed advisor said that waiting until too late to reapply could be a critical error, and is the biggest reason that some people have to apply a third time. It is much better to lose some money than to apply too late and either not get an acceptance at all, or miss out on some of the better schools. She told me to apply by June 15th, or at the very latest June 30th because otherwise people will already by going through secondaries and getting interview offers by the time schools start and the waitlist officially ends. She told me all this even though she said she is fairly confident I'll get an acceptance off one of my waitlists.
so our premed advisors are giving conflicted advise. plus, i would be applying without significantly improving my application. earliness would be my only new advantage, since i wasn't verified for 2007 cycle until october.
bump
im thinking we all have basically one more opportunity to get in when they send another batch out prob in 2 weeks... yikes... i don't want to take 2 years off bc i have nothing new to add to my amcas
