NYU Acceptances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Now I'm not losing hope! I interviewed Nov. 1st, and thought that it was pretty much over for me. Hang in there!

As to when reponses are supposed to go out, on the sheet of paper given to us during interviews, it says that all acceptances will be mailed out by Jan 31 and waitlists and rejections will go out mid-Feb. But I'm not sure whether they have changed this.

it looks as though they have changed this. when i called, the woman said that acceptances will be sent out this week and possibly next week as well. if you haven't lost hope, i wont either 😳

I'm trying to keep up hope! I interviewed the end of October so I figure its pretty hopeless to me but its not over till the fat lady sings right? i pray for us all

Hopefully we'll get a few more acceptances here today. Good luck everyone!

ok,
You guys are not going to believe this. I just called NYU and this was the conversation i had,
me: Hi, i interviewed at NYU and was wondering if all the responses will be sent out by the end of this week.
lady: No, responses started going out last and will continue to be sent out till the end of february.
me: You mean the rejects will be sent out at the end of february?
lady: NO, i mean that all responses, accepts, rejects and waitlists, will be sent out till the end of february

And i like, what in the poopy crap is that? I thought acceptances will all be out by this week.
Can someone pls call to confirm or refute this. Maybe the lady was the boss' daughter and does not really know about admissions. Otherwise, NYU is making me crazy.

Just to add fuel to this fire, I just called and was told that acceptances started going out last Wednesday and will continue going out through the end of next week. Waitlist and rejection decisions will start going out at the end of next week. To make this totally arbitrary process feel even more random, the Dean is apparently still making decisions... by sorting through the pile of files sitting on his desk at this very moment. These decisions are in no way being made in order of when you interviewed and/or the strength of your application. Go figure! But I feel strangely better.

It seems like the admissions office at NYU is a mess! I guess I feel better too 🙄

Gosh haha...this is so frustrating. I have 2 more interviews across the country that I need to book tickets for SOON (very expensive tickets, no less), but I'd turn them down happily for NYU. I wish things were a bit more...coherent.

Hey, I interviewed the same day! I *thought* my interview went fairly well, so I'm still holding on to some hope. Good luck to you as well!

Don't lose hope guys 😳

I know exactly how you felt because I felt like I was almost on the verge of a meltdown from the anticipation of knowing the letters were going out. I was a very crabby person 😡 But the letters will come!! Anyday!

Yay! I can't wait to meet you guys in March! 😛

Really? What a coincidence! I wonder which one of the interviewees is you. From what I remember, it was a pretty good-looking group 🙂 Anyway, best of luck yo you too!

Just a note for those that sent in their deposit already. NYU sends out a confirmation in the mail stating that they received your deposit.

😱 did anyone who interviewed in nov or later get an acceptance yet? i feel like those who interviewed in sept/oct have been getting them...what about some love for the nov/dec applicants? would we have a harder chance getting in cause we interviewed later?

I hand delivered mine to the admissions office yesterday (piles of folders everywhere). We'll see how long the turn around time for this is.

congrats punks. welcome to hell.

Any news today from NYU?

I have heard directly from two different admissions receptionists that:

1) Acceptances will continue to roll out until the end of next week when they will be finished and that other decisions are sent afterwards (Today's receptionist)
2) Acceptances will come out now until the end of February [ I even clarified that I meant acceptances and not just "decisions" ] (Yesterday's receptionist).

There is clearly poor communication amongst the admissions staff.

Why can't they just tell us our fate over the phone? 👎

I heard #2 from today's receptionist and #1 from the one a couple days before. Life continues to be sad. 👎

Anyone wanna call and try to wrestle out a decision by phone? =)

my impression when i called yesterday is that they are still making decisions as we speak... so it's not like they know and are just keeping the information from us...

haha! much. 🙂

Awwww!! You guys are so sweet. I really hope you guys get in 😳 I would LOVE to go to school with people like you!

i'm incredibly jealous of everyone going to NYU. just had to get that off my chest. so lucky. anyone who turns down an NYU acceptance is a damned FOOL.

I can't believe I've been away from the internet (and thus SDN) for a week! I received an NYU acceptance (yay!) on Wed, Jan 25th. It was sent to VA. I interviewed in mid-October. Good luck for all those still waiting. For those who are in, I look forward to meeting you on the 3rd/4th of March.

Edit: The letter itself was dated 1/18, I do not know when it was actually postmarked tho.

congrats to you dakota and everyone. It must be so exciting. I hope to get into NYU but i interviewed on the very last day, 21st of december,. soooooo i know if i will be feeling any love but if i dont,i know for sure that you guys will take care of my NYU for me and make sure you rep it right.
congrats lucky peopleeeeeeeeee

The acceptance letter is also on some pretty slick security paper. If you photocopy it "VOID" shows up all over the letter. It's not obvious before photocopying tho, pretty spiff.

And no, I don't photocopy my acceptance letters and flyer them around campus, my apartment mail isn't very reliable so I route my things through my home address. My parents then send me photocopies of correspondences.

Wow. That's such a smart idea.

Does anyone have any idea what time the Revisit weekend starts on Friday, and if it would be preferable to fly in the night before or the day of?

I think we should start a new thread for that within the next week or so.

Sounds like a plan... damn i'm so excited about being at nyu next year

So just as a current look at the situation, the only people that have been admitted so far interviewed before December?

That's what it seems like. Please post if you interviewed late, and have heard back.

Anyone else hate Sundays?

Does anyone know if we have a white coat ceremony, or when classes actually start up?

There is a White Coat Ceremony. First week of classes is usually the last week in August. The week before that will all be orientation, and is mandatory. This year we moved in on like Aug 18 (a Friday) and orientation was the entire next week. Classes started after that.

Orientation is pretty cool. Most morning are all "welcome to med school" type stuff with deans, profs, students, giving you the rundown of how things work and what to expect. In the afternoons and at night there are parties/activities (broadway show, dinner cruise, etc) to get to know your class and see a bit of the city. Its a great week, and a ton of fun. White Coat Ceremony is then on the Friday of orientation week.

NYU send us some love this week so that we can also get excited about the white coat ceremony. AMEN

I agree. Hearing about this REALLY makes me want to get in now, but we shall see I guess. Hopefully this week is the week!

I could be wrong but I think those who interviewed in november haven't heard either. Any november interviewees receive an acceptance?

I did, Nov. 18th I believe.

Called the office again today. Last acceptances will be going out on February 1st (should have been Jan 31, but they're running a bit behind). After that, only waitlists and rejections. Good luck, everyone! 🙁

thanks waychanger- that's very helpful. at least we now have some set dates! :luck:

I am continually reassuring myself with the knowledge that mail takes a few days to go from New York to Illinois.

Patience is definetly key. I got my letter today (the 30th) but it was written on the 19th. That's 11 days, but I live only a little under two hours from New York. So, I would keep your hopes up until at least a week after the last day they say they're written. Easier said than done, but try to stay positive. Good luck guys.
