i guess ill keep asking until i get some people to answer...how much are people looking to pay for rent??...i am in the city right now looking and trying to understand what budget I should be thinking of.....i know im gonna share an apartment....anyONE!?!?!?!....

$1000+

ehheh..fruity...yeah im guessing 1000+...but what are people's max?...ive been looking around the 1350 range...is that too much?

no that's actually slightly on the cheaper range I'd say, unless there is some particular quirk to the building.

I'd say plan 1500 or so as that's what the FA allocates us. Everyone's upward limit will obviously be different.

HOLY SHIIIIT....i think FA allots 1450 though..but damn...thats quite a bit of money....i guess its expected...man....what does financial aid give us for a monthly living expense? rent included?

going to have to let someone else field this question, I left my packet back home when I moved. So far the day-to-day living expenses in terms of food and daily items hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be...

OH yeah, What are you guys gonna wear to orientation? I know it states professional attire...does that mean we can wear like khakis and a collared shirt?...or does it mean like a dress shirt?...

wear whatevers, short of showing up in the buff, they ain't going to kick you out for your attire.

i'm going in jeans + shirt.

i feel like i'm not getting mail *surprise surprise*. where did this info come from? or am i blind? was it in our initial package?

all i've had were 2 packages.
1) computer stuff + health forms + "we call u colleague" stuff
2) intl student stuff

did we get other mailings?
i don't even know what time we're meant to meet, i'll call tomorrow or something. i think we're meant to wear suits, i met some intl dentists goin straight into D2 & they were wearing suits.
and yes, we're meant to bring our laptops...that's what the letter said in our 1st (& evidently the only) package.

as for the 1000+, i guess my answer sounded naive, but as someone else said, upper limits vary btwn the pauper & the prince lol. gdluck.

We're supposed to meet at 9am aug 22 at the orientation tent located on 25th st. between 1st and 2nd ave. We are supposed to bring our laptops..but i dont think im gonna wear a suit...im guessing a colared shirt and khakis are good enough...like jay said...i dont think they'll kick you out...

thanks!
but where did u get this info from? (meeting info), did i not get mailing then? 🙁 *whimpers*

with the attire thing, i'm not wearing my power suit, but i'm gonna wear dress pants and nice top, i s'pose :S. 😀

since im a late admit....i got all this info in one big packet...damn....thats still pretty dressy...i still will only wear a collared shirt..no tie....who knows...

sorry to be REALLY anal about this, but what did that letter telling us to meet @ the "orientation tent" entail?

i have not details (on paper) about orientation, aside from the fact that it's aug 22nd, and bring our laptop.

it says orientation is aug22-26.....report 9am sharp...blah blah....you will meet classmates........recieve class sched.....nyu id card..lockers....etc.....it also states when you can move into residence halls...(i am not living there)....and the whitecoat ceremony being sept 6th..(no guests)....thats about it....nothing really special...

interesting.

thank u.

Hey,
I got in touch with someone else from our glass and we are looking for a place together. E-mail me at [email protected] if you want to look for something together.

my friend needs to sublet her place for CHEAP for the month of october, if ppl are still lookin for a place @ that time.

she lives in the financial district, her usual rent is $1200, but she'll go pretty low, since subletting for October only is a little odd.

PM me if interested.

and gdluck with the rest of the search.

btw, did ANYONE get MORE mail from nyu, aside from the wad of paper they sent b4, regarding paying up, health forms & apt application forms?

my roomate told me (through email) that i had lotsa mail @ my old address, and it SEEMS importatn, & i can't get a hold of him 😱

from what I remember, there was some computer payment loan letter in case you wanted to finance your laptop purchase, and a big health scantron survey.

well i've arrived as well! i don't know yet what to think, it's still such a shock i suppose, im in stuy town and haven't yet met my roommate, although he somehow got here before me and got the way better and bigger room with the view of the east river which kind of sucks for me..i thought the rooms were the same size, oh well..it's crazy though none of this seems real yet, im sure it will kick in soon enough..i look forward to meeting you all at orientation tomorrow!
