What is the latest everyone? Have any other fresh applicants received an interview call yet? I heard interviews are starting tomorrow and continuing every week. For those of you going, please post your interview experience and what we can expect there.

I have heard a few people say that they have received interview calls, but they are not going since they have been accepted elsewhere. I know this has been mentioned before, but can those of you attending other schools please inform NYU to not bother sending you an interview letter. Perhaps this way, many of us that are waiting will get a response sooner.

does any one has an idea that how many applications r recieved every year and how many they call for inteview?
 
I called NYU to obtain an update on what's happenning with the interviews. Apparently, as many of you may already know, interviews are beginning this week and will be conducted every week. Interview calls will happen until April and we can be called anytime until then.

However, she mentioned one piece of info that I found interesting. When I asked what the criteria was for selecting a candidate for an interview, she responded by saying that they will be calling selected candidates with scores of 85 or higher (NDB1) and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

I am not mentioning this to discourage any applicants who have scored lower on either category. Perhaps this will not end up being case, perhaps the person on the phone was incorrect, perhaps this policy will change later. I really don't know, but this was what I was told. For those of you who may be worried after reading this, please do not give up. Nevertheless, please start thinking about other options you may have, including beginning your prep for next year, applying to UMN, etc.

Let's hope for the best. There is a seat for all us, the question is not if, but when 👍

My Wife went for the interview today..It seems to be true that they are accepting gpa over 3.0 and score over 85.I saw one candidate with NDB score of 85.Only 5-6 people invited..Very Very cordial atmosphere, answered all the questions , good tour of the college and excellent lunch where a fellow student answered all our questions..
 
Thank you for the feedback about the interview. Can you tell us more about the interview process for your wife? How long was the interview? Was it technical or just general questions? Was she interviewed by one person only or a panel? When will they inform the people interviewed of their decision? Please let us know these and any other relevant details. The interview took 15-18 mins..Mostly questions about you..About your score,about yourself where did u graduate from etc etc.

interviewed by 1 person.Decision on 15 days..

Score NDB-1 95 , GPA - 3.4

There was 1 guy with a score of 86 , 1 girl with a score of 91.

There was 1 lady who looked like she was doing a course in NYU..she was russian.There was another indian girl whose score I do not know.

That's all I have ,and I thought I should share it with you guys,

What was the interviewer's response? Ur wife feels positive about the whole process? First attempt at NYU?

As far as I know, Unlike many colleges, NYU accepts most of the people it calls for the interview.So i take it for granted that's the reason for them taking so much time for calling for an interview. They go through the papers properly. Only once the seats are nearabout full, do they start putting people in the waitlist. So my best guess [ and I am sure that I am 95% right], is that all those who have been called for an interview, will be offered a seat [unless they really bungle up their interview].
Regarding fresh Vs reapplicants, I have been informed that there is no special treatment for reapplicants. All that matters are your scores and when did you apply. A few reapplicants have been called coz they have managed to secure amazing part 1 scores.
Speaking of which, I am a reapplicant. I had been waitlisted last year. Unfortunately for me, 85 didn't take me anywhere. Let me see where does 88 take me this time 8-p

nice to hear from you again stranger...seems like de ja vu, february rolls around and we are both still waiting to hear from nyu just like last year!

God knows what the process is this year but all we can do is pray that we get our spots this time!

Yeah, getting into NYU would be dream come true for many of us. The difference is that last time, I woke up.. this time, I plan to take sleeping pills to live that dream 😛
Prady had mentioned about errr [ for lack of a better word] reactivated students[?] being called for an interview again. Had to read it firsthand in SDN to believe it. Though we all know that they make you feel at ease during the interview, we would have preferred to bypass it this time if we could have 😀.
Yeah Khurrum De Ja vu .. Just hope that it changes a bit this time.

Yesterday i received an interview invitation from NYU Through email and they told that they wld be sending me the formal letter with more details..
I applied in last week of dec...

Hi everyone,
I got an invitation for interview yesterday by e-mail. May be I will get a formal letter in the next week. My part 1 92%, gpa 3.03 and Toefl 250 (cbt).

I'm wondering whether the waitlist candidates from last year such as myself will have to wait till the very end to hear from nyu???
 
I am surprised they have not called you yet, since other re-applicants I know have been called. However, perhaps since you were already interviewed last year, they don't need to call you again. If one wants to be optimistic, perhaps the acceptance may be in the mail for you Khurram. I cannot understand why so few people have even received interview calls. Only 5-6 people came last week. Is that normal? They are taking their time this year. The good news is that they have started e-mailing candidates, so let's see what happens this week.

As far as I know, people [including reapplicants] with 92+ scores have been called as of yet. So Khurrum, a call for you, hopefully, should come soon
 
hey ajay, where have you been. How was your scores? write to me. Will mail you too soon about a different aspect I learnt about international dentist in USA. Was told by someone....was very depressed and discouraged after that. 👎

The thing is my GPA is above 3.0 according to WES but way below 3.0 according to CEC. I sent CEC report last year and got rejected. This year I took part two (83) and sent a WES (although I know they said they don't accept WES from this year. Just have a try). Do you think I have any chance? :scared: thanks 😳
 
Hi Minaliu,

When I spoke with them, they said they are only inviting students at this time with an ECE GPA of over 3.0, and NDB1 of 85 or higher. The chances may seem slim, but there is no harm in trying. GPA is one thing that we no longer have control of, so it is too bad that it is a stringent criteria. Who knows, maybe they will see something else in your file (part 2 for example) and still call you. Best of luck.

Hi prvn & Desi dentist,
I am reapplicant for Nyu, but did not get an interview from nyu last year. I got accepted at BU this year, so i am not going for an interview at Nyu.

Hi, well i checked at nyu and they told me that because I was interviewed last year and placed on the waitlist I will most likely not need to be interviewed again. They would send me my decision in the mail when it has been reached. When will that be? God knows..

Whoever applied to NYU, just call the addmission office and ask about the status of your application (Last name + social), they can tell you right away if you are scheduled for an interview, if they don't tell you anything, that means you have not been scheduled.
Anyway, I called them, they checked my status and they informed me that that I've got an invitation for interview.
You can actually choose beetwen the available dates, every Tuesday.
I thought that you guys should know how to find out if you are invited.

I had the option to choose between Feb 14th and 28th. I've scheduled myself for the 28th.
My NDB I is 88.

I just called up NYU this morning to inquire if I was scheduled for an interview (as per your information) and they told me that they can only disclose if the application is complete but nothing with respect to interview appointment.
Not sure whom you spoke to......lucky you. Good luck with the interview.

From what I can tell, so far, NYU is only inviting re-applicants and fresh applicants with NDB1 scores above 90. Has anyone, who does not fall into these categories, received an interview call yet?
 
Just called NYU.
They told me bout my application status , thats it.
Also, that will inform by email and mail if i have an interview.
