i am a fresh applicant.and my application was complete by jan 5 th ,so u must be getting ur call pretty sooon .all the best. 🙂

Hey Satvanton good score dude 👍 but your GPA is kind of low.
NYU only accepts ECE GPA's and has to be equal or over 3.00
Try with WES, I bet you'll have around 3.30 and apply only to those schools which accepts WES GPA's.

Hi Satvanton,

I was at the NYU interview so I can tell you what I was told regarding GPAs. Although they prefer GPAs above 3.0 and only from ECE, I believe if you tell them why your GPA is low, through a personal statement, they will give your application more consideration. Anyone who has pm'ed me about this, I have said the same thing. Show the school your genuine interest and explain any GPA shortcomings. If one course in the second year of your studies caused your GPA to be low, then explain this and show them that you have excelled in the 3rd and final year. Best of luck in your application.

Hi friends,

I have'nt heard anything from NYU yet. I applied in september 2005. Called them in october to check if my application was complete. they said it was. Also called them a couple of weeks back. They said it is complete..... 🙁 🙁
My stats are 88/3.64/280.
Very anxious. I am just praying I hear from them. Fido was very encouraging and said I will hear from them....But I dunno what' s going on. 😕

I am in the same boat too.Havent heard anything from them.When I called ,they asked me to be patient and just wait to hear from them.

i was little worried as in the Upenn interview Dr Lopez was asking me very curiously about my low Gpa and eventually got rejection in that, so little confused and worried
 
Don't feel bad about Upenn. Most people get rejections from there the admission officer you mentioned has been known to have tougher interviews. No one really knows what Upenn wants, other than diversity.

well firstly my day b4 the interview started with a bad note...!i missed my bus at 6:30 pm from wash d.c.!had to wait for the next bus scheduled to leave at 11:45 pm! 🙁 well eventually i was too early for that bus....for a change :laugh: eventually reached new york at 4 30 am! 😀 checked in the hotel (booked earlier ...got a cheap hotel in manhattan.....)could'nt get much sleep though.....went for the interview....well ahead of the scheduled time!saw 14 people already there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well got introduced to everybody!i was called by dr soberman!a lively person and a very funny guy too!we had a chat!but he asked me a clinical question too...which i was'nt prepARED OF 🙂 but somehow managed!!!!!!!!!! wellthe interview was pretty laid-back!we had a few laughs when he asked me what ur parents were doing in nebraska! :laugh: anywayz.....
after the interview we went for the school tour...awesome !mind-blowing school!when i went to the rosenthal center ...it was like entering a 5 star hotel!meta buddy of mine out there in the rosenthal center....my lecturer who is doing a aethetic dentistry program!we had lunch together!good food though!mind u!drool! :wow: i had steak,sandwich,drinks,everything i could eat.....dont want u gross u out....but i'm a real gourmet...and i dig good food! :laugh:
then i met lots of classmates who r currently enrolled!i was supposed to meet khurram......but unfortunately i got lost.... :laugh: well thatz nothing new to me!!! :laugh: sorry k...some other time....!well thatz pretty much ....my nyu experience!

I just want to know if there is a better chance of getting accepted to NYU, if you have an early interview? and how many students they interview. If anyone can help out i would really appreciate this.

To answer your question.
Nyu 1st called the people who were reapplicants and interviewed last year, like Khurram. 2nd they called reapplicants without previous interviews, like me and after that they will call the fresh applicants with over 90 Step 1 score and others with lower and lower Step 1 score until all the seats will be occupied.
This is my opinion and is not a fact !
Let me know if I'm wrong.
I think they are interviewing every Tuesday and Thursday, on the 14th of February was no interview at all and usally there are around 15 candidates at each interview.
Hope this cleared your doubts.

Hmm.. Looks like they overlooked me then. 85/3.67/280 turned to 88/3.67/280. I had been interviewed last year. And I am still waiting to hear from them. They got my updated part 1 score in Jan end or Feb beginning. That may or may not have caused the delay.
 
I am a fresh applicant with stats 85, 3.93, 277. what do you think my chances are for interview and possible addmission. I applied in Dec. I called up twice and they said my application is complete and under review. I am getting nervous please respond as honestly as possible.

Just to correct something.......khurram, AjayDas and I were interviewed last year and waitlisted. This year khurram and I were offered admission straight-up (without further interview). AjayDas is still waiting but I am sure he will get an admission offer soon, without further interview. Some of the waitlisted candidates were called for reinterview.

I have a question... are the interviews conducted once a week or twice?
 
AjayDas, I would suggest that you send them an updated personal statement and (if applicable) recommendation letters to reflect your continuing interest in the program and to also reflect on your improved application from last year. You should definitely get in with your scores, but do this for them and they should notice you. Keep in touch with them via the phone too on a weekly-biweekly basis.

Just to clarify to others who are asking. Interviews are held once a week and there are still many seats available. I am guessing at least 70 seats, so don't worry. There is no definite pattern to their interview calls. I received an interview letter very early despite being a fresh applicant with a score in the 80s. I know a few other students who were in a similar situation. Anyway, try to be patient, and if you have the stats, things should work out for you.
