Well i called NYU today for a status check. They said they are no longer doing status check, all the decisions are in the mail and we should be getting them by next week. So here comes the rejection from NYU. Thought I give everyone a heads up.

I got it the other day. How depressing. 🙁

but I can't understand why. I knew someone on the inside who told me I got the highest score they give on my interview (They rate people 1 to 5). My insider quit before the admissions committee met, because of a better job so I have no idea what happened.

How is it possible I got rejected after doing well on an interview? My stats are very strong, so I am just really confused. Any ideas?

Do you mean NYU is mailing out all of their post-interview decisions next week?? That seems really quick since they were still interviewing last week.

only thing i can think of is that maybe they want some diversity in their class. like maybe they wanted a music major or olympic gold medal winner or whatever... either that or your insider was feeding you BS.

I interviewed at NYU a while back and was told that the current class has had the highest scores on their exams (despite the fact that they are pass/fail), when compared to classes of the past 16 years or so.

I was also told by my tour guide that the admistration actually basically told the students not to study so hard, and was actually looking to seek out an entering class that was not as academically focused.

anyway, I guess this might mean that they wouldn't place as much emphasis on stats as maybe other factors. hope this helps.

No i was referring to post-secondary, pre-interview......sure enough I got mine already.
