NYU Waitlist 2007

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats on getting into Maryland, JB. I've heard great things about them on here and am looking forward to interviewing there in the near future. When you contacted them periodically, what sort of things did you say? I mean, giving them an update as to what you've been doing (shadowing, research, grades) is obvious, but contacting them every 2 weeks seems like you had a lot to talk about.

usually i sent application updates like shadowing, additional assisting, additional coursework, etc. via email.

i only contacted by phone when necessary. i was in a unique situation and i always liked to find out exactly what was going on with my application. out of respect to my current employer i really needed to find out if i would be at UMD or not. Also, i was about to sign a lease in NYC for NYU and i really really wanted to put this off until i heard from UMD.

there is no rhyme or reason to when you should contact the school. just be polite, consistent (NOT annoying), and very enthusiastic.

jb!🙂

Congrats JB. Hopefully, I get a call soon. 🙂

First time posting (more of an observer I guess)... Just wanted to share my NYU waitlist experience:

1) Interviewed in early Feb.
2) Waitlisted around March I think
3) Received phone call from NYU admissions secretary in late April early May asking if I was still interested and could make a deposit.
4) Received phone call from Dr. Mejia (sp?) two days ago asking the same questions as the secretary.
5) Just received a phone call today confirming my spot for NYU class of 2011!!

😀Unreal stoked😀 especially after basically writing off NYU due to the late factor. Sounds like there is still hope for any other waitlisters..And b/c I was curious about the stats of people that were getting accepted to gauge my own chances, here are mine:

B.S. Computer Science, minor Math and Chem
GPA: 3.25 GPA Sci:Same or lower not quite sure
DAT (AA/TS/PAT): 21/20/18

Anyways, hope this helps anyone who is waiting still and good luck!

Congrats. So basically unless you had received a call in April or May from NYU asking you whether you would be interested, there is no chance of making it this year. :sigh:

i officially withdrew yesterday, so someone will be getting a call soon.

good luck, jb!🙂

Got a letter saying the class is closed and waiting list will not be reviewd again.

you got a letter in snail mail or like email?

Mail. Am I the only one who got it? Looks like they really didn't like me. Lol.

every schools waitlist remains under review until the first day of orientation.

jb!🙂

Yeah thats what I thought. Then why reject me? 😱

I got a call from Mejia. I am in~~~~~~~~~

I got a call too..I am in but still havent decided if it will be NYU or USC..any suggestions.

easy one...USC. You are going to be spending big money anyways, at least go to the superior skool.

that is where i will be anyways!

well that does help...I got one NYU and one USC..its still a toss up

Congrats MSH. I'm also still waiting to hear. I would definitely have to agree with Babydoll. I would pick USC in a heart beat. Better school, better weather, solid choice. I've heard too many bad stories from students at NYU.

went in today to see my status...and found a group of interviewees...nice! (and confirmed it was for fall 2007 cycle):meanie:

Why would they interview MORe people if there are already a lot on the waiting list???

They just want him to go to USC so another spot opens at NYU....duh

Well either way if you choose USC or NYU you're screwed money wise, just go based on where you want to study,... in LA or in NYC. You're going to get the same education either way and the same degree.

HI

i read yr message that u r in waitlist at nyu & u r an internation student, i wanted to ask u that how much score did u get in nbde part 1? i gave exam in june 2007 and i got 80%. and my GPA is 3.75 so what should i do? do i hold any chance of getting admission at nyu or california la or sf. pls do reply. i m verymuch confused abt all this. thanks

hi

what is DAT? DO WEE NEED TO GIVE THAT EXAM EVEN IF WE HAVE GIVEN NBDE PART 1 TO GET ADMISSION?I HAVE GOT 80% IN JUNE 2007 AND GPA 3.70 SO DO I HOLD ANY CHANCE OF GETTING ADMISSION AT NYU?

Is there anybody that is or was on the waitlist and has received a rejection letter?

Just curious for the people who were rejected from NYU, if you even check back at this site, is it possible to let us know what your GPA and DAT score was so we all know what they felt was not sufficient. If you do not want to, of course I understand but I am just curious as to what they expect.

Thanks and good luck to everyone

anybody on the waitlist heard anything as of late??

Ive been on the waitlist since Dec 1st and still not rejection or acceptance... I already re-applied and am studying to re-take the DAT again next month.

i'm really interested in NYU and i was just curious as to what your dat scores and gpas were

I got off wait list today... PM me if you have questions!!!

Me tooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

I am so happy. I have no idea how to get loans now though lol. I havent filled out a FAFSA yet.

Just wondering, has anyone received the phone call from Dr. Mejia saying they are interested in accepting you off the waitlist and then turns out you didn't get accepted. Also, how long after that phone call do they tell you if your in or not?

i also got in off the waitlist on July 31. Submitted my deposit, but now I have to look for housing and do FAFSA.. ahh.. i am hoping there is some student housing available, and if not I guess i'll be apartment searching in manhattan

Your welcome...and congrats. I resigned my spot at NYU 2 weeks ago, and decided to take a year off and reapply. Good luck you guys and enjoy the school!

I believe there is still movement on the wait list.

I recieved a call in may never heard from them again and received a call on tuesday....

Apartment hunting in NYC is a PAIN. There is no student housing if you are from close. (robably not even if you are far!)
