me and my roommate had a discussion about this - so Koch is a german last name right? My roommate went to Germany spring semester of junior year - he said that you pronounce it like - Kock ... this came up because he was applying to a Koch Summer Internship.

which made me really curious as to how large the Kock Summer Internship program was?

anyways how is it pronounced in the US? that would be pretty sweet if there were Dr. Kocks

I'm asking because I interviewed on 12/4, and I was wondering if I could be included in the first wave?

I thought it was supposed to be sometime in December.

Hey Heimer,
From my understanding (which may be wrong), NYU starts sending acceptances out somewhere mid-to-late Dec (mid apparently was discussed in the packet we got @ the interview, late is quoted from the website). Acceptances will continue through Feb (?) when all decisions will be sent.

I'm not sure if a 12/4 interview would have been reviewed yet considering that they started inviting pp to interview in late-August, but the good thing about NYU is that they won't drag this on forever (with the decisions being sent by Feb)... who knows if they review the files in order or not.... ?

Last year small envelopes were sent (info from 2006 wall of fame).... interesting - it seems that the 1st SDN acceptances were late January.... hm.....

Actually, I don't remember reading that line at all! I thought it was late-Dec (actually, for some reason I thought ALL decisions went out in the same timeperiod in Feb - then it came up on SDN & I looked at the website - it said late Dec, then someone on SDN mentioned the packet - so that's the SDNr that deserves the credit 😉 )

Letters go out monday?? That makes me so nervous!! NYU was my first interview, and after 10 more, NYU is still the school I can see myself fitting in at the most. NYU I 😍 You! please don't break my heart before christmas!

I'm pretty sure we interview something like 800 and ultimately accept 400 with a class size of about 160.

How does this work? They send out 400 acceptances? What if everybody accepts? I guess they are pretty good at judging the yield if they can do that. Are people that interviewed later basically waitlisted, or have they already made decisions on us that will go out Monday? Guess I'll find out soon enough... 😕

then, based on who accepts/does not (guess they'll give people like 2 weeks to notify?), they will send out new ACCEPTANCES throughout january
in february, they send out REJECTIONS and WAITLIST

so, if you don't hear the good news this week, your chances went down dramatically. but you won't hear bad news until february.

NYU is great. Your ticket out of it is Tony's Tutoring Service. 😎 Dental School Exams, NERB's, what ever you need he is their. Exams start @ $500 and gets bigger as the years goes on. Llyod Becker in association with deans of the school make an effort that everyone gets a good chance of graduating.😉
