A question for those of you who are familiar with the OAT:

Is it essential to take two semesters of physics (Mechanics as well as Electricity and Magnetism) before taking the OAT? Or is just taking Mechanics sufficient preparation?

Thanks for any input!

I would say that it is essential, there was some electricity, magnetism and several optics questions.

I think it depends on how your secondary school prepared u for it...when I was in grade 12, it prepared me for everything on the oAT already, so it depends.

I too wondered and worried about the same thing for my October OAT becuase I have only completed Physics I. I tried to memorize some of the common equations from popular questions about Physics II so I wouldn't be completely clueless on those exam questions. I recommend you try some practice questions too. I had time left at the end of the physics section of the OAT so I went back to count the number of questions were Physcis I vs Physics II. I was delighted to find it the ratio was roughly 3:1 (favoring Physics I)!

if you havent completed physics two yet you really are gonna have a tough time. if you are worried about it, it will be more of a problem. if you werent worried about it and i would say go for it but you have doubts about it so it probably isnt a good idea.

It is a good idea to look over some basic formulas. I would suggest getting a study manual (at a bookstore or college library) and reading the sections you are not familar with, you can get a most of what you need in a weekend. Don't stress it you still have October.
