Obtaining an internship

I will be starting pharmacy school in the fall and I'm interested in the best way to obtain an internship. I'm aware that I won't be considered an intern until after school starts and I obtain an intern license. However, if I were to obtain a job as a pharmacy technician now, would I automatically be considered an intern once school starts or do I actually have to apply for an intern position?
