Is the OD curriculum structured similar to medical school where the first years are pre-clinic (1st basic science, 2nd medicine) and the next two are clinical?

What are the standard courses in OD curricula?

It is pretty similar. The first year is a lot of basic science with some clinical techniques mixed in. The second year has a lot of medical and more technique courses. You also have clinical course through out your 3rd year, as well as seeing patients in the clinic. During your 4th year there are no classes, you are doing rotations through different clinics that have emphasis in different areas. These areas are advanced care, ocular disease, pediatrics, primary care, low vision, cornea/contact lens (I think that is all of them).

You can find the course curriculums of the different school on their websites.

I have attached an old schedule from UAB... Though outdated, it should give you some idea of what the curriculum looks like.
