Maybe ... they sure went deep into the interview pool and no less than 3 or 4 got rejected for interviews and then offered an interview. And I know of one of THOSE that got accepted, so it is a very, very strange year for admissions. They just might go all the way through the alternates and even have to go back to get more! They tend to make the list the same size as the prior year's list that did get offered seats, therefore figure 8 or 9 on the alternate list this year as a minimum. UF seems determined to get their alternates into classes - they have done that for the past 10 years (except last year).

Yup. I remember the bumper stickers and the tee-shirts from when I applied there(and was rejected) for undergrad.

Ended up going to a school on the other side of the state. After the namesake of my college died(Rensselaer) his wife donated the remainder of his money to Cornell to spite her late husband. And that is how cornell ended up with Martha Van Rensselaer Hall.

Funny thing is I was accepted to Cornell's Ag school, but ended up in pharmacy school instead. Cornell was too expensive for me to attend as an undergrad. I came back for my Masters, and ended up a townie.

Ah, Martha Van. I wonder if they tore the building down yet? Been a while since I was in town. Memories.

david594--I went to RPI too!! I had no idea anyone one else from there was going vet. Are you graduating this semester??
 
Graduated by the skin of my teeth in spring 07 with my degree in computer science. Decided my last semester of college that it just wasnt for me and was going to go the vet route. So I never really embraced any support I might have gotten from RPI in the planning stages. Although career services were decent and helped me land 3 before I stopped interviewing(and then turned them all down).

I'll shoot you a PM, really curious about how the RPI experience worked out for you in prepping for vet school.
 
anyone hear anything from/about tufts or oregon state yet? I am just about peeing my pants with anticipation..

i am currently hoping for the best, preparing for the worst

the only thing i've heard from oregon state was an email on 4/16 asking if i still wanted to be on the OOS alternate list...from their reply to my asking where on the wait list i was, it seems like they've already filled all the spots and only if someone drops out between now and sept will someone get accepted off the waitlist...but that's just speculation

Congratulations wishingnhoping! guess this means you have another tough decision to be making...UPenn or Tufts? I do think I remember you saying tufts was your top choice though, best of luck where ever you decide to go!!!

Susiewaits, maybe they just called OOS today? Who knows! When I e-mailed last week to check for updates they said they tentatively had meetings scheduled for today and early this coming week. Maybe you'll get a call!!! I'm rooting for you. 🙂
 
I am going crazy waiting!!! Some days I am positive and hopeful while other days I am crying and feeling that the call isnt going to happen...:barf: ahh just needed to vent
 
From someone who didn't even get waitlisted, hang in there! It'll be okay. Even if you don't, you can kick butt, take names, and have more options next time if it doesn't happen this time. Which isn't to say that it won't, just that it's not worth smiley-barfing over. 🙂

Didn't get far enough to see if anyone has responded, but no, martha van is still there, and the school is completely renovating it. its very nice inside now, i've heard.

i hope i'm there in the fall too!!! i called on friday and they said they wouldn't know much until next week and that they might not even need to pull from the waitlist! kinda scary🙁 have you heard anymore from the dean?

yes, i'm still interested in lab animal. do you know how long the residency is? is it super competitive?

i'm pretty sure they contact you by phone...at least i hope so. i made sure they have my cell number, work number and an emergency contact. yes, i'm a little obsesed. oh, and i memorized the manhattan area code too!
 
Yeah, I got rejected from most of my schools and put on 3 alternate lists (one of which was UPEI in Canada). However, April 17th I got a call from ISU (Iowa) saying they had a place for me (they had told me previously that I was fourth) and then the following day LSU said they had a space for me! They don't give positions on the alternate lists to people (very nerve boggling). However, I can tell you the situation isn't hopeless. I really liked Iowa, but haven't seen LSU yet...so I am going to Lousiana tomorrow to check the school out. I have to make a decision by Wednesday so I will let you guys know what I decide. Don't give up hope yet - you never know!!!! I almost started getting all my papers ready to reapply in the fall!

As you probably already saw, I just replied to your post, but had no idea you were accepted off wait-lists! Mucho congrats to you! :hardy: Good to hear they're moving down the wait-list for Iowa, although I'm much further down than you are. 😳

I spoke to someone in admissions today that said they havent sent out waitlist notifications yet and probably wont even start until next week. I got the 'you will possibly get called of the waitlist' letter-so I have hopes...
 
Thanks Epidemivet!! That'd be awesome if I WAS on the Western waitlist, but I got the full-on 👎 from them! If (when!) the Tufts waitlist doesn't happen I'm hoping for better things from Western (my unrequited love!), next year. 😳
 
Somehow I thought you were waitlisted - sorry about that! I check SDN sporadically. Well, now I'll just focus all my good luck vibes on Tufts!

So i got a call today from UF. I WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE CLASS OF 2012!!! They are calling alternates today and sending out letters tomorrow!

Those of you waiting for me to post about MN: sorry to get your hopes up! Hopefully that comes this week because I have until 5pm on Friday to tell ISU.

For those of you waiting on ISU- I was #17 on the OOS waitlist.

Eeeee!!! Congrats! So that's RVC and ISU now? Do you know which of the two you'd pick? That's quite the deadline, Friday. My unsolicited 2 cents are that if you haven't heard from MN by tomorrow or Thursday, you should call them and tell them your situation (ISU needs answer by Friday, you're #1 on their waiting list). My guess would be that, even if they hadn't started notifying alternates yet, if they knew they were going to have to notify any alternates, they would bend the rules and tell you ahead of time. In any case, it's certainly worth asking about.

Oh, and just for fun....CONGRATS!!! again. 🙂 You deserve it! 🙂
