thank you so much for your post. i'm definitely leaning towards creighton because i can always go to NY for residency. i know this is a stupid question, but what is GPR/AEGD? =)

Got into Stony Brook, Nova, UPenn (with Dean's scholarship), and NYU. I am leaning towards Stony Brook, so that should free up a scholarship. maybe someone will hear some good news.

GPR = General Practice Residency, usually done in a hospital

AEGD = Advanced Education in General Dentistry, usually done in a dental school

When people talk about doing a residency, they are referring to a GPR or AEGD program.

Both pay you, GPR usually pays a little more but also involves some more commitment to the hospital as well. Pay depends on the city. A GPR in NYC pays approx. between $42,000 and $50,000. An AEGD, expect probably 10 - 15 grand less than that.

Which school are you talking about? All the schools wrote me telling me I was on the alternate list. As for NYU--at the interview, they told me to retake the dats and in the meantime, my file is on hold.... I still have a chance at NYU I guess?
I am very dissapointed...

That was the average incomming class average so that is what they look for. Maybe I was not meant for NYU????

It says that in order for you to confirm your enrollment, it will benecessary for you to forward an initial tuition deposit of $500 by 15th, Jan.. This deposit is non-refundable. A second non-refundabledeposit of $2,000 is due by 1st, May..

Well, I got a letter from Columbia along with some other schools listed on the STATS Page end of page 1.

Remember to update your entry on the STATS Page . The STATS Page thread is going to be a great one-stop shopping resource for future pre-dents since it has stats, applied schools, interviews, AND acceptances. We should all also update them with where we end up enrolling. 😀 😀

Here's my list of acceptances:

UCLA, USC, UOP, Tufts (small merit scholarship), Arizona

Still waiting for UCSF, my app was incomplete (dam those LOR's) so it'll go to the committee the first week of Jan.
For the rest of you still waiting, Barbara told me that they've accepted around 30 from the first round, and the Committee will be meeting back in Jan for the next reviews. The first Committee must review it and pass it to the Executive Committee that makes the final decision. Their offices are going to be closed for the next 2 weeks. So, you won't be hearing for a while.

And ps, I was a Psych Major!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some advice for other pre-dents, a Masters degree and a social conscious will go far in the application process.

I think UCSF is my top choice... Either UCLA or UCSF. I didn't really like UOP. Too small of a campus, I'll go stir crazy there.

I love San Francisco, but I also love warm weather. So, I dunno??

I didn't apply to ucsf cuz everyone I talked to who goes there don't like it there. So I decided that if I do go to school up north, it'll be at uop. Everyone I talked to, including a close friend of mine, really like it there. And the small campus doesn't really bother me much. I think its better. Less walking. I could use the rest after 4 yrs of undergrad at ucla. Hehe. But I still haven't decided between uop and ucla yet.
