That's what we've wondered since getting conflicting information about the waitlist (see earlier posts). I think the best explanation on why there are three tiers is that they are physically separated (that is, each tier is a different stack or in a different filing cabinet, rather than having one large stack with each file labeled accordingly). Candidates from the top tier are first to be considered for acceptances.

Congrats RaaMD. yeah, let us know what you decide. and thanks for posting the tips

Hi everyone! I just withdrew from EVMS yesterday. So one spot has just opened up. Good luck to all of you. It was a hard decision to let go of EVMS.

Whoa! Congratulations! I hope that Drexel is awesome! 👍

So are you a guy from Cali, as I definitely hope? I'm a guy from Cali!!!! :scared:
Maybe I'll be getting a call soon! Did they call you with the news?

Also, I'm really curious, would you mind pasting me a copy of the email you sent Dr. McCombs? By PM is cool.

What's up Subtle1epiphany. The acceptance letter was by snail mail. It was hard to let EVMS go. After May 15th, I got 2 acceptances from the waitlist: EVMS and Georgetown. I actually am debating between Georgetown and Drexel rght now and will have to make a decision soon. Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's wonderful news you've been accepted!

So I've got some "standard" questions to ask you, hope you don't mind:
1. Where were you in the waitlist and for how long before you you accepted?
2. How were you contacted? Email, phone, or by post?
3. Are you male or female, and what state?

Thanks! and best to you at your chosen school.

More people were just admitted today. I won't post their stats, but they were SMP students, so I don't know if they are being admitted slightly differently than the regular applicant pool. But it's good news to hear that there is still movement! Good luck everyone!

EVMS generally issues 3 times as many acceptances as the number of seats they have available. So they generally issue ~300 acceptances. This year, they've interviewed ~550 people. The waitlist, as was mentioned on one of the EVMS threads, is ~270 people long. If we assume everyone gets either an acceptance or is waitlisted post-interview (that is, no immediate rejections post interview), we know that ~280 people received acceptances immediately post-interview.

Top third is ~90 people long. There are only ~20 spots left.

EDIT: 20 is a dismal #. but i'm having trouble finding the thread that indicated there are about 270 people on the waitlist. Anyone remember seeing a # like this? In any case, I haven't heard anyone getting an immediate rejection post-interview (damn that'd feel bad). Anyone know otherwise?

I am the one who posted the 270 number, it may have been in an EVMS thread related to a wailist or a January interview. Or for the revisit weekend.

I got the 270 number when I called the office some time back in March or April.

Also, keep in mind that some of the 270 will withdraw (or have already withdrawn) when they get in somewhere else. I was in the top third (was invited to revisit weekend, and told i was in the "top" of the top third), but I dropped my waitlist last week, so EVERYONE's chances should have gone up 🙂

Good Luck. EVMS was a great school, but I got into school in NY and just can't give up the thought of living in NY.

Here's the link: it was in the preview weekend thread

was it me? 😀

EDIT: Nope, not me! still in the middle third. the lady said there has been very little waitlist movement lately

At least one more accepted this week (from SMP), meaning the list is moving. Keep the faith! Good luck!

anyone not lose hope?

I'm trying not to lose hope, but it's hard. Time is relentless and keeps churning forward, things aren't looking good for us waitlisters. Very little movement, less for in-state I understand, but very little overall. I must say that I get conflicting information from the Admissions Office. One lady even said they had little movement last year 😱, but from what was told by current students, they had half the class come off the list for 2008.
Maybe it's just lots of anxiety and a little paranoia, but what's up with the office? Anyone else have some perspectives? I'm calling tomorrow. Luck to us all.

Sorry, from what everyone says, movement is very slow. 🙁 Good luck still, though!

I'm IN!!!

Got the call this morning from Sue Castora. I am still in disbelief. It didn't hit me until I told my gf and called my family and friends. I am going to be a doctor!

Congrats!!! That's awesome! 👍
Mind posting any info on what you've been doing/sending since being waitlisted or any stats? Feed us...

Then why did they say no movement when I called today at 4.30pm EST?
Something is weird 😕
I'm getting very close to giving up completely on the chance that I'll get in to EVMS, not saying I don't want it, but that I see little chance. What's everyone else's thoughts?

Thanks Subtle. I have really just been showing a lot of interest. I met with Dr. McCombs in early June and just kept in regular contact since then. I picked up the pace in the last few weeks, sending stuff and emailing more often. I called him last week and he said to keep my fingers crossed, though his tone sounded a little more optimistic than when I had spoken to him before. I really can't believe I am saying all this. I am 30 years old and finally getting started with my career in medicine!

Good luck you guys, and keep the faith. They accept students through orientation week, so there is a good 3.5 weeks left to get accepted.
