Just a note about Pitt...I was told they don't give automatic interviews. According to a woman who works in the admissions office, they're just "really on top of things." I agree with Shantster that they do a review of your AMCAS. I think they kind of make a list of people that will probably get interviews based on the AMCAS and then maybe give your secondary a quick look before sending out the email, just to make sure nothing is really odd (this is pure speculation based on what the woman told me).

But it's definitely not just numbers-based, so those of you with lower numbers have a chance!

Secondaries are automatic, but they tend to take a while to send them. The autointerviews might have some "magic number" associated with it, but I think that they review the whole AMCAS before deciding on it.

As you can see, it's a very small list overall. It's still very early, and Pitt usually fills up fast because they seem to have semi-auto invites. Plus, there are very few duplicate names on this list, meaning most of these early people have only one so far.

I had the same problem last year with the early interviews. The list won't be up until sometime the beginning of September since we haven't started yet. I stayed at Shadyside Inn (on the list) and by telling them I was interviewing at PittMed, my room (a two room apartment) was only $75. The shuttle driver didn't come in until 8am, but he came in early to take me to the school. If that's not an option, there's a bunch of buses that run along there because it's on 5th that will take you to the school. You'd just have to climb the hill yourself, which is such a joy. It's also in Shadyside and right be Walnut street so it's a fun place to walk around.

my interview for pitt wasnt an auto invite... i received an email about 3 weeks after submitting my application (although i dont think i ever got an "application complete" email from them)

I'm not sure what the difference is between an "auto-invite" and an early interview invitation. Like what has already been posted, Pritzker has a very fast turnaround time...but I have no clue if my invite was an "auto-invite" or if they've actually already reviewed my entire application.

I was complete at USC on Monday, got the interview invite today. I also bugged the lady who sends out the e-mails a couple weeks ago about a question I had about applying, so she may recognize my name by now...

i have a question and i looked around for the interview question thread but couldnt find it. i see that very few schools have started sending interview invites. does this mean that the rest of the schools have not even started looking at secondaries? or is there a lapse in time between when they decide if they like you and they actually tell you that they like you?

It could be (not necessarily that it is) that the schools that have sent out invites are either auto-inviting based on stats (I think that's the case for some UMich people, and some Pitt people), or they just haven't had a lot of people get complete yet. I mean, for USC, I got the application on Friday, sent out my LORs that day, and mailed in the secondary on Monday. A week later I was complete, and today I got my invite. Total of a week and a half from when they released the secondaries.

The bigger schools either don't have anyone that's complete yet (AECOM doesn't, and won't for a while yet), or have so many applicants that are complete that they're just weeding through them initially, since they don't screen first. There are people that are getting rejections from schools like Wake, and we haven't heard of anyone with an interview from there yet.

Of course, SDN is also just a small portion of the applicant pool, so it's possible invites have gone out, but no one on SDN has received them yet.

Uhh.. I dunno. Maybe they have to look deeper into your application... But it looks like they just started sending them out at the end of last week, so maybe wait another week before you start to worry. And check your spam folder, just in case.

so i've got an interview at indiana coming up.... but can't schedule it yet, just received their secondary a few days ago and that guarantees interview. anyone know how long after secondary they let you schedule your interview? think i should wear my colts jersey?
