I'm wondering the same thing....

To the people who heard back from Temple: was the email from your POI or from the department? Thanks!

Also - I spoke to someone at UPenn and they said they are done the first round of invites, but it's not over yet, so i'm sure other schools have more than one round of invites.

Thank you so much for offering your insight about IUP, I would have never thought to ask about student housing since they didn't offer it, I will check on that tomorrow! I have a question about traveling. How do most students get from the airport to the university? I called cabs and shuttle services and they all charge over a hundred dollars one way. Is it relatively easy to drive in the weather that you have there? (I'm from LA and scared!) If it is I would much rather rent a car.

It is a fair distance from the airport so your best bet is to rent a car. There is a bus that you can take but I have never done it and I've been told it is somewhat complicated -- I don't think it picks you up at the airport and it doesn't run frequently.

If you are driving, make sure you print out directions in advance as you have to go through downtown Pittsburgh (not hard but good to have directions in hand). If you could coordinate sharing a rental car with another invitee that would be even better so that way you could split the costs. The roads are good, the weather -- well, it just depends. But even if the weather is bad, the roads are usually well taken care of. Just allow extra time so that you don't have to drive faster than you are comfortable.

Also, I don't know if the information has been sent to the invitees yet, but the first year class always hosts an informal dinner for the interviewees the night before interviews. It is not sponsored by the department so we all pay for our own dinners but it is a great way to meet current students in an informal and pressure-free setting. Sunday dinners will mostly be at 6 pm (although earlier on 2/1 because of the super bowl) and at 7:30 pm on Thursdays.

Feel free to ask any other questions you may have. 🙂

Hey everyone! I received a phone call from the University of Hartford PsyD program for an interview on 2/6.

I'd also like to PM'd with the name of the Stony Brook POI, either from the person who got the interview or from people who heard from that person. Thanks so much. (I've gotten some other interviews, so can at least be a little less stressed about Stony Brook rejection.)

Hey everyone! I received a phone call from the University of Hartford PsyD program for an interview on 2/6.

Now I'm starting to freak out. Did you by any chance submit your application to Hartford super early? I haven't heard anything and I'm getting worried!

Not sure if anyone else is still waiting to hear from George Mason University. I just looked up some info on their website and it states that they should have all interview invites sent out by today. Just thought I would share in case anyone was interested.

Wondering if I should expect a rejection as I haven't heard anything from GMU? The deadline was a while ago now. Did you hear anything today

I received a telephone invitation to U of Maine today from the DCT.

I was quickly whipped into an emotional high when I saw the Maine area code and forgot everything he told me concerning the interview date. Flashbulb memory at its finest. I think it was at the end of February.

Aw, I wouldn't worry just yet - I just got the call this morning! I've been freaking out as well when others hear from places I've applied. Although I didn't send in my app early, as everyone's been saying invites go out at different times, so its not like they necessarily call/send/email a bunch of people all at once. Hang in there, and good luck! 🙂

Thank you for responding so quickly! I've been such a little worry wart! I suppose I shouldn't expect the office to make sixty or so calls in one day, so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope I get a call soon. Thanks again!

Do you think it is because there may be more rounds of applicants so they don't want to put people off because they be chosen to interview later if the first round does not work?

Could be, I had a friend who got an invite to interview to Yeshiva's clinical program TWO DAYS before she was supposed to be there, and I think it was their alternate day...

Anybody want to coordinate on a rental car or something? Anybody made their flight plans yet? (I'm staying with a grad student.) PM me if you do.

I chose the 2/6 date at 1pm.

I still heard nothing today 🙁 I am thinking that they have all been extended (the first I saw someone had an invite on here was 12/23 i think). Good luck with your other apps!!

I can't....My interview date is Feb. 23rd. I plan on flying in the sunday before so if anyone would like to get together from the airport on that'd be great. BTW smeevil, did you already get confirmation that your staying with a grad student? I requested to room with one but haven't heard anything yet...

Thanks for the information! I'll keep the dinner in mind when I make my flight reservations, I'd love to get to know people in the department.... so what do you feel is the best way to prepare for the interview?

Can the person who was contacted by Harvard PM me with the name of their POI? Congratulations on the invite for phone interview!! 🙂

Hello, can you please also PM me your POI if you don't mind? I've been hesitant to check this thread until now :scared:. Congratulations!

Does anyone know if Temple is done giving out invites?

Does anyone know if Temple is done giving out invites?

in the December 2008 update on their website, the DCT says that he'll update their website to reflect that all of the invites are out. so as long as that website isn't updated... my guess is that there are a few still coming.

never-the-less, my guess is that most are extended

I just got this email (mass email), too bad it wasn't an actual interview invite! Did all other UMB apps get this? PM me if you didn't!

Dear UMass Boston Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program Applicants:

Thank you very much for your interest in the Clinical Program at UMass Boston. We are excited by all the wonderful applications we have been reviewing. We have not yet made final decisions for interviews, but we wanted to alert applicants to our time line for doing so.

We are currently in the process of finishing our review of applications. We will meet as a committee next week to select applicants to invite to our interviews. If you are selected, you can expect a phone call and/or email from a potential mentor shortly after Tuesday, 1/27. Our interview days are Friday, 6 and Feb, 13. Applicants invited for interviews have a full day of interviews with multiple faculty and students.

We thank you all for your interest and look forward to meeting many of you.
Best of luck,

Jean Rhodes and John Perez
Co-Chairs of the Admissions Committee
Alice Carter
Director of Clinical Training

did you see how they did not use a list of undisclosed recipients??? how tacky!!!

I did not get that e-mail!!!! I am freeeeaking out!

edit: i just sent an e-mail probing for info about the admission process, hopefully i was just left off the list accidentally and i will get the e-mail????

I was very surprised to see the list of recipients, although it didn't seem too long...

hmm i wonder if they grouped it into different emails, or if we were all on the same email. you can check your recipients... my email is [email protected]. i was wondering, since there are only like 50 people on the list if that might be a good sign! but if we're not all on the same email, then they probably just sent a few...

my email only had about 30 people on it. so if they are going at that rate - its going to take a while to get them all out

I was wondering the same thing- there were only 50ish people on my list. But you weren't on my list so they must have sent multiple.

Goodness gracious we're obsessive! This is what happens when departments tell us so little about the admissions process- we become crazy obsessed people who read meaning into the most innocuous emails.

Just got a call from DCT for interview, Feb 13th, alternate day Feb 23rd

Yipee!

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case anybody else has this problem. I checked my status on my UNC application and it said my GRE scores hadn't been received. When I contacted the psych department, they told me that they in fact did NOT have them, even though every other school I have applied to has received them. I contacted the graduate school and they located them, then updated the system with an hour. Anyway, that would have been a really silly technicality to get axed on! So make sure you check that UNC has all your info according to their website. Apparently even if you sent something and it's in your file, it doesn't mean that they realize they have them. Fun times!

By the way, has anybody heard anything about UNC in terms of interviews?

Hello! So we got that wonderfully informative message earlier in the week saying that Northwestern (Evanston) was meeting that day, but according to this forum, nobody has heard. Has anybody heard and just not said anything? Or do we have any updates? I was expecting news fairly soon after they met from at least SOMEONE.

Yea, you aren't on my email either. After looking at my email a little closer it looks as though the names may be in alphabetical order.... my email looks like it spans about 4 letters.

By the way, has anybody heard anything about UNC in terms of interviews?

By UNC do you mean Chapel Hill? I'm pretty sure it says on their website (and this was their protocol last year as well) that they extend all interviews on Feb. 1st.

Yes, Chapel Hill. I don't SEE that on their site, but let me know if yo find that. All I see is that their interview date is Feb. 20th.

Got an e-mail saying my application is complete at the illinois institute of technology. I hear the open house is in the first few days March. A friend who interviewed there last year said she was contacted by the end of Jan!!!!

Nice, thanks for the info. I received that same email but didn't want to probe about when they were sending out invites. I'm glad you have an insider who told you when invites went out last year. I think next week is going to be a interesting... since all my schools seem to be extending invites then. Blah. Good Luck!

I was also wondering about that! Also, Duke invites were supposed to go out today - anyone hear from them?

I received an invitation for interview at Widener University's Clinical PsyD program today via snail mail. Hooray! This is one of my top choices!! 😀
