Hi Everyone, I just spoke with my POI and she informed me that decisions will be made this Friday (They don't hold formal interviews). She did not say when they will be notifying applicants. Good luck!

Hey guys,

I just wanted drop a quick note to apologize for having updated the main list in the last couple of days (been extra busy). I will definitely have it updated as soon as I get home tonight!!!!

In the meantime, take deep breaths everyone, we're more than half way through this process. :xf::luck:

What school is this for? University of Illinois-Chicago?

Hello all!

I'm confused with LaSalle University PsyD - it is on the master list of schools that have sent out invites, however, their webpage says that the deadline is February 15th... Is the website wrong? I just assumed it would be right. But if they are already giving out invites....I guess the deadline has passed, right?

I emailed my POI at UIC a few days ago, and she hasn't written me back yet... Either she's waiting to respond until she has a chance to look at my app, or she doesn't want to respond and tell me the bad news! But I've basically decided that I'm not getting in anywhere this year anyway... so I guess it would be exciting to hear good news, and just a conclusion to a long chain of doubt to hear bad news. 😳

I feel the exact same way. Oh well. I know what I have to do to prepare for applications next year 🙂

Maybe I should email my POI at UIC?

Interview invite from Texas Tech Clinical Psych PhD
Phone call from POI on 1/28
Interview on 2/13

POI said all invites should go out today or tomorrow

AlexSuperTramp, I also applied to Carlow & I spoke with them yesterday as they were missing a few materials from me. They let me know they needed it all to them by next week as that is when interview decisions would be made.

Thanks so much. I had a similar issue but they emailed me and I had it taken care of last week..so I wasn't sure when they would be looking to make a decision.

just got an email from University of Delaware saying my application is complete and under review. Did anyone else just get this? I'm hoping this email was sent out to everyone just now, rather than just being sent when our applications are complete (since the online status checker had said mine was complete a few weeks ago).
At least we can keep the hope going for awhile, since they say not to expect anything before mid February...eeeeeeek!

Anyone hear from UFlorida yet?!??! Invites should be going out today or tomorrow, either by phone or by e-mail. I just got back from a meeting that lasted several hours- I had the delusion that there would be a response by the time that I got back, and I could end my misery. Apparently not. So the wait continues.... 🙁

Did they do phone interviews at least? I'm just wondering if I can assume the worst from them if I haven't heard from anyone--just seems so weird (and wonderful!) that one might just get a phone call telling you you are admitted without an interview.

Hey there, I applied to the social program there, not clinical.. but I did receive a very similar email, not just once but 3 times that is. The first one was early Jan, then the next 2 ones came a week later, one day apart. Was the email header something like "Your application is now under review" or something like that? My email also said something about being notified in mid-February.. But i haven't heard anything since. So even though I'm not a clinical applicant, sounds like they are sending these emails out to everyone who applied.

Thanks for the reassurance! I was worried that my application hadn't been complete until now! And yes, it said my application is now under review.
good luck!

I just got the e-mail from Delaware as well.

I just got an e-mail from my POI at UVA requesting a pre-interview phone interview. They are still going out apparently. Super!

Oh, and yes, I would also like to know when U Washington (Seattle) is extending invites!

I've heard from some friends who were graduate students there and are now faculty elsewhere that UW's child clinical is probably not accepting any students this year and adult clinical is accepting very few if any. UW's budget from the state has been hit hard, and the whole university is reeling 🙁

I received the generic interview invite email from GSU on mon night and got a phone call today from my UAlabama POI- brief (surprise!) phone interview culminating in an invite to their interview day (child clinical).

UAlabama had been posted on the list a few weeks ago- I know its hard to not completely give up on places once one person reports an interview- but keep in mind that sometimes individual faculty members call their applicants directly! There's still hope!

University of Florida
Clinical and Health Psychology Department (clinical PhD program)
Invitation via email from department secretary
Interview: Feb 20 and 21

Hello everyone. I've been an observer for a while and have a question. What do you do if you get interview invitations for the same day?

Aww, that sucks. Thanks for telling me!

I am in a similar position... I was upfront with my POIs that I have other commitments as well, and they were all flexible with allowing me to either come on a different day, arrive later to a visit weekend, etc. Just be sure to relate the idea that you're very interested in learning more about their programs in communications with them, and they'll more than likely be understanding.

At any rate, having problems with conflicting interviews is a fortunate problem to have at this point!

Okay so - for georgia state university is that for the main clinical psychology program that everyone is getting responses back from or the joint programs. I appled to the clinical-neuropsychology program. I have tried contacting several people from that school and none of them respond. I'm not sure who people are contacting for GSU. Besides that I am VERY stressed out about not getting anything this year. This is my second year applying 🙁 and my optimism is low because more than HALF of my schools have handed out interviews. I hear this application round is crazy and that some schools are receiving hundreds of applications. Clinical psychology might be too competitive for me. I just want to do research - I don't care much for the practice portion. Anyways - I'm hoping for a miracle and praying.:xf:

Here is my listing of schools and statuses as they stand:

Georgia State: interviews have been given but I don't know to what clinical division
Drexel: pretty much done handing them out.
UMass: already handed interviews out
Emory: done handing interviews out
UHUHS: ? I haven't heard anything
UIUC: they haven't reviewed people yet
George Mason: Already got a rejection letter

and I applied to one cognitive neuroscience program and that should take longer.

If anyone has any insight about these programs please let me know.

Hi. I'm a student in Rutgers PsyD program. I just wanted to post that the dept secretary is still sorting through application files and passing them on to faculty members as they are complete. Also, you probably know there's one interview day -- in early March this year. Not sure if it will be the same for you all, but I got my invite to interview via email.

Good luck to all.

Hello All-
For those of you who went on interviews last year and are applying again this year, what are you going to do differently? In addition to the whole 6 spots for 40 interviewees thing, is there anything you can point to that can account for you not being accepted (e.g. nerves, preparedness)?

Georgia State Clinical has sent out invites for first round. If any of those decline, they may call back ups...

I know the economic situation has changed a lot since August, but I find that strange because in mid-August my POI told me she was planning on taking a graduate student. Direct quote: I am planning on admitting a student this year.

I do know as a current graduate student at Drexel that all invites have not been extended yet. Last year, someone was given an interview less than one week before the first interview date, which this year is Feb 16. There is another later interview date. Don't give up hope yet!

Wow, I am in almost exactly the same predicament as you;i'm mostly interested in NeuroPsych interest and this is my second time around; I'm waiting on UHUHS and GSU Neuropsych. I'm still waiting on LIU, CUNY (Cogntive), Yeshiva....but my optimism is really low too.

Good Luck!

Anyone else hear from Florida?!?! I'm freaking out!
It was an individualized email with personalized letter as an attachment. My last name begins with 'A', so maybe dolling out alphabetically?

Well this sucks- before, the website said interviewees would be notified Feb 1st. Now it says: "2009: UNC will hold its Interview Day on Friday February 20, 2009. All applicants invited for an interview have been notified."

You are HILARIOUS! My friend and I were hoping you'd say that but I didn't have the berries to ask!

Thank you!!!

rejection stings deep every time...

My sentiments exactly. Sigh.

Honestly I feel ridiculous for coming into this whole process thinking I had a decent chance of getting into a program. I think it's finally sunk in that it's slim to none at this point. I will no go indulge in comfort food and bad reality television (they help me see that it could always be worse! haha).

did you mean Umass Boston? They are not done handing out invites yet, I don't think. They were supposed to start yesterday, and finish "shortly thereafter" so probably w/in the next few days after. But the school is closed today due to weather, so nothing today!

ugh i couldn't agree w/ you more! this whole week i've been belaboring the fact that i feel like a total idiot and a failure at that. i'm very disappointed overall. 4 rejections, 4 unknowns. 😎

It really does take a hit on your confidence and self-esteem, doesn't it?

Please, please don't let this process get to you. You've all probably heard my sob story by now but last year I applied to 7 clinical programs, got one interview, and a whole pile of rejection letter via snail mail come April. First off, it's still too early to count yourself out. But it is a ridiculously hard venture, but now that you know what's involved, after you really have received all the official notifications, brush yourself off, take the next few months off from the stress and anxiety and start back up in august or september. You will succeed! Think of it as a challenge!

I got this via email today: "We are pleased to let you know that you have been selected to come in for an interview for admission to the Clinical program at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology on February 5th. You will be here from 10:30 to 12:30, during which you will meet with faculty members, a student and the director of the clinical program. You will also have an opportunity to tour the school and ask whatever questions you may have. "

Not much notice (just a week??)!! (Not that I'm complaining!) How did the person who got their invite before me get a later interview date? Lol.

Unfortunately this conflicts with my IUP interview date, which I already confirmed/made flight/rental car arrangements. I sent Yeshiva an email politely asking if I could interview on another date *crosses fingers*.

Anyone have any info on Catholic University's interview status? I've emailed them and called them twice-- the first time I called, the guy who picked up said he didn't know. The second time, he said he'd connect me to someone who may know and then... he hung up on me! I didn't want to call for a THIRD time as I don't want "stalkerish tendencies" to be added to my application.

Yeah, things with the budget have changed a ton since August. I've heard they've already "laid off" some lecturers this month. Still, it's not written in stone that they're not taking students, just something to be aware of.

In... Nov or so my POI said she may or may not take a student, so I dunno.

Definitely. And keep in mind that this is maybe the most competitive year ever to get in because of a combination of: 1) the economic depression means less money available for the program and fewer slots as a result, 2) there are more applicants due to the slow economy (people trying to ride it out in school) plus historical trends indicating an increase in the number of clinical applicants every year anyway across the board.

So a rejection is normal and by no means a reflection of your ability or your standing relative to the rest of students. - For the most part, only the cream of the crop apply to a PhD program, and you're one of those. Even getting an invite to many places should be considered an achievement. Actually getting in = a combo of luck, fit, and interview ability.

But most all of us are perfectionists, overachievers and not used to failure/rejection EVER in our academic pursuits, much less a whole string of them. So it's going to hurt regardless.

Smeevil, could you please tell me what your last name starts with in case they are doing things alphabetically?
