Thanks. Just can't understand why they are taking more than 2 months to send invitations in a 4 month application cycle. And it is true for many other programs.
 
Is anyone having trouble contacting PC at UAB to schedule interview? I am not getting any reply in email and no one seems to answer the phone that is listed on ERAS.
 
Did anyone else get a rejection from UCSF today that said they were going to keep your application on file? Just trying to decipher what that means...

It means nothing, sorry. If every other interviewee dropped out, maybe they'd still consider you, but that won't happen (they probably also sent this to everyone they rejected).

Just got an email from Temple saying their PD will be reviewing applications this week and will send out invites in 1-2 weeks.
 
Have u tried frida to see if there is another number listed there? I didn't apply to UAB....
 
Things are getting pretty weird... on one hand the interview calls/rejects are drying out, but on other hand there are a whole bunch of programs out there which are yet 'reviewing' applications!

Any news from Lahey clinic (Boston)? or Metrowest (cleveland)?
 
On my last two interivews, I had staff tell me that they felt I was a strong candidate with me and that after my interviews are complete, if I feel their program is a good match, to let them know and they will work something out.

I don't really get this game. Is this something programs frequenty tell all of their applicants (like we tell programs how excited we are about them), or does this sincerely mean there would be a spot for me. Why would I need to tell them in advance instead of just letting the Match do the magic?

Can someone explain this part of the game to me? Thanks!

It's all a game and they tell the same to every one.
 
I agree... its a pure game! They want to make sure their positions are filled up during the match. They do not want to go unmatched. When I was applying for the residency match, I actually got a letter from a PD (from a program in Pittsburgh) saying that he likes me, blah blah blah... and that he would rank me "highly".... well guess what.. I too ranked those *****s at #1 (also because I liked the program), and ultimately I matched in another program 🙂

I figured that was the case. But why would they want me to contact them to let them know if I was still interested.... it seems a little silly.

I recieved UMiami invite on 9/20. I replied the same day that I was not able to interview due to interview overlaps. I recieved a generic email saying they will confirm my interview day this week. I assume, there will be another round of invites after they look at these emails.
 
anyone hear from NYMC, westchester?I got an email from their PC abt a month ago that they would be sending invites in the latter half of Sept.-so was wondering if they are on invitation mode...

Do NOT lose hope!! I just received an invitation from Mt Sinai -FL...Somebody must have cancelled because is pretty short notice (next week). 🙂
 
Second rejection from Wright State University ! They sent me a rejection in early August because I need a visa, but they were generous enough to review my application and send me another rejection. It seems they have a well-organized program out there.

Just curious, How often people write thank you letters and how often you get response to them and does it mean anything?
For me, I write thank you emails to all interviewers and rarely get a response.

the program directors have always written me back. the others replied to me about 60-70% of the time.

I think the thank you notes are program specific. When I was at Columbia, the PD said thank you notes and second visit etc. plays no role. At other interviews some PDs told us if they dont here back they wont rank us.
