Official 2014-2015 Pulm/CCM Fellowship Application Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well, Temple and TJ not on the list yet, UC Davis, Loma Linda. Cedars Sinai ate our money. Programs are still probably sending out invites in waves I guess, at least some. Anyone receive an invite yet from WUSTL?

Anyone heard back from university of Iowa, or Dartmouth? or Wisconsin Madison?

What is the reputation of Rutgers NJMS program? and New Jersey programs in general?

thanks

I haven't heard good things to be honest. Though nothing I can substantiate. Take this statement with as much salt as you need from an anonymous Internet forum. The only way to judge for yourself is to go there and interview.

I like our group. Let's be better than last few years threads and post reviews after our interviews.
The fear - I think - is that somehow someone from the program you were at will figure out that you, John Smith, were at their place interviewing from your anonymous user name and then wrote the review.

Listen, I get it. I have that fear too, deep down. But I'm pretty f*cking sure that no one is going to know who firsttima is...😏

So here's my suggestion. Help us all out, write up a couple of your reviews on Word after your interviews and save them. Then unleash them after a few days/weeks whatever makes you comfortable. Increasing anonymity to the max. And confusing those detective program directors.

If not to help us (maybe we aren't interviewing at those places) but to help next year's crop. Because, I mean, that's what this forum is all about...

Specific things that will help are things not found on that program's website.

Also...what questions are we all being asked? Just to get some practice in, you know?

K, that's my psa...

I WILL post anonymously any and all interview reviews that are sent to my PM box. I am also NOT faculty at any pulmonary and crit programs.

So My final letter was uploaded on Friday last week. I'm still waiting on interviews from Temple and UPMC which don't seem to have sent out invites yet.

Of the people who have sent invites my other pending interviews are UPenn, Columbia and MGH. Should I let these programs know that my application is complete? Does it matter or do they send interviews regardless of letters or would it sway them to offer one based off this last letter? I just want them to either offer me an interview or reject me so I can be done with the waiting and I doubt these programs send a second wave of interviews because they are so competitive.

I thought UPitt/penn/mgh/columbia had already sent put invites if that's the UPMC you're referring to..

I didn't see Pitt on the last few lists but that dosen't mean it didn't happen and the list just wasn't updated.

I'm aware that Penn, MGH and Columbia sent their stuff already my question was more do we know if they send a second round of interviews and if so would it help if I sent an email letting them know that my last letter of recommendation was in. I applied to them as reaches and didn't expect to get in even if I interviewed, if I don't get in there are still lots of programs I'm interested in. I also didn't expect the Brigham interview which I did get so if I'm competitive to get an interview I just want to make sure they are aware that the file is done while/if they still have interviews to give.

Realistically I'm assuming they won't send out any other interviews because they are so competitive and will probably match high on their list.

I'm not getting rejections what might be the reason guys ?
thx

That's the same question I had! I only had less than 10% of the program I applied to sending rejections but about half of them show up in the list of programs that sent interview. I am not sure what that means.

It means they don't want to reject you at this time but will keep the application active/waiting list etc for possible interview later.
Some programs simply don't send out rejection emails or some programs send out all at the end of the cycle.

Tulane rejection.
So far 2 IV and 2 rejections.

Does this season feel very slow this year. I was jsut checking the forum and by this time last year, it was very active ?

I think more people applying to Pulm/CCM this year and this forum is not inclusive of everybody.

I agree. There are people who gets rejections/IVs and not use this forum at all or check sdn but not adding to the list actively.

That's amazing, thanks for taking the time!

I heard SIU (Pulmonary only) has not even reviewed applications. And UCSF(Fresno) will not send invitations till end of August.

Brown is on the IV list.

And also thanks for the list. That must have taken quite a bit if time.

Any thoughts on University of Wisconsin? Where do they rank against other state university programs?

So... of the few interviews I have my itinerary for....I'm interviewing with like 4-6 people. IMO, that is a LOT of people, and I'm sort of freaking out wondering what they're all going to ask me. I mean I think I know my basics but I can't rattle out every trial in the business off the top of my head.
Current fellows/others....any idea what these interviews are mostly like?

Don't stress about it. I went to one one university program with 4 interviewers the other day. It was pretty relaxed and no pimping whatsoever. The interviews are probably only 30 min each right? 15 min will be the interviewer making a pitch about the program and 15 min will be about you, your research/goals and your hobbies.

Thanks snakebite, that's reassuring! Yeah, they're all 25-30 min. One place has allotted 1 hour for a tour of the place. I remember my residency interviews, and remember that by interview #3, I was like 'not that darned tour again! just let me go catch my flight back home.'

Hey Leo brilliant job of putting together the list of places we haven't yet heard from.
A small change from my end... Univ South Alabama sent out invites a few weeks ago... I had added it to the list...

Hi guys. I was talking to the program co-ordinator of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Program and she says that the PD is still reviewing the applications and no interview invites have been sent out. I see that in the list of interviews. Huh? Is there anyone here who actually has an interview or is it just a hearsay?

I actually had an invitation from them
+ another invitation from SLU

Mostly people want to see if your career goals match up with the program and you are not a weirdo.

Lurker here.

Wanted to update the list with the following invites:

WashU St. Louis - 7/22
Univ of Kansas - 7/31

It's already on the list from earlier this week, but I have a friend who got an invite from Stanford today.
