Official 2015-2016: Oh no, I don't have a single Interview Invite thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Guys.. I cannot believe I am saying this but I was just accepted to medical school this morning (as I was writing the school an update letter)!!!

Want to cry right now but currently at work so I'm trying to keep it together
CONGRATS!!!!!

congrats!! were you ever on hold there??

Nope I do not believe so! They had a million dates to choose from from 3/14-4/20 so it looks like they still need to interview a lot of people

I sure hope so banana. just finished crying for a good 15 mins wondering am I that incapable of becoming a doctor. Am I that worthless that an adcom doesn't even want me/ relate to my story. A change is what I need.
You're not remotely worthless, and I know this firsthand because you have helped me survive this process more than I can say. It's a random numbers game. I think you need to take a step back and think about how you can best improve your application. That might mean retaking the MCAT, getting more clinical experience, whatever is most relevant to your cause. The waiting is truly awful, I know. But you've shown so much determination that I just simply don't foresee a future where you aren't a doctor. I can't imagine it.

thank you for those kind words banana, thank you. it means so much.

Ugh, they're rejecting too? 🙁 actually had a dream I got an II from there last night.. Checked my portal.. Nothing lol

if it doesn't say correspondence sent, then you're fine and may be getting an interview! if it says that, then you probably are getting a letter (literally what just happened to me)

Still says under review.. I tend to get rejections later for some reason so I get my hopes up and then get rejected.. Probably will happen with temple too

I do too (that's what happened with me for Tufts and Brown). I remember the same happening to you, but since I already got rejected, I am hoping my earlier rejection means an interview invite for you from Temple!

Thank you, I hope so too!! Though if not, I'm okay with it, trying not to let anything bum me out anymore 🙂

Dreams have been the worst part about the cycle haha. At least once a week I'll dream of an II/acceptance and I'll have to spend the first few minutes of the day in bitter disappointment.

Today I feel like I am losing my mind over med school. Damn it. This had made me into a person I never wanted to be.
I understand...I have anxiety, get sad, angry, paranoid of email and mail, disappointed and anti-social. I need to be more hopeful and think positively but some days....

I was rejected. Good Luck!!

Don't worry, last year I didn't get interviews for any schools - albeit they were all top 30 schools. This year, I've applied broadly and received acceptances at a couple of good schools. I'm a ORM, CA resident, MCAT 4x times (34, 32, 31, 34), weak LOR from science professors, a little awkward at interviews! It's a matter of trying again next cycle (if you don't get in this cycle) and staying positive!

...why did you retake a 34?

Got my third waitlist this morning. What a way to wake up. So unless UIC comes through with a miracle of miracles, I'll probably spend the next few months praying to get off a waitlist and preparing for 2016.

Waitlists can see PLENTY of movement. Stay positive, you are still in a great position, my fishy friend!

Rosalind Franklin? Don't worry, one more week until we might hear from UIC!

I would kill to switch spots with you! But, listen, Stay positive. I have a good feeling that you are definitely getting an acceptance this cycle. I have literally known people who do not get an acceptance until June 1st. I also know people who remain on the waitlist till August, and get in in August, and literally start school the following week. At the end of the day a wait list is ten times better than a rejection, so chin up, and keep up the positive hope! I know you are going to make it and be proud of yourself, seriously. Three waitlists all while in undergrad. That's an accomplishment. Many just get rejections.

Do you think there's still hope for UIC?

I do! There have been people on the thread who were at 'Decision Pending' for months and still got accepted! As long as we haven't been rejected, there's hope!
But that's irrelevant for me because I'm pretty sure I just committed to Cincinnati by accidentally signing a lease that doesn't allow for early termination. Oops. Hahah oh well, University of Cincinnati Class of 2020!

This is my third application. I've applied broadly, I'm an ORM, NY resident, took the mcat three times, my LORs are strong as are my ECs and my essay, at this point, the only thing I can redo is prepare for next cycle by retaking the MCAT. I really thought though that one school would have connected with me by now. With the six I have left (including Drexel pre II hold and Wisconsin whose cycle in ending basically in 2 weeks) I will remain positive as I can be and just hope, pray, do a pre-interview dance for an interview, etc etc, that I get an interview!

Do you have an MDapps? I'm kind of curious what your application looks like.

no but I can PM you my stats and ECS and all that stuff if you want? (disclaimer I had no idea what MDapps was until recently!)

Only if you want to! 😛 I'm just curious why you haven't been successful, it seems like you should have been. Have you ever gotten an interview in any of your past cycles?

The waitlists really, truly, profoundly blow but I'm trying to be positive about it. Three months ago, before I had any interviews, I would've performed an appendectomy on myself in order to be on three waitlists. I know that a lot of people would kill to be in my position even if it's not the best possible situation.

Im planning to retake the MCAT. We can be retake buddies! Haha. That's really the only thing I can think of that's wrong with my app so I'm hoping a retake gets me more II love

MCAT retake is probably a good idea for you. Score a few points higher and I'm sure you will be golden for next cycle (if this cycle doesn't work out, but I still have my fingers crossed for you). Rewriting the MCAT is a relatively "easy" fix, just make sure you put in the time, and if you are able, take a prep course. I would give almost anything to have your stats, chin up and make it happen 🙂

Ok..and thank you!! Waitlisted Georgetown, EVMS, waiting on Wake and have an interview at Albany...its so late.

Hey that's 4 total. I like your chances. I'm going to EVMS this month. How was your interview?

Thanks! I'm taking a prep course, figured I'd do whatever it takes to do it one last time and get a better score 🙂
