I realized no one made a thread for 2015 so decided to make one. Anyone take the January 6 or 22 test? There's a Feb date coming up soon too. How was it? What did you use to study and would recommend to future test-takers? Anything particularly high-yield? Good luck everyone!

Attached are screenshots of my performance reports for comparison. It certainly looks like I did much better on the comlex than the usmle. I don't know how the scores match up to each other, but I did feel better about my performance coming out of the usmle. Usmle was 200, comlex was 491.
DISCLAIMER: As far as I know, it's not illegal to post up these score reports, but please tell me if it is and I'll take them down ASAP.
COMLEX

You did well-above borderline in most areas on the COMLEX. Nothing to be ashamed of there, man EDIT: or lady.

And to put my question another way, I was wondering if this is in fact a different exam with more difficult questions and a different style. Or is it just scored differently. These are two different things. If it's a different exam style and difficulty that's a whole new can of worms. Scoring it differently just means they are adjusting the mean back toward 500 which seems reasonable.

Either way, I can't imagine any of us will be damaged by a change unless you are right around a 400. Fingers crossed ya'll!
As far as I've heard it seems that everyone has gotten a new exam this year..

Edit: I know for certain the omm questions are new because a professor at my school wrote some of them. I believe when my classmate talked to him about the exam he said that it was expected people would do worse this year and that would result in a good amount of questions being thrown out

Reading last year's comlex2 thread debacle, I can't imagine NBOME would screw things up that badly again. They don't release scores until the end of a testing period for that reason, so they can adjust the scores relative to everyone in that few weeks cohort. Oh well, cheers folks, we're done until level 2 next year

How would we know? I have never seen another exam to compare mine to. I can only vaguely describe what my questions were like and only compare that to vague descriptions of what a few standout questions were like for friends. We literally have no way of knowing what another person's exam really contained.

See my edit to my last post. I am 99% certain that professor confirmed it was a new exam, with longer question stems, just like what happened to the people who took comlex 2 last year ..

So I jumped into the middle of the linked thread to COMLEX 2 2014 and I thought those people were talking about their level 2 exam was rescored and their score dropped. They are complaining that their Level 2 score is lower than their Level 1 and COMSAE scores, right? It sounds like NBOME recalibrated their standardized scoring system but at no point did they release a score to a test taker and then re-scored it, dropping their score, right?

I'm confused.

Every three years NBOME revamps the COMLEX, our year this year happened to fall on the new tests. Score averages should drop some, and then go back up each year until another change happens 3 years from now.

Last year, level 2 was re-standardized. It wasn't a different test (because they're all different, as is evident by many of us having drastically different tested material). It was basically a recalibration to bring the average back down since it creeps up each year. They just did a crappy job of it last year and MANY people who were shooting 600's and 700's on practice tests ended up in the 500's. Obviously something went wrong. Those closer to the average were least affected. Many asked for a rescore, which probably helped them identify the problem, eventually leading to the correction.

Now in our case, I haven't seen many people scoring below their COMSAE scores. It seems so far to be that COMSAEs weren't such awful predictors for everyone. I don't expect that any changes will be made.

lets do it!
It seems like enough people complained to the NBOME that they realized they were jerks and rescored the exams. So, if your score lowered from your last comsae then feel free to call up the NBOME and complain about the new scoring system. But probably best to ask your classmates who have also gotten their scores back how they did in comparison to how comsaes predicted their scores (people normally go up ~26 points from their last comsae). And if it seems like a lot of people went down then talk to your student gov't officials about it and have them contact NBOME (that's what they did last year and it worked, so..)

I think that the comlex in previous years WAS like the comsae and that's why people used it as a predictor. From previous threads on sdn and from talking to people the year ahead of me, it seems that everyone went up, some by 100 points, on their comlex from their comsae. It does seem they changed things on the exam from last year, between people on here hearing it from staff and just personal experiences. Everyone said that they had plenty of time to finish the exam in the past. I'm always in the top 1/4 done during school exams, and I ran out of time on my comlex. So I just think that they both changed the exam format and also recalibrated the scores. I'm not looking for excuses or anything, I just know people who have scores almost 100 below what was projected.

Scored higher (~70 pts) on my COMLEX than my COMSAE, but I tend to agree with this. My last COMSAE was like 3 weeks before my exam and I was really hoping to have at least a 100 point improvement. In my mind, I attribute my very average score to running out of time on the test. I am one of the ones that had the more difficult test, which I don't mind because difficult questions are curved, but what bothers me was that they didn't factor in question stem length to this. I didn't have time to take a single break, had to guess on the last ~20 questions before lunch, and had to finish my last 50 question block in 30 minutes. Never had a problem with timing on my COMSAEs. Changing question difficulty remains constant across everyone taking the exam, but when question stem length changes we are no longer being tested on the same playing field.

My comsae and NBME scores are in previous posts on this thread. I scored 240's on the usmle and didnt break 600 when my avg was well above 600 and the highest was 650ish. I wasnt upset with my lower score just surprised especially after outscoring all NBME's on the the USMLE. I wrote a very polite email to the NBOME asking essentially what gives with this year. Was it a new test / scoring system or what and I hope I get an answer back because Id like to break 600 just because of the work I put in. If not whatever Im more than pleased with my usmle and its a push on the comlex. I was one of those with the wtf test and the OMM was insane on my exam. and I was concerned about passing post exam so again not crying just concerned.

Anyone have an idea when they'll release the next round of test scores? I'd like to start day drinking in celebration instead of day drinking out of anxiety.

Keep us filled in on this email, I may do the same depending on my USMLE score (should get it this week).

I was told by NBOME that my score (taken 6/17) should be up between 7/14-7/16 this week.

Is there a usual time when scores get released? Or are there any e-mails sent out prior to release?

I think early afternoon? 3/3:30? Someone else please correct me if I'm wrong. My friend who just got her score last week said she did receive an email that her score was released, but I don't have any more 'tails. Maybe she got an email from the school? Someone else should talk now.

I got an email at 12:56pm central time on Thursday saying my score was available. Just a heads up.

This day drinking idea is the smartest thing I've seen on here in awhile. I heard our scores may come out today...

A little birdie told me that the scores were going to be released in two batches. The early batch was released last week and the 2nd batch (up to the 26th) should be today or tomorrow.
:O maybe not knowing until next week would be better...considering I remember missing at least 10 questions after going back through FA. sigh

6/17-ers, are we ready for our scores today? Or tomorrow? Or the next day? Cuz it's happening whether we like it or not.

I've already started drinking so you know I'm ready.

Maybe the next few days will be for your exam date +- a few other test days. I was a week later... 🙁

You should be getting your results same time as us! Every exam up to the 26th will be out today or tomorrow.

So nobody with a 6/17 date got their scores today? Also what does the e-mail you get say? Just that scores are online or that you passed?

It just says that your score has been released. You won't know your score/if you passed until you check the nbome website.

The school gets our scores before us?

This is what I've heard from a friend who heard it from a gunner who heard it from someone at NBOME. I hope it's true.

NO SCORE YET. My liver can't take this for much longer. Side note: I'm running out of beer.

When you get your score email, login to NBOME, does it just say you passed or something? Then you go to the score tab (while having severe tachycardia) to see your score?

Took the exam today... Good lord in heaven, what a random test?!?! So many questions where I just had no idea what they wanted me to be thinking. Swear I knew ribs and treatments, you treat top rib first if restricted to inhalation yes? So many questions where the answers just weren't even in the choices... Other questions I felt as though multiple answers could have worked e.g. ask about the "cause" of a patients symptoms and yet more than one choice would make sense but they wanted it based on their subjective idea of the right answer.

Did anyone else feel like they totally guessed 50/50 on a ton of questions? Feel like I could have barely passed or did better, I have no idea... At least I hope I passed

Lol, I had the most absolute random micro question with literally no bugs listed I had ever even seen before (studied FA 2x, picmonic, Lippincott microcards, pathoma, Kaplan q bank, UWORLD 1.5 x through)

I also felt like their descriptions of lesions were pure crap, almost everything was just like "ya red lesion, oh ya and its like warm and boggy and stuff and located in X organ." Not all lesions they listed are just red, there are other colors and shapes and ways to describe a lesion besides erythematous ffs!!!
