Can someone fill me in on what it means when your permit disappears? One person said it means you will get your score this week... and another told me it means you passed, so you don't need the permit anymore.

Those who took the test after may 7 are the Ones who will receive the results un july.

I just looked at the email we got and it says those who take the exam "the week of May 7th" may experience a delay in score reporting, so I think that might include May 7th.

interesting...because my permit is gone and i took it on the 7th. who knows, tomorrow will answer all questions.

how many questions do you feel you got wrong??

I really dont know, I have at least 35 for sure maybe closer to 75 in reality. my hope is they dont dump all the experimentals and only drop outliers, because there were some out-there questions I got right that i think were experimental.

link to print permit disappeared...they appear as little bluish rectangles in one of the black boxes on the home screen i think. i checked on saturday and they were there, but not today.

mine did the same thing actually but i took mine May 10th so i'm confused because I really thought we weren't going to get ours till July 11th

I think you have to pay if you want to take it at the Prometric center...obviously it's free off of the website if you're taking at home.

Ahh I didn't know this... I'd probably take it at the prometric center if I could.

"Being on the other side' so to speak is not nearly as relaxing as I thought; the wait is killing me ugggggggh

Does anyone know how long ago nbme 18 was released? Just took this today as my last practice test prior to the real deal next week and then realized how stressful 1-2 months of waiting could be after taking a test with questions like that.

Anyone know if an electronic copy of your testing permit is acceptable? Totally forgot I scheduled my Prometric practice test for tomorrow, and don't currently have access to a printer.

Edit: NVM, just saw that the email says smartphones are fine.

So my test is next Friday. I'm thinking of doing 3 more tests - one tomorrow, one Saturday and one Tuesday. I have NBME 18, 19 and UWSA 2 left. Since UWSA2 has full explanations and all, I don't want to leave it for next Tuesday, so that I have enough time for review. What order would you guys recommend? Or does it not really matter? I'm nervous to take 18 so I figured I'd rather take it tomorrow and take the easier NBME 19 next Tuesday and not worry so much if the curve tanks my score a bit. Thoughts?

Does uworld just get progressively harder towards the end... my current block had questions where 50% got it right.. all 40 were the same level of difficulty.

it's all over the place tbh, i'd get a string of 75+ blocks and out of nowhere id drop back-to-back 50% blocks even towards the end of my UW study. vast majority of 40Q blocks are about 62-67% level difficulty tho (meaning the reported average is in that range) no matter what stage you are at.

Huh, that’s interesting. I’ve yet to have any blocks where the avg is below 60 or above 70 (3/4 through UW).

Although I have noticed that there seems to be themes in what questions they’re asking. Like recently I’ve gotten 1-2 questions per block regarding incontinence.

Uworld qbank first pass: 81% (untimed tutor mode, random)
Real deal step 1: 261 (may 4th)
Side note:
I scored a 28 on the ACT and a 507 on the MCAT
The Step 1 is a different exam, it is not passage based and excellent reading comprehension and vocabulary will not carry your score
You have to know your content and be able to reason scientifically. I have always underperformed on standardized exams due to classical literature passages, etc. but the medical licensing exam is about the science and medicine and if you study smart and early, you can crush this test.
I got 509 on MCAT, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to score 261 on step 1. My problem is that I didn't start studying early enough. Some of our classmates started doing FA and Pathoma during MS1 summer, while my school was telling us to just relax and enjoy the summer. Should have listened to others telling me to start studying early and not to school. Finally school told us to start studying around February lol. By that time majority of students in my class had mastered FA several times and read Pathoma at least twice, did about 2k questions. While I was just trying to start studying. smh

Lol I can say with decent certainty that the majority of your class had not done 2000 practice questions by February of M2. Thats like, an entire Q bank.

I think you may be thinking of those 5 annoying people in every class who sit in lecture doing practice questions during M1 and never shut up about how many Anki cards they did yesterday.

PS I have done both of these things on occasion, and am not proud of it

Hey guys, so I'm incredibly visual and have been using sketchy path (with pathoma) all semester. My test date is in 3 weeks. I was wondering if anyone on here who used sketchy path religiously took step already and if so did you find success?

It makes me nervous because I feel like hardly anyone else out there uses it, but I found it really helpful on uworld (1st pass-66%, 2nd pass-88% so far). Let me know! Thanks 🙂

(also my goal score is a 225+, so whatever thats worth, I consider that successful for me so if you got that with sketchy path that'll make me happy haha)

Just took the Prometric practice exam, scored an 87%. Not really sure what that means exactly. It's significantly lower than any of my practice NBMEs, but I guess what can I do at this point.

It was harder compared to any NBME or UWSA. For what its worth I scored 92% and completely freaked out that day

Haha it's interesting because it felt a slightly easier than 17 and 18 to me but I did way worse in terms of % correct. I don't even know if I should be freaking out or not.

The free 120 had significantly longer vignettes than any NBME (even the recent ones). It probably reflects recent exam trends more than the CBSSA's. Not sure how you felt they were even remotely similar?

I don't think I said they were similar?

Some questions and answers were weird. But I’d admit I didn’t do them in a good mental state and just chugged through them in 1:30 hr. Don’t stress much, believe in your prep. Go make that test your bitch

Yeah I definitely did not eat enough beforehand, I was painfully hungry the whole time so now I know to eat a full breakfast on test day haha.

Anyways thanks for the encouragement! I figure there's no point in getting stressed out about it at this point, not much I can change in two days!

I thought you saying they were easier implied some sort of comparison...

😀

I wasn't commenting on the question style. I meant that the practice felt easier in the sense that I felt confident in my answer for a good portion of the questions, whereas on NBME 17/18, I felt confident with very few of my answers.

How did you feel about the test itself?

Alternated between thinking I got a 12 and thinking I got a 250.

Exam itself I thought was weird. I’ll copy what I posted on my class groupme:

Unsolicited thoughts on step one… Feel free not to read this. I definitely think the test was harder than the practice exams. A lot more fourth-order questions. I personally had almost no bio chemistry. I thought that the embryology was rudimentary which just goes to show how different people's exams are. My recommendation is to prepare for more thought (4th order) for the questions then the practice exams (less gimme questions). I would also expect less time at the end to go over questions, that was one of my biggest issues. Overall there are a decent number of questions on the test that you simply can't prepare for and all you can really do is prepare yourself to be a good guesser on those questions and not to feel bad when they come up. I had to actively tell myself that there wasn't really a resource where I could've learned XY and Z questions so that made me feel a lot better during the test. That being said, I think we are prepared very well. Best of luck to you all!

Yeah.. that’s how I felt. A lot of wtf is this? Questions and very different vignettes and setups than from NBME or UWorld imo.

Went in feeling ready to get it over with knowing I had prepped and was then recognizing almost all concepts in vignettes in UWorld during my second go through. And then as I got my first block... I freaked out and then again on the second block, because you get a long vignette and understand what’s going on and then they would ask something I could not even piece together were related or things I never thought about with a certain scenario before as I did in UWorld or other question banks. Ended up guessing on a LOT of questions without being able to narrow it down to two or even three sometimes like I usually did.

I can’t even do the thing people do with going over questions to see if they guessed correctly because the questions on My beast were so vague that I can’t even remember them to look up a topic.

VERY little biochem. Detailed anatomy.

So now I sit here and hate everything and question my life. Hahaha. Oh Step, how you have made everything suck.

Plus I couldn’t afford to spend money on all of the practices and only did UW1 earlier than I should have so I really have no idea what’s going to happen. Haha.

VERY little biochem. Detailed anatomy (example: fractured ischial tuberosity reconstructed CT image with question asking which leg function and muscle is messed up) which would have been easier if I had reviewed more than what’s in FA.

thank you for your post!! Did you feel like the exam was similar to UWSA and uworld?

Haha crap now I’m gonna hope mine also shows up on 14/6 even tho I took mine on 22/5.

Yeah this could mean that I get my score in the middle of watching a Broadway play that I've been waiting to see for years. I'll be damned if I let step ruin that experience for me haha.

Looking back, do you guys suggest maybe then to do more questions than just sheer memorization of FA?
