As 2018 approaches and people are starting to rev up for their CK studying I figured I would start the 2018 Step 2 CK Experiences and Scores Thread.

As always please follow all of the forum / NBME / USMLE etc.. rules and regulations when posting.

My dedicated starts tomorrow, have about 6 weeks to study over the holidays. Hoping for a 250 +, scored a 26x on step 1.

Good luck to everyone taking the exam in 2018!

First time poster here. US IMG
Step1: 218
UWSA1: 241 3 weeks out
NBME 6: 190..2 weeks out. dont know what happened..
Free 120: 83%

UW 1st pass: random 60%.. still 20% to go...

Taking nbme 8 tomorrow..
My test is on Sept 24..
Hopefully ill get a good score to boost up my confidence for UWSA2

Any thoughts/advice???
Don't worry about your NBME 6 score..

FWIW,
Step 1 was also 218.
NBME 6 was 194
1 week later I got a UWSA1 of 222..
2 months later UWSA2 of 244..
Didn't take anymore NBMEs after NBME 6 because of the poor score prediction. Use them as more of a practice bank in my opinion. Also, if you're not planning on going through the match this year, why not push back until you can get a really solid score? If your NBME 8 is like a 250 or higher then by all means go for it. But as an IMG with a 218 step 1, you are at a disadvantage.

Thanks for your comments. Yeah you make a great point. I guess i just want to get these tests. But thats what im gonna do. I will push back my test if I need to. Hoping to match into IM in Miami. So im at a disadvantage like you said.

Took NBME 8 today: 232 (1.5 weeks out)
As I said before uwsa1(241) and nbme6 (190)

Hoping to get 240+... exam in 10 days.. am I on the right track???

Has Anyone who is expecting their step 2ck result this Wednesday, sep 19th, noticed their scheduling permit disappear/been able to sign up for step 3?

I took mine on a August 28th/my permit has not disappeared/I have not been able to signup for step 3

Also took exam August 28 and permit is still there. I really hope the scores do come back this week!

Here goes:

US MD, gave myself 4 weeks off to study (which included several fun, study-free weekend trips)
Step 1: ~210
NBME 6 (4 wks) - 220
NBME 7 (3 wks) - 208
USWA1 (2 wks) - 242
USWA2 (1 wk) 237
Step 2CK: 237

I know it's lower than most scores ITT, but honestly I am so thrilled. I'm going into FM, so not crazy competitive. But because of my below average Step 1 score and pre-clinical grades, I was hoping for a significantly stronger showing (230+) on CK in time to submit my apps - wanted to be a touch more desirable for a few more competitive programs I'm interested in. And I definitely achieved that! I have always struggled with my study skills and worked my butt off throughout M3 and my "dedicated time" to become more efficient and effective at studying. I'm really proud that I was able to step it up.

Here's what I did:
During rotations: OME + a clerkship specific text (e.g. Case Files) + NBME practice exams + UWorld. Made hand-written note sheets on important topics, as well as Anki cards from incorrect NBME and UWorld questions and reviewed those throughout the year.
During "dedicated" time: Practice tests listed above, plus finished up any OME and UWorld I hadn't gotten done during the school year. I didn't have time to finish all the questions on UWorld (think I had 100-200 left). Reviewed trouble areas with OME + my note sheets.

Thanks to everyone who gave advice and support in this thread and good luck with your residency applications 🙂

You are #goals! Congrats! Mind if I pm you???

Also took exam August 28 and permit is still there. I really hope the scores do come back this week!

Permit disappeared this morning. Test date 8/28.

Good luck with score, best wishes. My Exam was on 29, permit link still there with message saying candidate may have sat for exam. Will score not come this week as well? Your print permit link isn't there at all?

Thanks for the good wishes!

Yes, my permit link is completely gone. From what I've been seeing on this form, I think it's possible that your score will come back next Wednesday; I've noticed that when people take the exam from Wed-Fri, the week after the exam does not seem to count as the first of the three Wednesdays.

But I could be wrong!

Thankyou, is their any possibility link might dissapear monday night as well..hope you will get your desired score!

Also, if the result is supposed to come on Wednesday, doesn't matter if it's pass or fail, link will dissapear? Just thinking of probability if it means anything since mine didn't go and if it meant I failed, scared!

Looking over past SDN posts, I've seen cases where people's links disappeared on the Monday night of the week when the score returned, so anything is possible!

The link disappears even if someone failed, so the link disappearing only indicates that the score will be coming that Wednesday. So don't worry too much! (I know it's easier said than done. I'm scared, too.)

When does signing up for step 3 work to know if you have passed CK? Took mine on the 31st and wanted to see when I can login to help determine if I passed CK.

I was able to start my step 3 application this morning! I’m guessing this means I passed the exam! I’m hoping for a very good score by God’s grace!!!

Took my exam 8/28/18

Just logged in and it’s allowing me to register!!!! Man, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that means I passed! If I did, it was definitely by the good grace of god because that test was definitely evil by all accounts. Lol

Can you tell me the procedure what to do exactly if u don't mind, I am expecting score tmrw as well.

As Karl R. Popped said A rationalist is simply someone for whom it is more important to learn than to be proved right; someone who is willing to learn from others - not by simply taking over another's opinions, but by gladly allowing others to criticize his ideas and by gladly criticizing the ideas of others

Of course. First, I have to point out that you must have taken Step 1 Step 2 CS. If you are waiting for your CK score, you can create an account on the Federation of State Medical Boards website My FSMB - Home. You will then login to website and see if you have the ability to register for Step 3. If you don't have the ability to register for step 3, which will be denoted in bold red letters, that can mean several things (such as your score may not be reported, possible failure, not ECFMG certified, etc). Here are the requirements:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Pass USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS; and
  • Possess an MD, DO or equivalent degree (for recent graduates, apply only after the date of graduation on your diploma; otherwise your application will be cancelled and a portion of your fees will be forfeited); and
  • If a graduate of a medical school outside of the US or Canada, obtain ECFMG certification (apply only after the issue date on your ECFMG certificate; otherwise your application will be cancelled and a portion of your fees will be forfeited); and
  • All examinees are limited to six (6) total attempts; and
  • All examinees are limited to three attempts within a 12-month period; and
  • 4th and subsequent attempts must be at least 12 months after your first attempt and at least six months after your most recent attempt

Thankyou. Yes, this is my last exam..finished Step 1 & CS.I created account and it is letting me fill up all the columns like eligibility period, personal information, education, licensure. I also see exam fee amount due of 875$. Didn't want to go further. Is it how its supposed to be and means a pass?

Thankyou for being very kind enough to write up in detail!

From my understanding, and everything I have read so far, it should indicate you passed if you were able to get to that step. Congrats!!
No problem, glad I was able to help.

Step 1: 261
Level 1: 669

- 13d UWSA1: 120/160 530, 251
- 10d UWSA2: 127/160 560, 258
- 8d NBME6: 169/184 590, 256
- 6d UW first pass 72.6%
- 5d NBME7: 156/184 520, 243
- 3d NBME8: 174/184 700, 277

Step 2: 259
Level 2: 793

Maybe only some of the 8/31 test takers will get their results back which is why they can sign up for step 3 (assuming pass).

That's what I'm trying to convince myself..

not able to register for step 3....and was able to actually pay for step 2 ck again?!?!? it was my last step...no failures so far. i'm assuming i failed. absolutely terrified.

worst exam of my life......it was so vague and kept running out of time.
All the best. I wish you pass. When did you take your exam. Uwsa scores?
