The more I think about it, the worse I feel! I felt good when I left the testing center, but know I'm starting to question some of my answers..

Exactly. It wouldn't bother me if it was orgo heavy as long as I had an idea of what they were talking about. I spent more time trying to figure out where they were referring to than actually answering the orgo questions.

Also opening night of Olympics + first night of drinking in over 2 months = happy me~ 🙂

Man, I am delirious. I don't even know what day it is. I took every AAMC practice test and that felt hella harder than any of 'em.

BS: What the orgo was that? The bio bio was fine but that orgo.... I don't even know...

PS: I thought it was hard. I guessed a lot lot. And I had this crazed "I don't care just get it over with!" thing going on which didn't feel real good.

VR: Nothing special. Probs not a 15.

Writing: Yeah, I'd had prompts like them before. But I still managed to misquote someone. :smack:

Did 23, 26, 28, 30, 28, 28, 28 on practice tests. Hoping for a 26 :xf:

Was mixed:

PS was solid with the exception of a passage, but overall very do-able. VR were interesting to me, so that is at least a good sign. BS was awesome, except some left-field discretes. I went into the writing section with a list of 5 words I wanted to throw out somewhere in the essays, and got 4 out 5 to make sense. I am not sure why this was my strategy, but it was at least entertaining. I felt preety confident, so that usually is indicative of a fine score on the AAMC practice tests. I did feel like unlike the practice BS sections, the passages were a little longer, but deductive reasoning was more easily applied.

Average AAMC was 34

A good friend of mine took his today as well. Echoing the same sentiment. Smooth sailing for both PS and VR, and the Bio was hardcore with lots of orgo. He answered every question, but unsure about them. It was hard to reassure him after the test because he kept over-analyzing it over and over. What if this..what if that.

Definitely felt as if orgo was giving you a run around just to find what struture they were referring to; however, once you figured it out I believe it wasn't too bad.

Yeah I had a good 10mn left after bs, so I went back and drew it out and finally was able to answer confidentally.

Bring on the olympics. Bring on the parties. Bring on my summer, finally.

Oh wait, I start summer classes in a week >.<

I had 20 minutes left over for the BS section...

but yea, i agree with most people here. PS wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be. VR was eh. Passages were much easier than those on the practice exams. BS was definitely the killer- the orgo threw me for a loop.

I too felt really good leaving the test center, thinking I got a 30 at least. Now I'm questioning it and hoping for a 27 🙁

Examkrackers said to write exactly two pages, how can you tell how much is two pages in their little box thingy?

Cautiously skeptical about todays MCAT. PS seemed to make a bit of sense. VR also, I felt comfortable with time considering the pressure of the test, passages seemed slightly long winded. I did not get to write my final two words of the last essay, felt choppy and overly stressed to come up with material...BS sort of mixed feelings about that, Now to deal with other stuff!!

This was my first and hopefully last time taking the MCAT.
I was 3 passages into BS and i thought to myself "wow, it feels like this test was written just for me! Awesome." I may have missed a few though.. Is the MCAT scored such that the curve will be really harsh since the general consensus was the PS section was pretty easy? Usually my PS score is lowest, I'm nervous now I'm totally done for if my PS gets curved back down to normal ramge and My BS score wont be as high as it usually is.

BS...appropriately abbreviated. The passages were longer than in practice. Obviously orgo heavy.

VR: nothing too long, nothing insanely dry, just a few buggers where i felt there was no good answer and had to choose between the lesser of two evils. Sorry for the typos, sent from my iphone. I already downloaded a countdown app for the score release date. See you back here in 30 days!

This is sort of how I feel and this 30 day wait is gonna be terrible. I feel like I did horribly on the PS even though a lot of it was straight forward. Since it seems the consensus was it wasn't bad, I'm afraid that the curve won't be generous and I'm gonna get rocked. I felt ok with the other two though. At this point I'll be ecstatic if I can just get my freakin practice test average.

are you guys just saying that you feel bad about it? or do you actually know you missed some? if you can't remember any questions then dont worry about it! Im sure you guys killed it!

regarding experimental sections- are there always some in PS and BS? just a couple questions or entire passages?

I've definitely got the post-MCAT blues. Feeling restless. I took AAMC #3, #11, #10, and #8 in that order. Had about 20 minutes left in the Physical Sciences section and scored well in that section each time, but on Friday's MCAT I damn near ran out of time.

It was down to the second and I answered the last passage's questions without reading the passage. Don't know how my performance took such a drastic dip after months of practice and consistent performance but I thought this Physical Sciences section was difficult and confusing. Worries me that so many of you thought it was easier than the other two sections. 😕

You might have different passages? I didn't run out of time for PS, which is highly unusual for me. Had some time to check answers...but I might be making a lot of mistakes too by going so fast...but we all definitely are feeling antsy right now for our scores..

Do you guys think the curve on this test wont be high? Since everyone thought it was easy. If so, do you think the grading scale will be similar to the practice tests or worse? I know no one knows the definite answer so im just looking for opinions.

If I had to guess, I would guess that PS and VR would be graded a bit more harshly than the practice exams, and I would guess that BS would be slightly more forgiving.

hey guys, i joined up just to add to the lolwtf of the organic in the bio section. . I also thought the verbal was oddly tricky too. Also, this test didn't seem like it would have been bad if you studied the right things. I thought I did the best to what I knew, so I'm not feeling much remorse if I get a low score (aka I don't think I screwed up, just hope my guesses were good). After the AAMC's I practiced I felt those had more application of the given information. But in some ways, this test reminded me of a TPR.

I am a re-taker (last year I got 11P 6V 12B) so my main focus this time around was improving verbal because I think that is the only thing keeping me from getting at least an interview.

Overall, I felt that the 7/27 exam was harder than my one last year. Well, the sciences were more challenging than last year but I felt verbal was much easier. However, for some reason I seem to do better on the exams that I feel are harder. I prefer exams that don't rely on rote memorization but analyzing material, which I felt that this exam was more like.

P: I did not think it was bad, but not great either. I never had to guess on any but there were a few that I had trouble deciding on the best answer. This is usually a strong section for me so I hope to get at least a 12 if not more, but who knows.

V: This has always been my weakness, but the weeks leading up to the exam I was much more confident. I almost felt it was too easy though. Usually when I feel that I did well on a verbal test I end up doing worse. But all in all I did not think it was bad. I at least feel that I have a chance at scoring well, unlike last year where I knew I bombed it. I am praying for a 10.

B: Loved it. Organic is my strongest ability so I am very happy with how much was on this exam. It was the opposite of my exam last year, which had little to none. The bio material was not bad at all. I felt that I could score 13+ on this section. I felt great coming out of this section until I got into my car and realized that I answered one of the questions wrong. But it is only one question and there is nothing I can do now.

It's going to be a long month of waiting but hopefully research and secondaries will keep me busy. Good luck to all of you.

So, does anyone think some of that ----- might have been experimental? Or, perhaps this is just wishful thinking.

I'm feeling really anxious today! I had to pretty much guess on one verbal passage, so that's making me super nervous. I hope it's possible to get at least a 9 with that amount of guessing. This was a retake for me, so I'm really,really hoping things work out and I never have to take the mcat again!!
Anyone else feeling more and more nervous/bad about the test as the days go by? Im hoping I can shake this off and not be a nervous wreck for the next month!

I really hope so! If there were any experimental, I'd say it would be in the bio section. At least to me, PS passages were very straight forward so I doubt there were any experimental.

What do people think about the actual MCAT sections only being graded out of 40 instead of 52? 12 experimental questions per BS & PS? I am just commenting on that forum posted earlier in this thread about experimental questions/passages.

No Specifics but Im thinking that could really suck in terms of the BS section... I don't know - don't wanna wonder for a month that's for sure!

I really dislike the idea of experimental questions. I get why they have it and its great that they help the future test takers, but it would really suck for someone who got all of them right. If you got all of them wrong and they omitted them then it would be awesome.

Is there an experimental section in every MCAT? Wouldn't scores be a lot lower if it was only graded out of 40

Hey guys! Is it dumb of me to register for another MCAT test date without having received my 7/27 score? I plan to take the September 6 test, so in the case that my score is OK, I can cancel it.

I think I didn't do very well. I was destroyed by AAMC 11, and that brought down my self esteem by a lot.

I don't think that's dumb. You could do that. Alternatively, you can pay the late fee, since I believe the day you find out your score, you can still register for the September test.

Is that even possible? I'm afraid of losing a spot, that's why. The test center that I went to was small and I fear the slots will be filled up pretty quickly.

Started studying again..😳

I'm having such trouble remembering what I want to look up to check myself. The only questions I can remember are ones where I was thinking to myself 'How the heck do I answer this? I need more information!'

4 weeks and 23 hours, guys. On to the application!

Same i think if i needed a retake it would have to be taken in january at the earliest, no way to raise my score by sept. I thought PS was fair, VR was fair except one drag of a passage, and BS well there where 3 ochem passages, perhaps it makes sense that they have experimental passages. BS was ehhh

So how do people know that our scores are due back August 28 and that scores from 7/26 and 7/27 are both released that day? I count 30 days as being August 26, which is a Sunday, so couldn't they be up on August 27?

it is under the aamc 2012 Registration Deadline and Score Releasea Schedule. "Tentative Score Release for 07/26 and 07/27 is August 28th at 5 PM"
